Since we've played 3-5-2 (3 at the back) under MM and Bennett and NG played as wingbacks we were averaging 2.5 goals a game. We had two very attacking wingbacks
Ng won us a penalty at Bournemouth and Bennett got a winner at Doncaster and also assists.

Since his injury we've only scored once in 3 games and that was an OG.

I know these youngsters are giving everything and I can't fault them. For me I would rather find a more attacking option.

No idea if it would work but I like the idea of Hoilett at RWB

Always been impressed with his defensive work as a winger.

Joe Bennett is badly missed more than many realise and yes the goals have dried up.

Here we go

So you’re happy watching your defenders aimlessly kicking the ball up the field to forwards/wingers with no pace and suspect control and ignoring the central midfield - you know basic football tactics?
And watching the so called central midfielders who should be directing the attack also aimlessly kicking it up in the air or as we saw again tonight into touch or for a goal kick or to the opposition or sideways/backwards?
Oh whilst I’m at it you’re happy watching long throws as one of our main goal threats?

Well if you’ve answered those in the affirmative fill your boots for the next 2 seasons

Needed the subs after 60mins to freshen up team? But the problem at moment seems to be playing moore upfront on his own spent most game like previous 2 out wide so no one in middle to try and score! MM seems to have a thing about not playing players unless they are 110% in training or playing for under 23s why else didn't he put on watters and other subs ?

Annis teams have switched on to way we play and it means moore is isolated upfront where he becomes ineffective? You can tell this by the aimless passing from midfield and defence compared to first 8 games or so because no one to pass too... needs a rethink of how we are going to support moore to optimise his abilities.

Allan,

I do agree the service to Moore has virtually dried up .

Missing Joe Bennett.

Missing Wilson and Murphy in my opinion , no more great runs.

Someone else was saying why did Wilson and Murphy play ahead of Ojo and Bacuna.

It’s all about opinions. But not all can be right.

MM is the gaffer he picks the team. His record is pretty good so far.

That's why think MM needs to rethink tactics moore looked knackered when trying to score as he was 40yds or more from goal where in truth he was most of the game and usually out wide.. tonight needed Wilson and Williams plus watters on after 60 mins not 80+ a mistake by MM considering tonight was almost a must win game given results other night.

I didn’t say we’ve become a bad team.
I was averring how limited the majority of our players are and how predictable, negative, attritional and basic the tactics are, and that we’ve got 2 more seasons of this.
I’ve been watching City through thick and mostly thin since early 70’s so I submit from experience and is most certainly not fickle as someone else misconceived.

Not fickle well you certainly implied that we are just a hoofball team and cannot play decent football and it will continue for the 2 seasons MM is in charge...... when obviously we have not been since hes taken over recent performances can be simply tiredness affecting our ability to close down teams like we were doing? Yes we all criticise performances but we dont look to future performances certainly not for next two seasons anyway.

Big Mick quite clearly doesn't rate Hoilett that much. He's almost never used him. It was clear after an hour tonight that our long ball to Moore tactics were not working out. Stoke matched our formation with 3 big centre backs. We had enough, small, skilful and fast players on the bench to have changed it up a bit. Hoilett, Jonny, Wilson and Murphy would have given those big CBs something to think about. It doesn't always have to be route one, we have the players to occasionally change our style.

I think the team has run out of steam and tired bodies go hand in hand with tired minds. That's when lack of creativity and clear thinking becomes an issue.

MM has used the mantra "if you can't win, don't lose" so many times, when you have close encounters like this game, is it any wonder that the team doesn't go for broke and invariably settles for a draw.

We look accomplished when we're handing out beatings to the likes of Derby and Preston but going forward I think performances like we've seen tonight and against Boro and Huddersfield will become more commonplace.

I hope I'm wrong but I've a gut feeling I won't be.

I thought about this driving into work.

Last night we had

3 centre halfs
NG is a fullback who will slot into the back three if we want/need
Sang who probably is a CM (whatever level i don't know)
Vaulks who could play centre half for Wales (IMO) but is defensive
Pack a defensive CM
Bacuna who played most of the season as a full back

with Ojo & Moore the only recognized attacking threat...... It going to be a busy summer

not sure what MM was expecting......At least he is taking Saturday seriously

Both managers knew how the other would play. Both managers setup accordingly, both teams played as expected, both teams just about cancelled each other out. Bore draw.

If we are going to have a bad performance I'd rather it was last night than saturday.

Re: MY VIEW: CARDIFF WERE VERY POOR TONIGHT & SO WERE STOKE

With the stage we are at in the season and the gap between us and the playoffs, a draw really wasn't good enough last night. We could be 9 points off after tonight. We've literally got nothing to lose but could gain a lot with a little bit of risk. Really dissapointment mick didn't go for it last night (even for the last 15-20mins) and played out for the draw instead. Even more so that it wasnt a particularly good performance either. Players look tired, we've got options on the bench and can make 5 subs in a game.

I've got a feeling that performances like that might become a regular occurrence. That's 2 teams in poor form that have sussed and nullified our attack. Add two good teams in boro and Watford and we've resorted back to hit and hope football. Micks must not lose approach means we will probably happily see out a draw in similar games. Might work over the course of a season but we need wins in the current situation.

Two sides with nothing to play for - hence poor game. Come to think of it, I’ve never seen a good game against Stoke.

well the last 15 minutes we had 3 decent opportunities and they hit the bar.... it really wasnt a good game but people are talking about this game as if everyone was content with 0-0 ...when there were chances for it to be 3-3

See I thought it wasn’t a bad game. Plenty of shots. We had two one on ones and other chances. They played some nice stuff (mainly because of Joe Allen).
