Highly likely that other countries figures are lower than they should be, considering that the UK has highly developed data collection systems. Some countries are lying through their arses as well..

What exactly do you expect to happen if the minimum wage rises? And secondly, what’s your alternative? UBI? Improved benefits system? Changes to the tax system? Change nothing?

Genuinely curious because I think raising the minimum wage would be one of the best decisions this government has made in the decade they’ve been in power.

If the minimum wage goes up, so do profits at Greggs. That’s the problem..

Same thing that always happens. People priced out of jobs, more unemployment, more pressure on no business making it harder to compete against big chains.

For one you could reduced tax, allow people to keep more of their own money. Also reduce VAT, make those products cheaper. The government could interfere with the Market less as their horribly inefficient in everything they do. There are plenty of ideas that's are instantly better than increasing minimum wage, most scandavian countries don't even have it because it's only half a step up from "just print more money"

Yes the gap between rich and poor has increased massively over lockdown with the rich getting the poor mans work.
100.000 is a vastly manipulated total and you shouldn’t read to much into that.
Covid19 is classed in the same bracket as influenza and it also is not classed as a HCID as they know all about this virus and it’s very low mortality rate. But you are bang on about the big reset or whatever you want to call it or even the New Normal as it’s also called.

You keep mentioning the fact Covid isn’t classed as a HCID as if it’s some big revelation and blows the whole secret wide open. The UK government only considers 16 diseases in the HCID category. The HCID classification is reserved for a tiny tiny selection of the planets diseases, things like Ebola, Y Pestis, SARS, MERS, smallpox, monkeypox, etc. All of which have mortality rates of 10%, 20%, 50%+.

Saying it’s in the same bracket as Influenza means nothing if your categorising it as “HCID” or “Not HCID”. You might as well say because Cardiff aren’t one of the Big 6 we’re in the same bracket as Maidstone United. Influenza has a mortality rate of less than 0.05% whereas Covid is estimated to be as high as 1%.

What the pandemic has shown is that there is no hiding. Rich countries, poor countries, social democratic countries, authoritarian have all had it.

Pointless blaming different political parties they are all the same. We have big government tory or even bigger labour. The richest health systems, USA, Germany, Switzerland have had it bad. The efficient ones like the UK have had it the same. I doubt the counting is the same, so comparisons will be pointless at this stage.

One factor I believe that may be a difference is the discipline of the populous. But even compliant countries like Japan are suffering.

Professionals with the ability to work from home may have ducked in the first wave but how many “deserved a good Christmas” or “needed the summer holiday”

The virus hurts the old and weak, perhaps the NHS keeps them going longer than other health systems, so it’s a leveler.

Stay at home and protect the NHS worked for 3 months but the population got bored. We are a fat, unfit, self-absorbed, superficial society and above all always blaming others. Not sure if it is a UK thing or a western world

Agree that hindsight is a wonderful thing but come on there is a lot on there that are contributing factors that could have been resolved easily and with a bit of foresight.

It’s an incredibly difficult situation to be in but they have been too reactive at times. This has cost lives. No two ways about it.

What was we being said last March the reason we are in lockdown is because we know nothing about this Virus. But then last March Covid19 was removed from the HCID list stating they know everything they need to know about covid19 and it has a very small mortality rate. And no where near 1% as you stated above not even using commodities.
So yes it’s a particularly nasty virus but in now way did it deserve for the world to be locked down. The impact of Covid19 will kill more people than the virus itself but do you even care about those losing there jobs, business’s, there lives, Families,
The extremely rich have got richer threw this and the poor has got poorer. Kids in deprived areas are now doing there school work from unqualified parents on cracked smart phone screens.
For those that say I am a denier here is my thoughts
Is Covid Real ? Yes
Is it particularly nasty ? Yes but no worse than many viruses over the years
Are the government using Covid for there own agendas ? To damn right they are
Should we be in lockdown ? Hell no
Should we be taking the vaccine ? Personal choice for me its a no if anyone wants to take it crack on
Should we be wearing masks ? Nope they don’t protect against viruses.

Bear in mind this is only for the previous 7 days, although we're still looking good overall and all 4 UK nations have some of the highest vaccination rates globally.

Total Vaccinations numbers (percentage of pop) as of Jan 29th:
England - 16.4
N. Ireland - 15.1
Wales - 14.4
Scotland - 10.6

From the above graph I would expect us to pass NI soon if the current rates hold. Weekends seem to do funky things to vaccine and Covid numbers otherwise I would've guessed we would pass NI within the next couple days.

In other words wales has FINALLY caught up with the Scotalnd , NI and England.

I dont think you can compare Japan with the UK. Japanese genetics is a very pure . There has never been an occupying invasion of Japan, so the gene pool is very very specific. They were a closed nation for hundreds of years. That plus a very healthy diet is why Japanese citizens live the longest in the world. We also do not know what strains they have had. Why did so many in Lombardie die ?

Having lived in japan for a year - they are very compliant when it comes to govt warnings and especially when it comes to wearing masks (unlike the idiots we have in the UK).
ps Given all that, Tokyo is still in lockdown and has been locked down for a while even though their infection rate is low
