Another Hollywood star maybe

I'm hearing its Samuel L Jackson.
Legend. Has Welsh heritage too. Saw him wearing a kilt in the awesome film 51st state. ( Welsh tartan).
When I say this is what I'm hearing; it's the voices in my head.

Why?
Own Arsenal doing well
Part own Villa doing well
Took over Burnley and have invested
Majority shareholding Palace, punching well
Half own Leeds doing ok
Own Liverpool no words needed
10% stake in Man City and West Ham
69% majority at Man Utd
Own Millwall, Jacks and Coventry all doing better than us and Plymouth going for automatic from League 1 in 4th and Pompey 10th
American owners seem to be doing ok, not sure why you are against them, genuinly interested to know?

Wouldn't be surprised if Ashley wanted us

so it looks like the preferred bidder for Derby is the american, who has tabled a new offer, after speaking to other championship clubs regarding buying them including PNE, so i wouldn't be suprised if he was one of the people "who asked" about the clubs availability.

What's the problem with Ashley? He was hated at Newcastle.

Got to be honest, he wouldn't be anywhere near my first choice.
People criticise Tan for not being engaged, Ashley was downright antagonistic to Newcastle fans
The only positive is that having sold Newcastle he'd certainly have enough money to not only buy us and to invest in the club too ........................... if he wanted to.

He's obviously a bit marmite.
I haven't seen a Derby fan who DOESN'T want him to buy them.

Yep well I have a Newcastle fan as a friend and she hated him. This was when we were playing in Red and I thought how can you hate him that much at least you still have your colours.

I hear all of the negative things about Mike Ashley - and while I agree with some of them, perhaps part of the problem was that Newcastle fans wanted and expected him to go out and buy players for 40 and 50 million and to be competing with the likes of Man U and Chelsea etc?
Newcastle are a great club and I imagine the fans were frustrated at lack of spending - which was still significant when you look at some of their purchases.
Ironically, we have a fan base, whose club have spaffed so much money away in the last decade, that a more conservative purse string, like that of Ashley at Newcastle, would be welcome... building up a squad methodically and integrating the youngsters.
I dunno.

Springboard for yank hedge funders to make money with no intention of loving the club or some arab looking to launder money whilst investing in other areas a round the world. Its all bollox, modern day football fecks me right off. Fan owned Co-operatives are the way forward, seems to be doing ok with those clubs who are albeit a bit of financial hardship at Barca but other models are working well.

Fan led co operative is ok for smaller clubs in efl fans on board ect is way forward if they have a voice on way a club is run ...... the Barca example is flawed as firstly they and Madrid take something like 75% of tv revenues for themselves and they were financed by banks so far removed from clubs in efl run by co-operative? Only reason Barca are in trouble is la liga put a stop to some of their
financial cheating.....thats why they are in such a mess and still are...

Plenty of far bigger clubs than ours around the world who are fan owned
Tue Apr 05, 2022 1:03 pm
I don't really want an owner to come in and put us further in debt so we can become at best a mid table premier league side. I'd rather live within our means, bring through young talent playing the right way and be clever in the market and have a competitive championship side who might just end up building a strong enough side to make it without splurging endless cash.

Not in this country to my knowledge and the ones that were/are end up being taken over again.

In fairness, if I was a Derby fan faced with my club actually going out of business I wouldn't be too fussy either
We're not in that position, thankfully.

As the old saying goes “The best way to make a small fortune from buying a football club is to start with a large fortune”.

Correct, Martin; even the 'Jacks' tried it (to an extent) and it failed
For me, supporter ownership doesn't work because there is too much conflict of interest between what the supporters want and what the (usually well meaning) owners can provide on their budget
What can work is a credible Supporters Trust (we have one, although I am not a member) who are positively received by the club's owners/Board (that we seemingly do not have)

Being fan owned who supplies the finances particularly reference championship? Fan ownership and fans on the board are two entirely different things .... Barca who are fan owned who supplies the financial resources certainly not fans even though they own it? Fan ownership in championship is a non starter for any club with ambition to get promotion in fact its doomed to fail and suspect end up in relegation after couple of seasons. And as you say Chris to much conflict between financiers and fans .

Not sure what a space raider is but they need to offer 2 bags of pickled onion monster munch, that should get his attention.
