I'm no great fan of Stroud but agree with you that in real time I thought red and having watched it on the reply I still think he got it right. Law 12 covers it:

Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.

Just about describes that challenge perfectly and serious foul play is a straight red card.

Referees are not cheats, they are the only unbiased people at all games! It’s the most difficult job on the field, try it if you think otherwise! They can like players make mistakes but they are definitely not cheats!

Totally agree.
I remember a documentary when a ref was microphoned during a match when Arsenal were playing Millwall at the Den in the 80s I think and Tony Adams called him an “effing cheat” during the game. The ref called him over and said something like “I maybe blind and may have missed something but I’m not a cheat”
Absolutely right.
We all have opinions and that’s what makes the game so great imo.

The midget isn’t a cheat- he just got conned and/or is incompetent.

The hysterics by that Dutch guy at Reading was embarrassing and as for yesterday well what’s the point of players tackling if his opponent rolls around, screams and plays up? It’s sickening.

The ref we had at Fulham got conned by Mitrovic for a penalty, refused a stonewall one on Ward and allowed Fulham players foul after foul without showing cards.

Could he have reffed tonight? Might've at least got one decision.

To be fair we cant argue about the penalty and also they should have had another which was just as obvious.

Sending off was 50/50 but was a reckless tackle, it makes no difference if he touched the ball in committing the foul.
