That is simply not true thomasblue,if you are injured at work, your company are obliged to find you a position in the company, that suits your current injury needs, maybe not what you were signed up for,but a position nonetheless.most people who are injured whilst performing their duties, can also claim compensation! Not be fired as you suggest.if I had a bad injury that was due to me doing my work, there are things put in place where you cannot just be f@cked off.whilst I agree with you in terms of being a supporter, and what we would like to see happen,it simply can't. :old: :bluebird:

Rubbish. If you offer services and sign a contract then are unable to carry out those services then you are not honouring the contract.
That contract can be seen as null and void. How can a player only be able to be fit for 10 minutes of a whole season ?
If he wants a role whilst injured make him a ball boy and pay him accordingly

Exatly in my previous job that was very much reason why few staff lost there jobs because they couldnt do the job role all worked out of company

well the company broke the law then. you cant sack someone for injuring themselves at work..

Who said they injured there selves at work 2 people who I worked with suffered injuries one was from football oddly there was no suitable job role at all for him so company got occupational health who agreed that yes he was un able to do his contractual job so he was managed out of company so I think you find that yes they can

so your answer to its against the law to sack someone who got injured at work....is its not because you know 2 people sacked that were not injured at work..

Not rubbish at all dogfound, after all,we are talking about an injury, that clearly in Vassells case, occurred whilst performing the very role he had signed up for,if you believe he can be dismissed for not being able to play, I'm afraid you are wrong.if it was the case how come players don't get sacked, when suffering long term injuries?? And they have to pay him even if he is off sick,it's very hard to sack a person who has suffered injury at work,I had a serious rta in 2012,whilst travelling in a company car, from one post to another,on works time, after it was discovered I had broken my c6 and u7vertibrae, meaning a lengthy lay off,the company I was working for,did what you suggest, and sent me a p.45 in the post, quoting I was unable to fulfill my normal duties, and therefore sacked basically.after seeking legal advice I challenged the decision and guess what? I won, even when I returned to work, some 14 months later, they had to still pay me manager salary, even though my role wasn't really managerial any longer, and the only downside was I had to reduce my hours, doue to affects of spinal chord compromise. Surely if was possible, there are plenty of players who would be classed as "unable to fulfill their contractual obligations" due to injury, and just be fired.different if you injure yourself outside of your parameters of work, like playing footy on a Sunday, on your day off for instance. :old: :bluebird:
