"Smashed up their city".
You'd be surprised to hear, that no, the city wasn't smashed up. One statue was pulled down. A statue that was already controversial anyway and should have been removed years ago. That was the only "smashing up" that happened. There was no desecration of war memories (which I am totally against btw), there was no damage to anything else in the city or any persons in the city. So maybe you need to rethink what you believe.pembroke allan wrote:Forgot to say he was anti colston and what he stood for..... also they now want a statue of a civil rights activist from the 60s erected
I mean that really isn't a controversial view in Bristol.
Colston was slave trader. There have been discussions about taking down the statue for decades now.
What would be wrong with having a statue of someone who won better rights for minorities in Bristol?

No it wasnt but lets eradicated city history and replace it with an activist from the 60s! Sure there are more worthy recipients of a statue than a person who did something in the 60s he did something to help people use busses , whilst the other helped build Bristol into the city it is today.. now they want remove statue from cardiff town hall of picton seems there is a movement to forget past history's of citys....

That'll be old Pickie doomed then. I mean, apart from the slavery and torture and that, what did he do to harm anyone.

They have the same rights as everybody else...
The black community should start reading Luther King, instead of listening to Ice-T. Luther King specifically relating to education.
Honestly, the black kids they put up on tv complaining about lack of jobs sound like gangster rappers...who tf is gonna employ that?
