Take a look around, people are taking hits left right and centre, where I work we have all given up our annual bonus for the good of the company, technically we are entitled to it as it was target driven but knowing the place needs to stay financially on top we have taken agreed to waive it and have been told if possible we will get it next year.

I mean if the place you work is genuinely at the verge of going under you to WHATEVER you can to help don't you.

It will be tough justice if Dover fold and some of these players can't find new Clubs. It's not like the owner is doinh it for shits and giggles, its where we are at

i would imagine Dover havent got these players on contracts because the players are crap... they are not Dover boys and like most players were head hunted by that club with financial incentives which they can now not pay them.. no doubt many of these are being offered more or their original wages elsewhere... its how football is and has always been the Welsh prem and league of Wales clubs are like a giant game of musical chairs every year mostly fueled by money. its not really like your office and a one off bonus... its agreeing a reduction while possibly being able to work and earn more elsewhere for who knows how long while using up a registration in a situation where the club could end up going bust and owing you money ... these players are now free to leave.. and Dover will sign lesser, cheaper , more sustainable players which is maybe what they should have been doing to start with...

Yes players are free to leave to go to a club that can afford to pay them? Only a couple may be good enough to get a contract but seriously doubt it as most if not all clubs reducing how many players they have... watched an interesting programme last year about players out of contract be surprised how many there are and how many dont find a club once released that situation as become obviously more acute .....you are right probably about dovers owner but footballers are privileged as no matter what happens they get paid even if club let's them go while under contract... but poor tea lady doesn't have that privilege! The argument about pfa looking after its members is correct but there again a club as other workers as well so do players ignore them and say not my problem I want all my money? Pret a manger staff except less hours to safeguard jobs why cant footballers fo similar to safeguard the club? I know about arsenal but players did accept cut but owners just greedy and out touch with fans...

are you not reading any other football articles ? ..yes they will b good enough to get contracts elsewhere and yes all clubs of all sizes are training and prepping for the coming season which includes assembling squads..

Dover players good enough? Just said they're crap that's why not on contracts!!! So be struggling to get a club in today's climate thats for sure..... if each club cut squad by just 5 players that's 300 players without a club in efl who's going to sign them up? At end day pfa can play roulette with owners all day long but who loses out players or taylor if club goes into administration or bust? And that is the simple equation..... As I've said and rv have said given choice 20% pay cut or no contract what is preferable

no mate i havent said they are crap... and had i said..or if they were not under contract this rather silly article wouldnt even be here..their chaiman like most in wales and infact most at non league level would have been re negotiating one year new deals that players would accept and others decline. its how football works..

Not being funny but my employers sought “pay deferrals” off between 10% and 40%, depending on salary, at the start of lockdown - and, with the exception of a very few, we all agreed

My deferral was 30%. My salary has been 30% short since March (to help out) and I’ll get it back in October

I am sure many on here have done likewise

I’m accepting 30% less per month I’ve had to make sacrifices. Some bills have gone unpaid but you do it for the greater good

It’s a shame footballers don’t think likewise

Wage cap is the only way forward for these greedy bast.....

No footballers in champ should be on no more than 10000 a week tops.

If the club makes a profit by all means share profits betweet fans for cheapeer ticket prices and player bonuses.

10k a year pension topped up with volunteer work with ambulance service for which I make £200 profit monthly!

Lowest of the low footballers in div 2 earn at least 6k a month minimum if the programme on players is to go by now that is not great but its lot better than your average public get thats for sure...... but anyway time to draw line under this as totally different opinions on subject.

Maybe for a lot of the players taking a 20% pay cut is effectively losing they job in terms of effects it may have on them. I’d imagine they not on much more than 18k to 30k and all probably living on the limit due to the uncertainty of having a contract for a set time unlike the vast majority of employees who contract is for an unlimited time.
