Can't see us paying that
That is what people dont realise. They think loans are free. You still have big loan fees wages and agent fees to pay.
A 30k a week wage will be around £1.5million a year
Plus loan fee to club £1mill plus
Agent fees
The average loan for a season would cost around £3mill per player

Where have you pulled that figure from? If it cost that much to loan a player you wouldn't see as many prem players in the championship and leagues 1 and 2.

i can imagine people like Arter and Camarasa did cost that sort of money , possibly more.
but its certainly cant be taken as an average , as you say some pretty decent players have previously been loaned out to clubs that would never afford that sort of cash..
i certainly don't see us bringing in a 3 million pound loan player..

I guarantee those players had promotion bonuses and wage rises but they don’t necessarily without a new negotiation the year you are promoted have a relegation reduction clause, it’s hard to know exactly what our players are earning given we were promoted and relegated within one season
For example a 10k increase on one players wages is 520k a year...
We may have offloaded zohore and Reid potentially this summer but there’s no guarantee to how these deals are structured either they could be only part payment now spread over a few seasons or appearances etc
I would still expect our year end results to show a loss for last season just the same as last promotion and the parachute payments Will cover increased wages and expenses the next two seasons with maybe a few small additions
Some people live in cloud cuckoo land when it comes to figures and forget this club was still running at a loss during most championship seasons prior to promotion

I do not doubt that they did come with big fees and wages. But there are players who are loaned out with the receiving club only paying a % of the players wages. All depends on the quality/circumstances of the player. Yea I agree, given that Harris has said we are looking at loans and free transfers it is probably safe to assume we will not be loaning anyone who will come with big fees/wages. Hopefully we do see a loan or two coming in as the squad needs strengthening in certain positions. The league is so tight this year - a win could see us go 6th or a loss down to 13th. A decent signing or 2 could mean the difference to finishing mid table or top 6.

Not cloud cuckoo land but a reasonable estimate based on what the club has to publish in its accounts. I agree we were running at a loss in previous years but we should be turning a healthy profit now. The promotion bonuses were included in the previous years accounts, so if we lost money the year we came back down then whoever is in charge of the finances needs sacking. With 100 million from the tv rights, an average gate of 30,000+ and increased sponsorship income, turnover must have been close to 140 million, so we should have made a reasonable profit.smakerzthebluebird wrote:I fail to see how people think that the parachute payments are available to sign players they are built to pay for the increased wages and transfer deals that occurred when joining the premier league
