There certainly doesn’t seem to be the widespread threat to everyone from all ages that we were seeing on the news back in March.
According to Boris and his two advisers yesterday, the increase in infections were initially in the younger age groups, but in recent days, more people in older age groups are becoming infected. This will eventually result in an increase in hospitalisation and possible deaths.
What also concerns me is the growing support of the anti-lockdown groups which we saw in London over last weekend. Not only were they gathering in large numbers without masks for the rally; they were being lectured to by people such as Jeremy Corbyn's brother, Piers along with the controversial David Icke and his son Gareth. If these people don't wish to take the vaccine if and when it arrives, I agree it should be their choice; but to brainwash the congregation into removing face coverings in all settings and do away with social distancing is criminal. These people truly believe that the lockdowns are all part of some 'alternative agenda' without explaining what can be gained by this.
you need an explanation for what the agenda might be..
but accept an explanation that includes we best start locking down ..because 900 people died in the UK ..with and not necessarily of covid in the last 2 months... out of 80kplus that died of all causes in the last 2 months.. thats roughly 1 covid death out of every 90 deaths
or it not explained why a country has ruined its economy and health service for 40k deaths when we normally get over 600k a year..which translates to a village of 1700 pple that would ordinarily have 16/17 deaths a year might now have 1 more death..might because the 1 is most likely to be older than the age of life expectancy and have multiple illnesses and could well have been one of the original deaths anyway... the numbers are all online and all on government sites..
brainwashed for being able to count ? jeez .
keep mask wearing and keep scaremongering..

David Icke predicted the destroying of the economy last year way before this virus came.
we had a massive debt problem before this year which cant be covered, this will destroy all the western economies.
i think it may be planned. i cant see how we dont have total collaspe on society by the time its all over.

Unchecked 20K a day would be in less than three weeks, you are just assuming the numbers don't increase every day without any measures in place, the rate of increase is why the virus is so serious, the measures are there to stop it spreading!

It's easier for some people to bury their head and believe all the conspiracy nonsense than to face reality. The way this is going we will be in full lockdown before the end of October with Bojo, Whitty and Vallance back on the TV at 5pm.
It's a deeply unpleasant feeling but there we are.

So full lockdown would appear to be the only way to control the virus until a vaccine is available?
Let's say that takes six months.
Then the vaccine has to be administered. Let's say only the most vulnerable are given it initially - how long would it take to do that - say two months. During that time lockdown will have to continue.
Then lockdown will need to remain until we can be sure that the vaccine actually works for the vulnerable - say another six months.
Then we have to vaccinate the rest of the population - how long would that take? A couple of years?
And then we have to keep our fingers crossed for the next five, ten, twenty years that the vaccine that has been rushed through has no serious life threatening side effects.
All this time we are determined to make sure the NHS is not overrun so hundreds of thousands of people will die directly or indirectly from the lockdowns but at least we'll be keeping the infection rate and death from this virus under control.
We have to learn to live with this virus - it's not going away. We're not going to cure it. We're never going to "control" it. We've had a flu vaccine for years now and yet thousands of people still die from flu every year. Unfortunately they tend to be the oldest and weakest and it will be the same with this virus - sad but true.
Even with a vaccine this virus will continue to kill people. We have to accept that - take what steps we can to protect the vulnerable without completely altering the way we live for something that will never be eradicated but fortunately will not kill over 99% of the people who contract it.

I 2nd that,a very good postI said a few months back,we will have localised lockdowns for a long time to come,as you point out, they will quell the numbers, open up,numbers rise again, lockdown, and repeat

They built all these extra hospitals to cope with a 'second wave', yetare now puting anyone with a symptom of Covid into exisiting hospitals - replacing beds urgently needed for cancer etc.

Boris is going against Whitty and Van-Tam, they wanted a full circuit break lockdown 3 or 4 weeks ago, and still feel level three lockdowns not enough. Good for him we have to take care but still allow people some freedom to make their own decisions, and trying and keep the economy ticking over as much as possible.
Drakeford has also written to him with an ultimatum, stop the English from high risk areas coming into low risk welsh districts or we will, the little tin pot dictator![]()
Drakeford and Krankie will go higher than tier three measures for sure!
