This is positive news, we've moved on a player that didn't fit and potentially can utilise some wages for a player that Harris wants!

Don't forget he helped get us promoted and his fee would have been more than covered from the Sky money in the Premier League!

Good luck Madine, all the best wherever you go

This post is far too sensible. However, its does represent the view of the vast majority of reasonable club supporters. Unfortunately this site more and more has become the domain of miserable moaners who obviously have really crap lives, and want to make everyone else as miserable as they are. :bluescarf:

As reported elsewhere Gary Madine Salary £12000 pw.Bang average for championship so sorry to all the moaners who think its cost us loads to get rid of him.

I'm sure Gary Madine won't be (quote) "laughing his arse off", as I'm pretty sure he wanted to play football but I guess people (particularly negative ones like you) will take that view

From the start, Madine hasn't truly been given a chance at the club and even after he 'did a job' for Sheffield United last season, he wasn't used on at City despite our other strikers firing more blanks than a Eunuch on heat

The fee and/or wages paid weren't of his making and I am not aware that he made any fuss in his time here; certainly not in the media, which is where most go to bleat about how unfairly they are being treated

But I do agree that it was always going to end up as a 'mutual agreement' due the wages City themselves paid him

Good luck to the guy, I say; and I hope he fixes himself up with a club soon enough :ayatollah:

I’m sorry Sven. Your view is no more valid that mine unless you purport to know Gary personally. Of course he’s laughing he’s gained his wages in advance (minus some maybe) and free to pick up a wage elsewhere. Don’t knock assumptions made by others when you are assuming yourself. My assessment is that he is one of the worst buys we have ever made and even you would struggle to discredit that opinion

Choice is keep him on wages bill or get rid enabling others to come in? Football finance us on its own when it comes to contracts and people can only speculate as to what it will cost club maybe just maybe theres a clause in his severance that he repays it back if he gets signing on fee at another club this is been done before if remember correctly? It just allows both parties to move on amicably.

couple of things...if he just wanted to pick up wages and not play...A } why on earth did he go out on loan { when others have refused } ...and B} why accept whatever money has been negotiated now...he clearly wants to play.
worse buys..? he wasn't brought in to be first choice ahead of someone we sold for 8mill and was valued even higher at the time ,he was brought to give us that extra option and back up...how winning promotion which he contributed to can then be a worse buy is mind blowing.

Strange as it may seem,so would I.
He can win headers,he can hold the ball up,there is no end product as we all know (But miracles do happen) but get out there for 60 minutes and bully them Jack bastards before making way for Ward or Glatzel.

same here mate..strange thing is Harris went out of his way to big Madine up a few times....said he was the best player on the park after he came on at Brentford. yet gone less than a month later ?????????

Re: BREAKING " GARY MADINE "

Never Settled At Cardiff Hense The Reason That He Never Scored For Us. I Wish Him On His Way And Im Sure He Will Do Good Elsewhere, Maybe Millwall Or QPR. It Shows Also That The Club Struggled To Sell Him For Any Money So They Just Let Him Go For Nothing.

Next To Leave Hopefully Bogle AND Vassell Because They Still Have Too Many Strikers. The club Only Need 2 Strikers And We Have That In Paterson, Glatzel AND Danny Ward. PLUS Reid On Loan But Doubtful He Would Stay Unless We Get Promoted Via The Play-Offs.

Re: BREAKING " GARY MADINE "

Perhaps in future we should do loans only rather than been stuck with a player such as madine for 6 mill nobody wants, same as murphy 11 million who would pay that for him today.

Re: BREAKING " GARY MADINE "

Thu Jan 09, 2020 6:14 pm

One the many we have wasted millions on in recent years when cheaper options were available.

Re: BREAKING " GARY MADINE "

Thu Jan 09, 2020 6:15 pm

In the real world , he has just been made redundant.
So a pay off , of maybe 35% of wages due, probably £150k.
If he can find work soon (which he will) good luck to him .

Warnocks signings leave a lot to be desired whenever he spent significant money.

we did try to loan Madine..and tried offering less...and then moved on to other more expensive targets that were even more expensive than we thought which we were not prepared to pay...so it came down to if you want to strengthen your squad to go up you pay the dollar..
football isn't this magic world where its a unilateral decision mate.. teams are allowed to say no..players are allowed to say no..

It appears he may well be one of the players called out for not being proffesional.

I heard there were issues with a few of our players the night before the QPR game last week.

If true, then I can see one or two more leaving in the same manner.

Don’t be a doughnut now we’ve made that back and more after promotion.

That’s ok then, promotion payments cover it lol,we may as well let everyone leave for nothing because we got promotion, and you call me a doughnut lol

Well no the club aren’t letting everybody leave for nothing are they.

They’ve released one player.

So if they get of Murphy, who we paid £11 million for,That in your eyes would be ok because in your view, promotion money would cover it,some people haven’t got a clue

If that's true and coupled with the NH "it will not happen on my watch again" speech this may be the reason for the apparent downing of tools at QPR and manager reaction?

Clearly they won’t get rid of Murphy,my point was, irrelevant of the money we received for getting promotion, getting rid of a player that cost 6 million is madness, and it’s not just happened once its happened numerous times in the past and with different managers

Re: BREAKING " GARY MADINE "

Thu Jan 09, 2020 6:48 pm

Im sure everyone will agree his signing was a massive failure but at times he did produce a good performance, Leeds away his first game and Forest away this year, but for the money we paid the odd few assists and good performances here and there just isnt good enough.

All the best to him though, apparently off up to Sunderland to join up with Phil Parkinson.

im not sure what has happened here , but its not straight forward, its less than a month when Madine came on against Brentford and Harris described him as the best player on the pitch.. its also very early in the window to be writing off any chance of selling or loaning especially when there were a number of managers interested in taking him on loan this time last season { including Harris } .. beats me

based on appearances and no goals yes failure..
he wasn't brought in to be a first choice striker though.. and I doubt to even be a option striker should we go up...
he was brought in to be back up/take pressure off/ be an option...he played we won ,we went up. he wasn't great but didn't need to be to help us get those extra 1 or 2 points..
did a similar job for Sheffield last season..

For me, there’s zero argument about Madine being anything but a waste of money and I imagine Tan has been fuming.

Agreed . IAbsolute fact , if you consider what his recruitments are worth now he has wasted millions Of Tans money that he is now trying to pull back, I just heard about Madine, can’t believe we couldn’t even get 500k for him, just sums up the player judgement and budgeting of the man some on here call a legend. . Would have been a positive step to have got anew face or two through the loan system to freshen the squad up for Sunday. But maybe more movement through Warnocks departures lounge first..........
