Lovely cross in from Vaulks and McGuinness powers a header at goal, but it forces a terrific save from Nicholls!

McGuinness then hauls down Thomas as the hosts look to break away and goes into the book.

Smithies comes off his line decisively and snuffs out the danger from a ball over the top. Good keeping, there.

Thomas bursts down the wing, but his cross is gathered well by Smithies.

Ng wins the ball and releases Hugill, who then plays in Davies in the box. But the striker slips as he takes his shot and it's a corner.

Top tackle from Wintle to stop a Huddersfield break. Doyle also does well to work it up the right flank and earn Cardiff a throw in the Terriers' half.

He nicks the ball off Sinani and drives all the way into Huddersfield's box. His shot is blocked before Doyle looks to turn the rebound home, but forces Nicholls into a top save.

Been an impressive first 40 for Cardiff. They've held firm and had the better of the chances on the counter. Five minutes to go in the first period.

Bagan does well to get a foot on Thomas' cross and it goes out for a corner to Huddersfield.

Ruffels is found at the back post, but he doesn't connect with his left-footed volley and it trickles wide.

The Bluebirds had the better chances in the first-half and might have gone ahead on more than one occasion, including a headed effort just before half-time and a later (tentative) shot from Jordan Hugill

Despite that, it ends a stalemate and both managers will have plenty to say before the teams come back out

A bit rope a dope. We are doing a good job at keeping shape and have had more chances.

For all the "philosophy" we are still a long ball team, we are too slow in the decision making and it ends back with Flint or Smithies wellying it.

He is a stopper though, his pass success rate can't be that much better than Flints and he is an opposition turnover machine.
