Me too. I suggested that if he did come back he would play two or three games and be out for the rest of the season. Obviously this was wildly optimistic he only lasted 25 minutes. I wonder what the "it's only a bit of bad luck" people have to say for themselves now.

Don’t forget Transfer committee formed 4yrs ago Tan, Choo, Dalman and any manager we have at the time all have their say in new signings.

Vassell was injury prone at Birmingham and had been injured for well over a year .

Also for me Vassell has been rushed back.

The whole committee once again have to take the blame for £millions wasted.

Come on Annis, this was a Warnock buy,the committee as has been said a billion times have no real football experience, they trusted warnock way too much imho,as he has had such a long career in the game.if warnock thought the player was good enough, the committee believed he knew better than them,it's always them that has to shoulder the blame, and for the record, what is his big wage you aluded to? Warnock is as much to blame as anyone in my eyes, and not just on this rather small (fee wise) player either!! :old: :bluebird:

Didn't see the game, but I've been told 19 year old Tavio D'Almeida stood out and was a class apart apparently. Interesting that he was captain for this game and it seems he's progressing nicely since we picked him up from Auxerre in the summer. Apparently, he ran the game sitting in front of the back four. I've never seen him play myself, but he was on the bench for the Luton cup game earlier this season and from what I've heard from those who have seen him play this season, he seems very interesting.

Wez,

The committee decided to let Warnock buy an injury prone player.

But if they didnt you would of said that they didnt back warnock ultimately the manager sources the player and then either the club back the manager or not

you do know he had been fit for 6 months.
and passed a medical.
and if you don't sign players who have been out with injury we wouldn't have had CP, Campbel , this guy from bournemouth, or even Rambo on loan..etc etc etc etc etc....bit silly pretending your a doctor.. maybe you and that welsh bloke should open a surgery.. no appointments just guess a diagnosis over the phone..

Why don't you give it a rest, you seem to post every time I say my piece! They are all to blame of course, but that's never mentioned in the post is it? You seem to think I need attention, yet you disagree with all I say! ! Harry Redknapp signed Vassel for Birmingham during his very brief tenure there.

So that's two old stalwarts who thought he was worth a punt.

The ‘transfer committee’ is an embarrassment and Harris should be robust by telling Tan he can’t do his job if non footballing people have a say in who signs.

Send them back to their counting houses and let the football people have control.

I would be grateful if you could explain to me how I could have had a bet on a Cardiff City player being injured in a game for our under 23s. I rather suspect that if the bookies were offering odds on Vaselll being injured they would be very short.

True I am not a doctor but one look at Vassells record in the las two seasons with Birmingham tells you all you need to know. He plays two or three games almost always as a late subsistute, gets injured and is out for months comes back plays two or three games gets injured and is out again for months and this is over two seasons. For us he managed a whole 5 minutes against Luton in the first match and I am not sure what in the second match 20 minutes. So we have had 25 mintes of football out of him in a season 48 minute if you count the under 23 game. My point is you don't need to be a doctor or Mystic Meg to predict that this guy was going to be a crock.

how about you actually look at his career stats instead of talking didlydunk.. he played 40,39,40 . the 3 years prior to joining
in perspective, only sean morrison has played that many games for ourselves in the last 3 years...he joined Birmingham and 9 games in got long term injured...was out in total over a year... came back was fit for 6 months made mostly sub/ u 23s apps...so where does this 3 games nonsense come from ?

Re: GREAT WIN / BUT VASSELL OFF INJURED AGAIN

Tue Mar 03, 2020 11:23 pm

He certainly did not play 39,40 and 40 games prior to joint us you are going back to this Truro and Luton days. In his two season before joining us he played 11 and 14 games only actually managing to start 5 games in the league and 1 in the league cup. For gods sake if he had played all those games before joing us no one would have had the slightest qualms about the signing.

The fact of the matter is several people on here said it was a huge risk signing him because he'd been a total crock at Birmingham they were right and you and Warnock were wrong and he has been a total waste of money.

Fair enough, but my belief is they trusted warnocks word a little too much, due to his lengthy career, and record of promotional experience, whilst dogfound feels I have an agenda against warnock? Just because my view is different to his!as you would know,I described his achievements favourably, and described him as one of,if not the best we've had in my years of supporting the city. But I will speak as I see,and he made some real bad decisions with the players he brought in,and rather costly ones at that.he also found some gems too,no doubt, according to the press, his contract was terminated mutually, why? was it because of the poor start we had,or did he realise he could no longer get his team to perform as they had done for him in previous two seasons? I suppose we will have to wait for him to write about it in a book.but for dogfound to say he was "hounded out" is simply weak, unless he thinks there is sufficient evidence otherwise,to show that was the reason,I didn't witness ANY campaign or chanting at games for him to go,just a few of us on here, who could see he couldn't get the players up,worse in the derby games.he will always be remembered fondly, but we must not forget,he left saying we were a squad capable of automatic promotion, which we have all witnessed,is a million miles from the truth.yet when Harris says the squad has quality,it's slammed on here?? The times warnocks interviews after a loss were totally opposite to what was witnessed by fans and media, I lost count, yet there wasn't fans calling for his head or mocking him, just think it's double standards, as Harris is our manager, whether we like it or not,how come some posters seem so hopeful for him to fail? I find it rather strange, that's all. :old: :bluebird:

the word Birmingham was missing, sorry, should have read prior to joining Birmingham...and yes you have to go back prior to his injury at brum to check whats being said about the 3 games and injured as that did not happen at brum so therefore the loopies either were talking bollox or this injury prone stuff was further back ? .... but yes your correct in that several posters who have probably never even met the fella or in fact even bothered checking his record said he would be a crock , ... ….and several professionals who know the player, his record and had medical advice thought differently .
he played 40, 39, 40 ,11 got injured. came back ,made 14 apps transferred to us...
to be wrong youd have had to show you claims of injury prone to be correct
all you've done is repeat parrot fashion a myth
