Man City, for all their resources and academy system have only one player from their academy to make more than 50 Premier League starts for them, and that was Micah Richards

What have we produced in the last 10yrs that have made it?

I agree that something needs to be sorted re our whole youth scouting / coaching / academy etc. But I don’t necessarily agree that getting rid of players who in their opinion are not up to the required standard is the wrong thing to do.
I’d love us to produce our home grown players on a far more regular basis - we’ve not done enough of this for a whole now - but the current crop may not be good enough and if that’s the case, it’s the right decision to let them go now.
All opinions though, and that’s mine.

I have always thought Coxe was being played out of position. He is not a defender and should have been converted to right-wing/forward IMO.
The only product of the academy I can think of over the past 10 years is Declan John who hasn't pulled up trees since leaving.

Not enough mate, that’s why it needs sorting imho.

Name one.
I'll name 3 just for you that are recent rather than go into detail and past stupid decisions by our board , managers and academy.
Sami Ajayi
He was never given a chance here and would walk into our defence at the moment. Will be a premier league defender next season.
Tom Lockyer
Now a welsh international and solid championship defender doing very well.
Rabie Matondo
Never made a appearance for us and ended up at Schalke
Ajayi has stuck at it and good luck to him.. but he was a product of Charltons academy not ours, pinched by and then released by Arsenal and then released by ourselves. wasn't exactly a queue of championship or prem teams wanting to sugn him either...
Lockyer ? its taken him 9 years to get anywhere near the level we are at.. any idea how many academy players have come during those 9 years ?
and matondo . we had no choice..

I’m in shock as he had so much potential, are we making these players go backwards as No one is making it.

If you remember about 10 years ago Cardiff had 7 players in the wales team the beat England 4-1 in the victory shield Only one of them played a league game for City The academy went backwards when Neil Ardley took over

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Ralls someone else's product that we have benefited from.
Has anyone thought that the reason why we don't bring youth through is because we set the bar too low?
At least the issue is now being addressed.
But someone ought to warn that academy fella he's only got ten games to turn it around or he's out.![]()

As far as I'm concerned if he don't produce a 20+ goal a season striker in 3mths I'm gonna diss him all over twitter cause everybody knows only the truth is ever spoked on there.

I do remember and loved it .
I love hearing stuff like that.
My personal opinion is that it’s all been badly managed for the last 10 years.

Young lad, 18 years of age debut in first team up against a very good winger in Scannell...being a local lad the fans will hopefully give Cameron a chance and judge him more accurately after he plays a few more games. He is an ever present at full back for Wales at many ages and just this week progressed to the Under 23 team...He lives near me in Trelewis at the bottom of the Merthyr valley and we are very proud of him doing so well in getting into the team which has proved very difficult for many other youngsters in the past.

Has been dealt with terribly IMO. Not been given the chance to go out on loan and when deals have been agreed the club have pulled out at the last second.
Now the club have no plans for him and have cast him aside outside of the transfer window so he’ll now have to wait until summer to sign and play for a new team.
Least they could do is send him out to a conference team on loan now given there’s no point in him playing for our development team if he has no future here.

Cameron Coxe released.....
Bit of a shocker but unfortunately yesterday and today 8 Under 23 players have been released by the club.
Cameron being the most high profile of the youngsters.
Steve Morrisons brush is sweeping clean.
Paid up until the end of the season but all eight are clubless having been told they’re not good enough and shown the door.
Looks like Harris and Morison ain’t messing about.
Cardiff City wield the axe as Cameron Coxe one of eight youngsters told they have no future at the club

Cardiff City have told eight academy prospects their contracts will not be renewed, with Cameron Coxe set to be the highest-profile casualty.
WalesOnline can confirm Coxe, who has been widely-regard as one of the more promising players in Cardiff's academy in recent years, is one of a clutch of youngsters who have been told that they are
not in the Bluebirds' future plans.
Shamar Moore, Jake Evans and Lawrence Wooton are thought to be other players who will leave, while there are a further four, whose identities are as yet unknown, who are also likely to leave upon completion of their current deals.
Coxe, a Wales under-21 international, has been tipped by many fans and ardent followers of the club's under-23s to go on and have a successful career and that might well be the case.
However, it appears his days at Cardiff City are numbered.
The 21-year-old right back was given two senior outings by Neil Harris in the FA Cup games against Carlisle United, but failed to really grab his opportunity with both hands.
It prompted Harris to say repeatedly that Coxe needs to go out on loan to gain some experience of senior football elsewhere, whether that be League One or Two during the transfer window or in the National League thereafter.
It was telling, too, that on transfer deadline day, Harris recruited young Dion Sanderson, a year Coxe's junior, from Wolves to provide back-up to Jazz Richards following the exit of Lee Peltier.
It will come as a shock to many, especially as it was reported Manchester City were once interested in signing the young Bluebird.
"Unfortunately it's true lads," Coxe's father Neil said on Twitter when responding to the rumours.
"It's a shame but it wasn't to be, hopefully he can kick on somewhere else now."
The concerning contract situations of two key Cardiff City stars in limbo and the transfer decision Neil Harris has to make
While reports and rumours on social media claim the players have been released immediately, we can confirm that is in fact not the case and all players will be allowed to run down their contracts.
This does mean, however, the players affected can begin to plan for their futures and other clubs are now free to talk with them and take them on trial.
While Steve Morison took over as Cardiff City's under-23s coach almost a fortnight ago, it is understood this is a decision that was made by the academy management.
