Had my first and last pint in the ground this season, no thanks to a £5 plastic cup of piss, programmes also gone up to £3.50 and seem smaller.

I was watching it live and you could their equaliser coming.

Not good about catering

I agree on the catering being extortionate. I rarely eat inside the stadium but today I made an exception and was greeted with average fare to say the least and at a high price...

£9.60 for a hotdog, a coke and a Mars Bar

Lesson learned...!

Not good about the catering, and not good about the cleaning either. Still dirty seating, and not cleaned in while.

there were signs that this team will once again be resilient once they blend together and when the forward line is back to its best line-up (with Moore starting) they will be okay...

Some encouraging performances out there with Dillon Phillips making a couple of outstanding saves and Flint looking good, too

Ralls looked like he wanted to play again and was unfortunate with the injury, whilst Ryan Giles (MotM for me) showed what he can do for us with his endeavour and crossing

Bagan was caught out of position a few times and needs to reposition himself to obtain better ball; but once he learns his trade in a tough league, he will develop nicely

Wintle also looked half decent when he come on and I thought Collins looks okay, too

If only Bacuna could shoot straight, we would have won that...! :ayatollah:

Bagan made some very good over laps we didn't use half the time. Still think he needs to do a bit more defensively, but going forward very promising

I'm glad the season has started because I've missed people giving knee-jerk reactions like this

Reading the replies to this topic, you'd think we'd lost 4-0

Wasn't able to go today but watched it on a stream and, while it was great, it was nowhere near as bad as some are making it out to be.

We didn't lose and it's important to remember we have 45 games to go.

Can't wait to be back there for the Millwall game :thumbright: :bluebird:

I thought both teams looked like they were new to each other.

But one thing I think most people knew before today is that Bacuna is definitely not a creative number 10.

That’s why things looked really disjointed, nobody linking up.

I’m surprised people are complimenting Bagan. I don’t want to destroy the guy but he needs someone to tell him to take a touch and get his head up rather than the first time hoof. I do wonder whether, perhaps, he just needs to relax in front of a big crowd, because he looks like he has the ability.

Early days but take Giles away and there is very little creativity.

I thought it was one of the worst performances we have had in years - apart from a 10 min spell in the 2nd half, we didn’t even try to play football. We just looked to hoof it forward on every occasion even though the conditions were awful for it.

Midfield is still a complete shambles - no speed of thought to work the ball out wide to Giles, who looked decent. I lost count of the amount of times Pack or Ralls turn backwards, pass it back for one the centre backs to lump it forward instead only for it to come straight back to where is started.

For 3 years now we have been desperate for a midfielder that could look after the ball and actually distribute it with purpose. We have 3 weeks to try any find an answer, otherwise it’s going to be a long old season.

We should have been trying to get Giles involved at every opportunity with the ball to his feet…but continually we just pinged to the other side of the pitch. He was the one bright spot today I thought, with some cracking crosses.

Was bang average game really, still shocked we can't pass it on the floor that much. There were certainly a few good moments but it was hard to get excited, we don't really build to anything.

2 balls wide crossed in that should of been converted. But other then that I can't recall wanting to stand up

poor game but also poor conditions... think we had the better chances tbh....and i think if Barnsley was the yard stick we will win more than we lose ,especially with the added areil threats of Mozza and Moore

Nope. Just my opinion on the starting 11. Not one exciting attacking player. The biggest threat we had was a wing back playing in a front 3. No pace other than giles.

I was watching the pre match session when the players were passing to each other - neat, crisp and good control.
In the game they couldn’t replicate it.
If in doubt just hoof it as high and far as you can.
McArthy is a dinosaur manager.
I bet you every team we see down here will out pass us and dominate midfield.
If only we could have some McPhail like balls through to Chopra

Still early days, particularly as we've not had the full squad playing yet, plus Barnsley did finish last season like a train, but don't like it that they dominated the ball with a reported 55% possession.
Was hoping that we would have improved in that aspect, so we could be doing a lot of defending again unless we get more of the ball.

Out pass us like a team today had 72% possession & 7 shots and 571 passes compared oposition with 29% possession? 21 shots & 218 passes guess who lost? As today's team being worst in 20yrs? that's always a matter of opinion and I guess be the usual people may agree with you but suspect vast majority wont agree..

We'll have this discussion all season about possession so we had 45% today another team had 29% and won Barnsley had good possession but how many saves did they force not many is answer...
Last season we were 4th highest scorers but wouldn't be surprised
if 4th worst for possession ? You have to ask what wins games? We ended outside top 6 because mick preferred to draw games not because our possession was poor

My View:

Seen worse performances many times over.

Over all we played fairly good and at times some decent football.

Let down by not looking for the 3pts more and creating enough, but a draw a fair result.

First match, can’t really judge at all.

Hopefully we get 3pts away at Blackpool and improve :bluebird: :bluebird:

Annis this was our problem last season MM preferred to draw than go on and win games which cost us top 6 position in my view.... whats worrying is MM saying again after game if not going to win dont lose game? Which means again we will draw to many games and again possibly costing us top 6 spot. Today we played ok in patches and with bit more composure and better ball distribution we could have won comfortably as they didn't offer much upfront even goal was bad errors by us.

Just the worst pile of crap football I’ve seen for a long time. Those people trying to say it wasn’t bad must have been to a different game. If you don’t think that was dire then you have very very low standards for a Championship team. If that’s all we’re capable of producing we have Bob Hope and no hope of doing anything this season.

It's about opinions some people have same opinion regardless of how well or bad we play? Anyway good to form such an opinion after we've played so many league games this season .

If hoofball was an Olympic sport Cardiff would be gold medal contenders without a doubt. So many aimless high balls in all directions was shocking. Sort it out Mick while you still have a job

Best part of the afternoon for me was the Peter Wittingham tribute, immense noise from the crowd. The rest of the game was forgettable.

Agree that possession doesn’t always win you games, but it does give you more opportunities to create chances instead of having to defend most of the time. I think that if we want to really compete then we do need to stop relying so heavily on set pieces, but then again I'm not really a fan of just trying to stop the opposition from scoring and hoping that we can snatch a goal. I just don’t see it as the most exciting thing to watch.

No wonder you don't post on here often; I can't find a positive one amongst your 35 posts in 8 years to date...

Here's a sample quote you made a year or so ago (your last active post) "The players look like shadows of their former self..."

So were they the worse or today's boys...? :?

There are other examples of your negativity... ;)

It's the first competitive game of a long season and was hardly (quote) "crap..." but if it suits your negative theme... ;)

Why have we signed Collins.
Had a fair goal scoring record with Luton but he used to just stand in the box.
He is a cart horse, No other way to describe him. Absolutely no pace and too short to win the ball in the air.
If we were thinking about loaning out any forward it should be him and not Harris.
