NEIL HARRIS:

"We got what we deserved over the 90 minutes.

"First half was the worst I have seen us in my time in charge in my opinion - outfought, outrun, too many first contacts, second balls, didn't defend the penalty area in the first half hour of the game.

"I praise my players second half - outstanding, absolutely outstanding. We bossed the game much better and looked a lot better going forward.

"People will watch the goal and think what a goal, worth winning any game. It was, but it just sums us up over the course of the first half, where the ball goes forward and somebody runs off the back of us."

Think about it - they’re what are in the squad so ergo they should be good enough for this level.
Bacuna can’t be judged by his RB performances- he’s got to be in CM instead of either Vaulks or Ralls or Pack in CM. Certainly Vaulks who is no better than a Sunday leaguer.
How do we know what Whyte and Harris can do if he doesn’t play them?
Bagan showed he can be a decent WB and has in 2 games been better IMO then Bennett.

We were better second half but he's said it was the worst first half since he's been here so it had to be better surely?
After those words I'm expecting a few players to be dropped - injuries or not - and if Harris doesn't do it, it just shows that he's spouted a load of empty words.
Like you Annis, I'll always support the team and i'll back managers but I'm afraid my patience is wearing thin

Time to drop the old wood - this season has gone - so Bennett Morrison Hoilett Ralls etc your time is up.
Time for Bagan Harris Benkovic Whyte and whoever is doing ok in the development squad time to step up.
Why wait any longer?
I’m fed up of seeing other clubs on EFL Quest playing kids with PACE and enthusiasm who show endeavour compared to our wooden bunch

Perhaps he should get them off their knees and get them playing. Half them only thing they are interested in.

This season has gone? Give me a break

Five points off the play-offs and eight points off the top two with 37 games to go.

It's been a very bad start, but to say this season has gone is ridiculous.

Gavin Whyte has had enough chances to prove himself and has struggled every single time. He's also 24 years old, it would be different if he was 19-22 and in the early development of his career - such as Joel Bagan.

Harris and Bagan have potential, no doubt about that. But that's all it is at this point.

I can't agree that time is up for Morrison and Ralls. All three of them still add something to the team and are three of our best players - age wise they are 29 and 27 respectively. Still have plenty of years left at this level. I would say, and many pundits have said the same, that Sean Morrison is one of the best defenders in the Championship. He was outstanding at Preston.

Sort of take your point about Bennett, he has been getting worse over the last couple of seasons unfortunately. He has more competition now with Cunningham and Bagan, and I'm sure one of them will permanently dislodge him from the team during this season.

Hoilett hasn't been consistently good for us for a while now. When everyone is fit, I don't think he should be starting. I think the likely starting wide players will be Wilson and Ojo, and I'd be happy with that.

As for Benkovic, he is highly rated by Leicester and they wouldn't have loaned him to us if they didn't think he'd be playing regular football. Once he's got up to speed, I think he'll be starting with Morrison. Wouldn't shock me if he starts on Tuesday.

To be honest, I couldn't give a flying f**k what their political views are if they start playing well.

If they put in good performances, they can turn up to the stadium in KKK outfits for all I care.

A huge gamble to say things like that about the players.

In cases like these, it goes one of two ways - they respond to it and start performing much better, or Harris has lost them forever.

High risk press conference from the manager.

I have to agree with him, most fans would to if honest enough, the team is responsible for performance, they are the ones who cannot string simple passes together, they are the ones lacking desire,it's all very well to say he picks the team, and tactics, but it's hardly his fault some players cannot at least shoe some passion for a start, I'm glad he has taken this opportunity to speak his mind, because he is correct, you don't want to play, and show some balls, then f@ck off! I'd pick youngsters to replace the players he is referring to,let them see, they have to work for their fat paypackets.

Kudos Harris for having the balls to make such a bold statement, as said can go either way now,but at least he is being totally honest, warnock b,ess him would not have done that, rather paper over the cracks, bad ref,we deserved more, etc etc. :old: :bluebird:

Fair play I liked his honesty in his interview. Not sure why so.much hate towards our manager though....He clearly cares and wants to do well whether he is the right person in the job or not...

If we lose at home to Barnsley he might just be done based on our chairman expectations

Bakedalasker wrote:To be fair that is a good statement from him.

Hopefully that has embarrassed the players and will give them the kick up the backsides they need. If they don't respond to that them bring in some of the youth who want to give it a go. That would be the ultimate insult and if that does not do the trick then its goodbye.

I agree!

He holds all the cards, in as much as the players can either buy in and perform or they can wallow in the Under 23's (if they're lucky) until they can be moved on or their contracts paid up!

Neil Harris didn't name specific players but it was clear who some, if not all, were today. The supporters are not daft when it comes to seeing who is putting in a shift and the manager has shown above that he can see it, too!

Hopefully a slightly different team selection and a more positive approach versus a very average Barnsley team surprisingly level with us on points currently

Sometimes you look at a club , the performances and results. Then look at the squad and you can only come to the conclusion the players are trying to get the manager sacked.

It has happened at clubs like Chelsea and Man utdnplus a few others

Are the players just not happy with Harris and his way of managing ?

If they've lost faith and dont buy into what Harris is trying to do the easiest thing to do is down tools

Its either the players have given ip or the manager is not good enough because the squad certainly is

Yeah what a statement.

I'm struggling with the players taking the knee but I tolerate it as I consider most players have got an IQ below the average. However, turning up as KKK I could not use the low IQ excuse there to forgive them.

i think 2nd halves being better than 1st halves and clawing goals back sort of dispels that.. but... someone posted on here last night how subdued our goal celebrations were yesterday... i hadnt noticed but watched the highlights and think he was right...very strange...

I maybe a bit old school, but if players are deliberately trying to sabotage his tenure, then I would play the kids,f#ck any prima donna type players into the u23's,as to me that shows deceit, lack of trust, and unprofessional attitude, like throwing their toys out of the pram, because maybe they cannot adapt to what the new manager wants playing style wise!! There are no pogba type players here, or are there??

if he is trying to change the style of play - fair enough.
Maybe there are certain players that cant / wont change. Maybe some players that Harris has the approach / tactics to games.
That is up to Harris to sort out. But from an owners / chairman's point of view - at the end of last season we got into the play offs and now we are way down.

Harris seems to be saying certain players arent giving their all - who is that then ?

Could be the Warnock old guard.. same happened to Cloughie at Leeds..must have been great being a Leeds fan watching Forest pick up the title and 2 EC’s..
I know that if one or two players keep making mistakes, it drives the others mad and can lead to resentment. The competitive side of the players allows no weakness or pity.. just scorn.

think its a big jump from not exactly being enthusiastic about the manager and his tactics to sabotage...
besides 4 games on a spin we have gone behind only to then come back and draw level ?
