You learn to brush yourself down and start again. I don't see why footballers should be any different.
OK the club didn't handle his release well but running off and moaning to the press is pretty poor especially as many Cardiff fans are losing their jobs at the moment due to Covid and haven't got millions of £'s to fall back on like well paid professional footballers have.
footballers in general are not different...you dont see many articles like this yet hundreds get omitted from retained lists every year.... many who have earned very little out of the game

Nice guy. He's not stupid. He'd have known. No room for sentiment in football.

That might be true but this about Sol Bamba who has had a very long and good professional career.

thats my point mate..clubs leave young boys go every year , effectively ending their dreams.... its a sport and therefore competitive and all these boys hope and dream but do not EXPECT.... we have someone here who is a multi millionaire who was treated better than most by our club full of expectancy and having a rant...

Without doubt things could have been handled better. But at the end of the day the club is bigger than any player. The Board made a proper financial decision which had the wellbeing of CCFC at it's heart and I agree with the decision.
I have seen many people lose their jobs due to ill health. There are very few employers who will pay employees a substantial salary just because they have had a serious illness. The employer will stick to the terms of the employment contract but once that has expired they won't be charitable due to sentiment.
Footballers are no different and frankly should be grateful that they have earned fabulous money to help them through periods like this. Someone on national minimum wage wouldn't have that luxury if they fell ill.

A very balanced and truthful post tony.its a steange post tbf, as you say, he has earned fantastic money with us, and he wanted to still play, the club had decided( and i dare say a lot from MM,regarding him playing no more than a bit part on the pitch this season) they couldnt offee him any guarantees on that score!
I wanted us to keep him on at 1st, due to mostly sentimental reasons, but it is clear MM didnt see him as being needed on the coaching side either.
I and no doubt most others, wish SOL nothing but the very best in his future in football, sadly its not with us, I do agree though, he says he isnt moaning/complaining, but he is.
We move on, and so does SOL good luck to him.

Life is more important than our club or money.
There was No respect given.
I have just looked at my fb and there are now over 400 replies and only two disagreeing , they all can’t be wrong.
For me this is shocking and a new low for the Committee.

I personally have fought cancer and other life threatening illnesses over the years. It has affected my job prospects and definitely dented my wealth prospects but that wasn't the fault of my employer, it was just really bad luck.
I accepted my situation and got on with my life, although I didn't have the luxury of being a multi-millionaire to cushion the blow and I didn't slag off my ex-employers in the press.
I would accept this could have been handled better if the version we have been given by Sol is true and accurate.
However, the 400 people you speak about on Facebook haven't heard the other side of the story from the club, nor have I. Until we do we can't really judge how badly (or well) this situation was handled.
As I have said before Sol Bamba earned a very good living whilst he was at CCFC he should be grateful for that, because frankly having been in his position health wise I find self indulgent that he is crying about it in the press.

And the 400 people on Facebook are always very keen to slate the current management of the club whether it is fair or not.
It’s a small sample size of the club’s fan base.

A players holiday wont change the timing of the club releasing their retained list, so its possible he had a few missed calls or emails asking him to contact the club. In all likelihood he knew when the announcement would be made, and he obviously wasn't checking his phone and if he was that concerned did he chase it up himself with the club.

Your going to another low now Neil regarding Sol Bamba.
Actually I only usually get about 20 comments on the links I do, this is an all time record.
It’s actually now over 700 and that’s just on my groups.
