The number of people dying in the UK is more than 10% above normal levels - with almost all of the excess linked to Covid, official figures show. There were 12,292 deaths in the week ending 23 October - 1,100 where Covid was mentioned on the death certificate

That's quite a jump, no matter what happens an increase in Hospital admissions and deaths in the next few weeks will filter through.

When the lockdown finally ends, I wouldn't imagine too many changes to the previous local lockdown restrictions, but countrywide?

Right-o... and how many people are in hospital with covid in south wales? literally a handful.

You won't go far wrong if you listen to the Doctors. They're the ones seeing what's happening and dealing with the workload.

They are not under pressure yet and you do realise that lockdown is not free more people will die of deprivation and poverty than anything else.

we keep borrowing money at this rate and the pound could collapse making us all poorer.

life is a risk I will take my chances.

It's a big feckin handful :laughing6:
Don't forget the numbers have been doubling every nine days so that should continue for weeks as they are already in waiting or baked in as Boris likes to say.

How many people are in hospital with coronavirus?
The number of patients in hospital in Wales with coronavirus is now the highest since June.

There were 1,110 coronavirus-related patients in hospital beds - 24% more than the week before. This is more than 80% of the number at the peak (1,347 patients)
Of those - 655 were confirmed Covid-19 patients - the highest figure since May. There were 252 patients with suspected Covid and 203 who were recovering from the virus

Furlough extended until March - Sunak

Chancellor Rishi Sunak tells MPs says the government’s highest priority remains the same – to “protect jobs and livelihoods”.

However, he says given the worse economic situation, he believes it is “right to go further”.

He says the furlough scheme will be extended until the end of March. He confirms it will pay 80% of salaries.

He says the policy will be reviewed in January “to decide whether economic circumstances are improving enough to ask employers to contribute more”.

He says this means the incentive of the Job Retention bonus falls away.

My son got a job as a porter at a local hospital. He got out after 3 weeks. There's an amber ward for suspected and the real thing ward with the covid patients. He feared he would catch it.Both are full.
The idea of the lockdown is to keep people out of hospital.
U.K high dependancy ward capacity at each hospital is not great.Apparantly if you get flu and covid at the same time you could be fucked.
If you don't think the threat is real get a job in an hospital.

Yeah you’re not far wrong. As of this week just 23 in Llandough hospital and none of those are in intensive care.
Most of them are patients who have caught it in the hospital and are patients suffering from dementia etc.

The case rates - the number of positive tests per 100,000 people over seven days - helps us look at where infections are spreading and how fast.

There have been worries over how the number of cases have risen in the Heads of the Valleys, with Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Blaenau Gwent seeing cases start to spike and become among the worst in the UK.

Wrexham and around Swansea and Neath Port Talbot have also seen rises during the firebreak period.

But there are signs of improvement in the most recent sets of figures.

The government has defended its use of Covid statistics after data shown in a presentation to justify the current lockdown in England had to be revised. A chart presented at Saturday's No 10 briefing suggested a worse-case figure of up to 1,500 deaths a day by December 8, well above April's 1,000 peak. This has now been adjusted down to 1,010 a day, after an error was found.
