The ‘easy’ teams that you rightly pick out will be fighting tooth and nail very soon and we’ve seen the amazing results that the championship had given at times.

Agree with this. A couple of months ago, teams would have looked at us as an "easy game".

That’s true. Plus I’ve just had a look and they have Bournemouth, Reading, Boro and Norwich; plus 2-3 games v other Yorkshire sides and we all know that derbies can be tricky.

Goal difference could well come into things if it is this tight.

One of the Jacks, Bees, Watford or Reading will stumble I reckon with us, Barnsley, Bournemouth and Boro waiting in the wings for the two spots.

Don't know why but I think Reading will fall out with us finishing 5th and Bournemouth getting 6th. Just a gut feeling.

2nd could be anyone from Jacks, Watford or Brentford (hoping for the Bees to see the job through though)

To be honest if (and its a big if) we make the playoffs see no reason why we can't go all the way. Nothing to fear in there the way we've been playing since MM took over.

:ayatollah:

Funnily enough, I said we'd take 5th place  but in truth I'd take 6th right now!

Rotherham have got a 97th minute winner at Sheffield Wednesday, finishes 2-1 there. A big win for Rotherham at the bottom. Rotherham were down to ten men after have their striker sent off in the second half.

Bournemouth have won 2-1 at Bristol City.

Only match still ongoing is Stoke v Swansea.

There's about 25 minutes to go there and it's still 1-1 at the moment.

Big result that for Rotherham played half an hour with ten men for a very soft red in my eyes.

Jacks gifted soft penalty at the death. Blatant dive.

Re: " Tonight "

All over at Stoke.

Swansea beat them 2-1.

They won due to a late penalty which was very debatable.

Andy Hinchcliffe on Sky was adamant that it shouldn't have been a penalty.

Big win for them though.

Win on Friday and we’re back in play offs then they’re all playing catch up again :ayatollah: :bluescarf:

Re: " Tonight "

Wed Mar 03, 2021 10:16 pm

I don't think tonight could have gone much worse for us.

Still, the fact we play before anyone else this weekend when we play Huddersfield on Friday, gives us the chance to put pressure on those above us again.

I fear if we don't win, those above us could start to pull away again.

Didn't even need var ref needed glasses! Cannot understand what he saw? Defender was feet away when he fell over !

Re: " Tonight "

I thought Swansea just about shaded the game and deserved the win. Conner Roberts is outstanding, like having 2 players on the pitch. Really glad he's welsh, going to be a big player for Wales in the coming years. I was never a penalty though, McNaughton conned the ref completely.

Yes they probably deserved the win but cheating is endemic in football now!

Results tonight show to get in the playoffs we will have to at present to continue to win most of our games.

Re: " Tonight "

Wed Mar 03, 2021 10:29 pm

The way the table is looking right now, I reckon you'll need 80 points to get in the play offs. 27 points out of a possible 36 will take some doing.

Re: " Tonight "

Wed Mar 03, 2021 11:41 pm

We have gone from Going Down before MM / TC came in to now may be missing out on a Top 6 -

When most would never have thought we would be in a position to do so -

As I have said and posted above by others - Loads of points to play for.... CCFC Will give it a go :bluebird:

extending points per game so far across a 46 game season its going to be 74 or 75 points..

That's my thinking too, no way is it over, not by a long way yet  as long as we keep our form we should fear nobody, barnsley still have some tough fixtures like Norwich reading, boro & Bournemouth, plus a couple or derby games.
Keep the faith bluebirds,we can do this. :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Of course and 75 points ish is normally what it needs to get in the play offs and that's pretty much what you get extrapolating the current totals of the us, Barnsley and Bournemouth. Reading a point or 2 higher. Its looking like those 4 fighting the last 2 places, with Boro having an outside chance. My original reasoning comes from Reading's slight points advantage, Bournemouth the best team and us and Barnsley only slightly behind but in really strong form. I would say that the chances are that at least 2 of those teams will better their points return over the season to date.
