Which is my point, it isn’t the end of the discussion is it, reality suggests that it is completely unrepresentative of the point you are trying to make.
The amusing thing (hence the point) is people are clearly continuing to create their own bubble on here, terrified that someone adds a dose of reality.
Dreamer:- “We lost 6-1 and they lost 5-1 so it’s not that bad”
Realist:- “But they did play their reserve side mind, they beat them 3-1 away when full strength”
“5-1 end of discussion”.... proceeds to put fingers in ears whilst shouting “la la la la”.

I didn’t say you did. That is however the theme of the thread to which you are involved.
To say Swansea lost 5-1 to QPR without wanting any expansion is a pointless statement and ultimately misleading in this context as we all now know that it was a reserve side. If you started a seperate thread stating the score with a caveat that it was a severely weakened side then you may well have got your wish and nobody else would add anything.
However to enter a thread where the theme is clearly a comparison between your league result and our cup result in which you are declaring a score and not wanting any expansion in an area which obviously needs it - is pointless. Hope I explained that well enough.

I would have been incredibly shocked had it not been a battering.
We beat them 3-1 at their place earlier in the season when we had our real team out.
And we beat them 3-0 earlier in the season so whats your point?
My point is exactly how I described.
People are using a defeat for our reserves against QPR to compare to your 6-1 league defeat as a yard-stick to state that your score doesn’t look as bad. Also using the result as a door to show how our first team isn’t very good.
We are averaging 2 points per game over the last 5 games and find ourselves in the top 6. To use this result as a way of judging our first team when only 1 of them was in the starting line up is hilarious, comes across as very nervy and desperate
You were playing a team made up mostly of QPR’s reserve players including the fact that two out of their usual deadly front 3 were not playing against you.
Our players were pathetic in that game v QPR zero commitment or fight just as they were away to you earlier in the season. If the players actually turn up with fight next week shouldn’t be too difficult a game as you are just a bang average midtable championship club with an inflated position because of your awesome start in the first 6 games.
I didn’t say QPR didn’t play a weakened side. I am making the point that we were. Our second string is incredibly young and inexperienced and aren’t anywhere close to being fielded as a starting 11 in the league, so to put our reserve side as a barometer to mark results against your first team is bizarre.
You cannot selectively choose runs of form and isolate them as to how you want us to be described. If you are to look at form in a way it has relevance then recent form is more telling, of which we have picked up 10 points from a possible 15 in our last matches

Your starting eleven included a 30 year old Goalkeeper, Declan John who has played at prem and international level, Roberts who is a full international, a 26 year old Bidwell with over 250 league appreances.
Your midfield included a 32 year old Nathan Dyer, 27 year old Carroll and 3 25 year olds Fulton, Peterson and McKay. Even your striker was 23 so hardly a youngster. Not to mention you brought on Baston and Celina.

You must presume QPR made a fair few changes like all other championship clubs so how many players were left out like Swansea, and going on their policy of youngsters maybe they fielded a side a bit younger than the Swansea players you've mentioned Steve?

Yes, he is the only regular starter in that side, as I said.
Your midfield included a 32 year old Nathan Dyer, 27 year old Carroll and 3 25 year olds Fulton, Peterson and McKay.

Corrections and important information highlighted above in red. I also see you fail to mention Brandon Cooper making his first professional start at center back along with a center back partner who is a right back. A defence that has never once played together before, some not even in that position before - is inexperienced.
The midfield was experienced but ultimately a reserve midfield.
The striker was inexperienced.
So as I said, young, inexperienced and ultimately - reserves. Unless of course you would also like to answer the question of how many of those starters would you expect to start at the CCS?

Young AND inexperienced, most fall into one or the other. Inexperienced doesn’t have to mean never played the game before.
Inexperienced playing in a certain position, inexperienced playing together, inexperienced playing for the club.

Yes you certainly are. You can’t take one of those descriptive words, ignore the rest and pretend I didn’t say it![]()
You are just going to have to deal with the fact it was a reserve side and that comparisons to your result are obsolete. That’s all there is to it no matter how much you kick and scream, make pedantic points or selectively cut my quotes
I also find it funny you have been seemingly debating this for days where as I have logged in for maybe an hour today and I am the one that spends all day on here. Try again
