The last 3 -4 seasons we have put every result out from both due to a lot of interest and also due to the CCFC Committee continuing to tell the media about how good the set up is now and that we have the best groups of footballers coming through for years .

There was also a more interest as well when Craig Bellamy was out in charge of the Accademy.

The CCFC Committee about 5 years ago put out bug stories on the Accademy so of course we have followed them more.

Personally I have always been interested in the local talent coming through :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Also because the present Regime have not been producing any new talent since they took over ( over 11 yrs ago) and had a very good Accademy back then I think more and more fans have been interested in what’s been going on :thumbright: :bluebird:

Cardiff City's U23 side fell to a 6-1 defeat against Coventry City on Tuesday afternoon, having taken the lead early on in Leckwith.

Match report

Wednesday 28th April 2021

City's fielded a strong U23 side and finishing up 6-1, it proved a difficult result to accept for City, who had looked promising in attack throughout the encounter.

Max Watters and Mark Harris lead the City attack against a young but hungry Coventry City side.

The Bluebirds went ahead in the 11th minute thanks to a terrific header from Mark Harris, but went behind by the break, conceding more goals in the second half.

Having created the first goal with a sublime left footed cross, Kieron Evans provided the hosts with the best chances of the afternoon.

Playing in a more defensive role as right wing-back, Evans was industrious alongside midfielder Sam Bowen in trying to get the ball up the pitch quickly wherever possible, leading to Harris' opener.

Equalising through a penalty-kick, the visitors took the lead minutes before the interval, as Fabio Tavares shot from close range into the back of the net.

Harrison Nee doubled the lead with 25 minutes remaining before Tavares picked up his second five minutes later.

With Harris attempting to get City back into the match throughout alongside Max Watters and Isaak Davies, the visitors' tightly packed defensive formation kept out a lot of good chances for the Bluebirds, with Daniel Martin heading just high over the bar from a well-placed cross later on.

Two further quickfire goals for Coventry put the game out of reach for City with ten minutes remaining, as Joe Newton struck home before Tavares secured his hat-trick from the afternoon's meeting.

Finishing up 6-1, it proved a difficult result to accept for City, who had looked promising in attack throughout the encounter.

FINAL SCORE: CARDIFF CITY U23 1-6 COVENTRY CITY U23

Cardiff City U23: Trialist, Evans, Martin, Jones, D'Almeida (Pritchard 75'), Bodenham, Harris, Bowen, Watters (Zimba 65'), Kavanagh (King 46'), Davies. Subs: Cogman, Ashford.

Coventry City U23: Billson, Howley, Burroughs, Nee, Ngandu, Badaga, Tavares, Reid, Rowe, McGrath, Newton. Subs: Young, Bell, Evans-Harriott, Burroughs, Ros.

Up until this season you have a good point. However, have you forgotten that Bagen, Sang, Colwell and Brown have all broken into the first team this season !? Harris has also played although I’m yet to be convinced by him.

It doesn’t excuse the previous 10 years but does demonstrate that we’re, hopefully, finally getting it right.

We won’t always get 4 breakthroughs in one season but one or two is what we could expect.

As for this result, take all those I’ve mentioned out of the U23 starting eleven and surely it’s no surprise if they get hammered ? That’s just how it goes at that level.

Mate, Bagen came through Southampton academy, Sang through Bolton and Manchester united's and never joines us till he was 21 or 22 years old , Brown Wealdstones and played 48 first team appearances for them, he is 23 now. Harris no manger seems to want,

Colwell is the the magic kid, took 10 plus years to get a player through, we shall hopefully see more of him first :bluebird: :bluebird:

It matters not where they come from, they have obviously improved since arriving here!! Enough to have broken into a championship side, where they were at lower league standard before?
Another dig at our academy, why people expect stacks of young stars to roll off the line,I dont know? But we have some youngsters coming through, whereas before they were deemed not good enough by previous managers? Lets just get behind those who are making their way with us.results are poor admittedly, but we are not world beaters, even at 1st team level.

Mate, just been looking at some of our results we lost earlier in the season to the Jacks 5-1 and so many defeats over the season and collapsing 1-6 at home to Coventry, there must be a problem and i say like Neil Harris, ' STEVE MORRISON ' the coach could be the problem not the players.

A good set of players dont suffer so many defeats.

We should be looking at Steve Morrison?

The Media (Glen Williams ) are saying that Cardiff CIty's Tavio d'Almeida also a player who has impressed and is knocking on the door of the first team squad.

D'Almeida, aged 20, was released by Auxerre 18 months ago and City took him on after a trial period.

Cardiff Signed him 1st August 2019.

Tavio Kouakou d’Almeida was named among the substitutes for Cardiff City's Carabao Cup tie with Luton Town in August 2019.

Be very interesting to see how he develops in his 20's as D'LAlmeida was one of the 8 players Tan and The Committee wanted Neil Harris to in his first team squad.

Early this season he got injured so that's why he hasn't featured so much, but is back playing now.

I really hope the lad makes it :thumbright: :bluebird:

Colwill came up through the academy and looks like he'll be a squad player next season. Bagan was signed for the academy and will probably be our first choice LB in the next season or 2. Sang was signed for the academy and will probably be a squad player next season. Same as brown. Thats more than weve seen in a good few years. Surely that shows the academy is doing better? It was never going to be a quick fix and turnaround.

Mate Colwill is the only actual City academy player to come through and has had one game, played alright, gave his all and we all want him to make it :bluebird: :bluebird:

Players joining us at 20,21 and 22 years old how can you call them our academy players ?

Tom Sang began his career with Bolton Wanderers before signing for Manchester United in 2015 after a successful trial. In January 2019, Sang joined AFC Fylde on loan for the remainder of the 2018–19 season. He was released by Manchester United in 2019, subsequently signing for Cardiff City after a trial period at the age of 20 years old. Sang is 22 years old next month.

I am looking to Colwill, Davies and Evans to make it, they are our academy players :bluebird: :bluebird:

I literally said those players were signed FOR the academy. I didnt say they came through it.

We all want to see local home grown talent. But who cares if these boys came through other academies, really? The fact is they were signed for the academy for peanuts and are now being involved with the first team. Where that hasn't really been a regular thing in recent seasons.
Do you think Swansea cared James and mcburnie came from other academies when they were scoring goals for them and then went on to be sold for 40mill?

But that’s what most clubs do.

Man City took Matondo off us and sold him for £10m.

The Prem clubs academies have kids signed from other clubs all over the world !

It’s about how the academies develop that talent and our academy looks like it’s finally got it’s act together.

One bad defeat amongst a series of generally good results doesn't mean anything really. We lost 5-0 to Sheffield Wednesday recently and after that they have lost virtually all their games and we haven't. Don't read too much into one result.

Not that good , just looked at our results including yesterday’s

And we play a lot of League one and two clubs

So far this season : WON 9 DRAWN 1 LOST 16

We got smashed by the Jacks 5-1 and even beaten by League one & two sides , I want us to do well, but let’s not pretend we are doing really well, as over all not that great, I would love to say we are.

Exactly what I posted, they were deemed not good enough elswhere, released and came here, and now we have a few who are knocking on the door of the 1st team, therefore they have improved in their time with us??

i honestly do not see how under 23 football is included when talking about academies.... these boys { its not unusual to see a few experienced 30 year old boys playing } are adults whether they came through our age groups or came from other clubs...
the under 23s is more akin to a reserve team than part of an academy...

Absolutely spot on :thumbright:

Common sense at last .

They are 100% not Academy players and U23’s has some how been twisted in to making fans believe it.

They are trying to make out we are producing these lads Tom Sang / Ciaron Brown when they’ve joined us at ages 21 & 22, it’s madness.

Glen Williams may as well work for Tan & the Committee.

U23’s is a reserve team that our players who need to keep fit or comeback from injuries and its been over the last few years made very much competitive with promotions to higher reserve leagues etc :thumbright:

When you join a club at 18,20,21 and 22 you’ve already been through other clubs Academies.

The Under 23's was called that instead of the reserve team or combination team to try bring on more British players, the original idea and make these games / leagues more competitive, so players not in the first team were kept fitter and challenging more and more meaningful games, nothing to do with our academy. :thumbright: :thumbright:

NEVER ever have ago at our club NEVER :bluebird:

I want our club to Produce good Accademy players and the the so called CCFC Committee / Regime have not been doing this.
Accademy players are players that come through our ranks and Tom Sang or Ciaron Brown 1,000% Never.

If Rubin, Isaak and Kieron etc do really make it properly, I will be the first person to acknowledge, congratulate etc :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluescarf:

I want it to happen more than the average City fan as I have always followed our kids / youth for 49 years and I have seen us fail so badly in the past .

Our best ever years were 2000-2010 and we produced quality, since then we have been absolutely shite. So hopefully it’s now finally happening :bluebird: :bluebird:

It was even great during the early 90’s :bluebird: :bluebird: and a period during the 80’s :thumbright: :bluebird:
