I'm going to disagree here.

He did get the ball, yes.

But when you see where his foot connects with Vardy, it's a dangerous challenge and would be classed as serious foul play.

He could have given Vardy a serious injury.

But it's a hard one to call and you can make a case for either side of the argument on this one.

i dont think you need it....for as long as ive watched football youll watch the game then sometimes claim later to a friend that was offside or a pen and sometimes the friend wouldnt agree or vice versa.... both sets of fans have opposite views on the same incident ...if on tv often the pundits do not agree with key incidents they watched from different angles in slowmo.... on high profile ones ive even seen 2 different top refs asked to review a decision and and come to different conclusions to each other.. and recently with no crowds you can hear both benches screaming at the same time ? its not a black and white game .. imagine if there was VAR2... more refs reviewing the decisions VAR make ? would it make it clearer or just make the cawl thicker....needs to be ditched

Nothing wrong with VAR except the rules need changing
(1) if a man is level with the last man he cannot be offside ( not a stupid toenail offside)
(2) A VAR red card decision should be viewed in real time
(3) The ref should view any VAR referee decision on the pitch side monitor
I expect there is more but I can't remember them all

Your right you do get a lot of conflicting opinions as to a decision? In case of last night only person thought it was red card thought it was for a nasty foul?
But good point made is why didn't mr moss an experienced ref at var tell rooky ref Jones to look at screen if he did jones would surely have changed mind ! Perhaps it's time to ditch var officials making decisions but have them to advise ref use pitchside monitor if thinks mistake is made like in past week... certainly something needs to be done to stop the ludicrous situation like arsenal and last night happening which undermines var totally.

There are simple ways to change things to make var run better like offside..... use the foot as marker easier to see..... handball not lot wrong now they've tweaked rules.....straight red cards should always be reviewed by ref with monitor..... hardest one is penalties
To many are given because players deliberately put foot in way of defending player to make contact with foot even if got no chance to win ball that to me is cheating to gain advantage hence almost double the amount of penalties since var came in..... classic case is players standing their ground and ducking down to initiate a foul kane expert at it but var stopped giving fouls because it was deemed dangerous to opponent who were landing on head dont see it now... just need strong refereeing on pitch ans not let var make the decisions like it is now more than it should

No idea what the referee saw to give a penalty in the first place.

Bjorn Kuipers is one of the best and most experienced referees in Europe but that wasn't even close to being a penalty.

Think it was the mass appeal of Bayern players that made him think it was a pen probably didn't have view of it.. but took 1 second on review to put it right var as had few good days wonder how long it will last?

I thought it was definitely a penalty. Ake was being naive by making a challenge like that.

Put it this way, if it was on on the halfway line then nobody would complain if a free kick was given.

Ned agree about the offside easy to see.... I didn't think ncastle players foot was cought as other player slid in but what was odd is very little replays of incident and certainly not clear what happened hence thought he missed him.

Ned just saw the pen and I slowed it down and man c player didn't touch opponents foot ... ncastle player put his foot on his leg with ball a foot behind him... Why didn't var do same as me as would have seen what I saw ? Ex players are right we are going towards a non contact game in penalty area.

Same with yellow cards, free kicks etc.

They have checked when there is doubt if ball goes out play if a goal a been scored..... Same with free kicks they've disallowed goal because they deemed foul was committed outside area when goal as been scored neither things are part of var protocol ... so if intervene then why not when seen officials made mistake for corner especially if goal is scored from that corner...

But this situation wasn't in a phase of play where a goal was scored. Even if they'd scored from the corner, I highly doubt VAR (in this country) would have disallowed the goal. They don't get involved unless it's in the same phase of play as a goal, penalty or red card.


In fairness to VAR, it has been much better these last couple of weeks. I've not seen much wrong with their decisions recently. But I've said that before, and they suddenly start making bad decisions again.


I just hope it doesn't make a bad decision in the FA Cup final later. Would be disappointing if a team wins the trophy because of a poor VAR decision.

Ok its not var its the dodgy officials that are useless? Man u goal tonight var official said inconclusive that Fernandez didn't touch ball so refs original decision ok.... but in studio it was shown Fernandez didn't touch ball so cavani should've
been given offside... Neville in commentary says he doesn't think var official actually looked at fernandez touching ball just made it up he did touch ball.

At time var said couldn't catogoracly say he didnt touch it so left it with original decision .... they think? no wonder people question the use of it when you've got incompetent officials using technology...
