His replacement here is on less money and has scored 8 in 18

Double the amount of goals in less games

Great decision by the club when you go by solid stats.

Patterson was likeable but if people are honest he's a hard working utility man not a 1st choice striker

Even Glatzel is pretty much matching his tally this season that says it all

Patterson was signed as a defender - so who was his replacement that has scored 8 goals ?

As we all know Patterson has played in defence, in midfield up front and also just behind the main striker. Massive thrown on him, a disrupter of play and general pain for the opposition.

Exactly :thumbright: :bluebird:

Miss pretty obvious as Patterson played up front for us last season that Moore was his replacement. He has scored 8 goals in 18 games , a fact

Weve got a team full of disruptive players. Its the reason why we can't string 2 passes together. Can't fault his effort and passion but he was hardly a technically gifted player. Personally, I think we should expect more from our players than just being a pain for the opposition.

thomasblue wrote:Hes a decent player at this level but let's be honest he's not great. The amount of chances he used to miss and his headers going nowhere cost us points multiple times.

He is a solid workhorse at this level and gives 100% every game which we miss badly but in reality he's a bog standard championship utility player . To get promoted we needed better.

Good luck to him at Wednesday but he will never score 10 or more goals a season up front, he will stick around 5/7 most seasons not because of his ability as a striker but his insistence of busting a gut to get into the box.

If he was on the £25k plus reported
here then I can fully see why we got him off the wage bill

Completely agree. Every time I saw him play he always happy to chase a loose ball, chase back etc. But let’s not pretend we’ve sold off a reliable striker. He was ok at best.

Hindsight of course is incredible. He’s scored 2 goals in a row. When he’s helped get Sheffield safe in the league then we can say we’ve lost out.

Callum Paterson for the last time was never ever signed as a striker and is not an out and out goal scorer :thumbright:

He is a utility player who was used mainly as a second striker here under Warnock and led our attack for pretty much the whole Premier league season. His position this season was filled with three quality signings in Wilson, Ojo and Moore who have scored 14 goals between them so far. All three up to this weekend had either matched or easily bettered his tally of goals and assists.

The decision to let him go seems the correct one so far to me.

I liked him but he lacked in real quality in any position

And worse, he didn't want to go! In fact, was pretty narked by it...! :(

Players change position. Bale used to be a LB, Kompany used to play CM, Lahm went from full back to midfield, Giggs used to play on the wing then changed to sit back in midfield and Patterson used to play RB and was signed as one. But I guarantee we played him as an attacker more than we played him as a defender.

Sign them back up; all of them! :|

Well, that seems to be the theme of some...

And don't forget Joe Jacobsen, who created a goal for Wycombe in the week! :laughing6:

Sign Ainsworth back up too!!! Get Ledley whilst we’re at it.

I’ve been a City fan for 20 years now, season ticket holder for 12 of them. I can now safely assume there’s the realistic City fans and then there’s the absolute loons who make out we’ve turned into some shit show. Only for a few seasons did we play expansive progressive football. That all changed remember about 10 years or so ago.

With all these ups and downs I wouldn’t have it any other way!!! If I wanted to support a safe team I’d support Liverpool!!!! All this drama is what makes supporting ‘local’ footy interesting!!

Was he worth 27k a week ?
I'm sure he's on nowhere near that at Wednesday and is probably the reason he wanted to stay

so he wanted to stay...had 2 years left on a contract but went there for less money ...yeah i would too...

So it proves the club didn't want him and his large wages.
They sold him rather than pay big wages for a very average player. Good business by the club

think you missed the point .... you cant just tell a player under contract to go and live in Sheffield and get paid a lot less..
