£7 million good money. There are loads and loads of PL players who haven't cost £20 million. He would only be going to be back up. With 18 months left, we either give him a new improved contract this summer when presumably we would have to match the ridiculous money we are reportedly paying Smithies, or risk him running down his contract for a season and leaving for free.

£7 straight should be snapped up. Bit more consideration if relegation clause but it is West Ham not Villa or Norwich. £5 million straight and £2 million if they stay up fine by me.

it has been reported that Cardiff have turned this offer down and looking for £8m if West Ham stay up add ons so holding out for £10m.

West ham will move their attended to Declan Rudd PNE keeper.

City want £10M and that's the thing. Etheridge is probably Citys most saleable asset and let's hope we stick to it :bluebird:

City wont get that much then what? get rid of one of other surplus keepers for nothing ! We would not suffer if smithies was in goal as yesterday showed.... we need money from sales and released players to invest tan as said this so Etheridge going is perfect for doing so.

Best of luck to him if he goes; he was a major reason for our promotion.

Just please City don’t waste it on Moore

Really no brainer even if dont have confidence in ward it still better to cash in on Etheridge than get rid of smithies for nothing which will still leave ward here as back up.

Ward?? Don't you me day as cover? Unless ward can play in goals of course  whilst I was initially against us selling our best players,I do think Smithies is a good keeper at this level, and if we are to get anything like 8m then it has to be now? But I do wonder if we will price them out of another bid, which could prove a costly error imho. :old: :bluebird:

Sorry yes day I meant! Yes think smithies is more than capable was at other clubs and as been for us too.. we wont get 1k for him so Etheridge needs to go and think it will be big mistake by city to price him out market especially as we all know we need strengthening and need to sell or shift players to finance players this window.

Have we really received a bid? I find it highly unlikely as reported by wales online. They make so much stuff up or draw from this forum.

As it stands Randolph is still being medically assessed and Fabianskis injury isnt as bad as first feared.

I hope Etheridge goes as we can make money on him and still have decent keepers. I actually believe Smithies is the better all rounder.

At the price suggested....sell,sell,sell! As long as the money can be used to strengthen the team. Smithies is a fine keeper so no concerns there.

Sell for sure. Really seen no evidence NH will spend wisely unfortunately
