Why should we care

You Might not care, but I do.

Pts is what it’s all about.

If we didn’t care then you should be annoyed.

I'm saying why do we care about 21st not why do we care. 22nd is a position of significance in the league, 21st is not. No one ever pipes up with "good news we're 4 points from 7th".

"Pts is what it's all about" we're 6 points (plus a much better GD) from a spot in the relegation zone. That is the position to avoid and to care about.

We haven’t won for 8 games and yes we’ve only got 2pts from 21pts, football is very dire and we’ve not her. Bringing in quality players, just getting rid.

Tell me honestly the positives?

And yes I care abd I want points :thumbright: :bluebird:

You're comparing our form/points across 2 managers. It's easy to say 2 points from 21, alternatively it's 0 from 15 under NH and now 2 from 6 under MM. So already a big improvement on the points front. We also look better and the players look to have more fight in them, coming back from 2-0 and 1-0.
MM achieved this in a week give or take. Barnsley and Millwall came in quick succession with very little prep time before the Barnsley game, however MM has now had a full week to fully assess his squad, the strengths, weaknesses, discuss tactics etc

As for signing quality players;
Wilson in previous seasons was one of the best players in the Championship.
Moore is looking like our best goalscorer in a decade. The last time we had a 20+ goal player was 2011, since then our highest goalscorer was Whitts with 13 in the 11/12 season
Jonny Williams is imo a better playmaker than Ralls, Vaulks and Pack so I would class him as a good signing.
Ng has also looked good in the few appearances he's made and is fairly young.

We're also playing youth players which people have been crying out for years.

This is a far cry from a season to be celebrated or enjoyed but we're 6 points above the relegation zone with a much better GD than anyone below us. There's also 5 teams between us and the relegation zone, 3 of those 5 we have a game in hand over as well as having a game in hand over 9 of the 14 teams above us.
We've also signed a very competent and experienced manager who in the space of a couple days improved us, lets see what he can do in a few weeks.

The doom and gloom was warranted under Harris but lets hold it back until it's deserved with the new manager :ayatollah:

Not once have I ever had ago at Big Mick, I have been positive from day one :bluebird:

I give every new manager or player or owner a chance :thumbright: :bluebird:

After 12 games, in my opinion we will know where we are going under Big Mick, hopefully forward :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

I think we may have stepped in at the right time here. His injury record isn't great but for Charlton this season he looks to have the injuries behind him and if that turns out that way then we'll have picked up a quality player for buttons.

The team in 21st is the team in 22nd target. The team in 22nd is fighting and won away against a top 6 team last match.

If there were 3 games left I'd have less of a problem, there are 20 games and 60 points left to play for.

We NEED to start winning.

But we were suppose to be talking about promotion this season and how can we all be positive when look what were discussing

Even Tan and Dalman last week had hrs talking about there were chances of us going down .

Tan in life has done enough right to buy himself a football club. A club that has spent just as much time in the bottom two rungs as the top two over the last 30 years.

How tough it is being a CCFC fan, no not us, a Coventry City fan or a Sunderland fan. Poor ole little spoilt Cardiff fans feeling sorry for themselves. This sense of entitlement :o

This forum is a microcosm of the breadth of feeling for the direction of the club at the moment.

Play our kids/ but sulk when we allow an expensive striker that patently hasn't worked to leave
Get ourselves a young exciting manager but when we do it the "cheap option" or yes man
Play a modern quick passing team then lament Paterson's departure every time a ball deflects of his arse

I am a fraud of a life long fan. I only came back in the new stadium and took a 15-year sabbatical to pursue other things.

IMO its been worse. Whatever the club/committee or manager does it gets criticized

Totally agree with this.

I understand that 21st is the target of 22nd and I'd understand why we'd be concerned about slipping to 21st if we were 20th but there's 5 teams between us and the relegation zone. We have a comfortable cushion points wise and league position wise as well as a game in hand over most of the league and the benefit of a much stronger GD, +10 more than 22nd, which is arguably worth an extra point in itself. Our GD is also more than all 7 teams immediately above us.

As for Sheffield beating Bournemouth, the cherries are on worse form than us. They've got 1 point in 5 games and lost their last 4 in a row. They're currently the worst team in the division so I would take other team's results against them with a pinch of salt.

I agree we need to start winning but thankfully I'm confident from our next few fixtures we can get some wins with the experience and fight MM can instil in our team :ayatollah:

Whilst 6 points is a smaller cushion than ideal (ideally we'd be 1st with 26 wins but oh well) our goal difference, league position, recent form (under MM) and team mentality (again under MM) is more than enough to make me confident we won't be relegated. The lowest I expect us to finish this season is 12th :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I still believe we will finish around 10th personally, but am concerned about up top,if moore gets a long term injury, then its down to the younsters, hopefully nothing happens to him,as thats a lot of pressure on young inexperienced shoulders.

The problem with Glatzel as a replacement for Moore is that he isn't a replacement for Moore in that he is useless at playing the lone centre forward in the way Moore does he is pretty useless in the air either winning headers or getting on the end of crosses. He is at his best actually playing alongside Moore but it's not worth keeping him on the wage bill for that. He is probably on between 10 and 20 thousand a week. That is a luxury we can't afford for a reserve. Wilson or Watters can play up front with Moore and Glatzel is so bad in the air you might as well play Wilson and Watters up front together instead of Glatzel if Moore is injured.

If we had unlimited money I would say keep him but we save a big amount by loaning him out and might get a fee for him if he scores a few for Mainz and he could as German football is probably more suited to him.

Purely from a playoffs perspective, it makes financial sense as we have no hope of reaching them imo.

Having said that, upon looking at the league table on this thread, I didn’t realise how near the bottom 3 we were, given there’s a lot of games (and points) still to play for. With that in mind, he should have been kept as back up or even a different option style wise.

It will suit him,as thats where he learnt to play the game.
Not too sure about wilson and watters as a pairing though.
Talking of your percieved "uselessness" glatzel has the 2nd highest efforts on target, meaning 50%+ of his efforts are on target! Above all our current strikers inc moore & wilson, who was only at 33%!! How msny headers has moore scored for us so far?? I dont count the Barnsley one,as he scored that off his face.we shall now soon enough I guess.

not for me, its not as if he is a like for like replacement for Moore and we really do not win very often if he starts...timne for another option...
