So he is not scoring because he is a little rusty. But when we signed him he was not at all rusty and his finishing was still rubbish. He obviously can score goals as he did for a poor Bolton side but for some reason he can't score for us and hasn't for three seasons.

In all fairness, I’m not sure he played for us at all last season. But you are right, he wasn’t very good good when he first joined, but under a new manager that might change.

Never has been and never will be a proven goalscorer at Championship level.

Has not even come close to scoring for us in any game he's played.

Can't believe those saying he was excellent yesterday because from what I saw he was absolute shite but we all see the game differently.

Have to agree , we have seen enough to know he will not be a success with us. There is no pace, no aggression and lacks that killer instinct goal scores need. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

He’s not going to score if his own fans are singing the stupid ‘if he scores’ chant.

Good linkup at Charlton and at Wigan opening day, but scoring goals requires confidence and he’s hardly going to get it with his own fans taking the piss out of him

Madine has 21 championship goals in 141 games thats 7 a season, he is never the answer (Wiki so may be inaccurate)

Eoin Doyle is whacking them in at L2 level but looked completely out his depth at championship level in his prime. There's no shame he just isn't good enough either.

Bogle is the same.

Frighteningly Danny Wards 39 championship goals in 200 games is only slightly better :o

Christ that is some pressure on Glatzel our great hope in a more footballing team

None of our strikers have looked good due to tactics

Hopfully we play more attacking football

Madine had more of the ball saturday then most of our strikers have seen all season

Let's see what tuesday offers !!

Well said, some fans want the penny and the biscuit,if we do play a more attacking game, our strikers could come good (maybe not bogle, but who knows?),lots of work to do,but let's hope fans allow for teething problems :thumbright: . :old: :bluebird:

We criticise Paterson for Saturday's performance. However he should have had a penalty in the first half and got one in the second half. That's what I want from a striker. Madine did not have any major incidents in the game.

Great assist from him for the goal tonight, I thought he played well tbf to him

A good performance from Madine tonight. The ball stuck with him, he linked up with Tomlin well, he set up the goal and was very unlucky not to score himself. I was surprised he got subbed so early, but I suppose he's being nursed back gently to full fitness. More performances like tonight and I think Madine could still have a future with us.

Well said, Ross

Thinking much the same and he (Madine) had a great ovation and a "Do the ayatollah, Gary...!" from the City faithful on the way off. That in itself speaks volumes for his performances of the last two games

Cannot see enough qualities to keep hold of Madine, below average player. I would say however he had his best game last night. I cannot see him improving much on last night's performance however.

A bit of perspective here.

He's a striker.

We paid £6m for him apparently :o

He's undoubtedly on a fair contract.

He has scored no goals for us.

He has three "assists" (last night and against Ipswich and Sheff United in our promotion season).

People are now taking comfort in him having a "decent" performance now and then.

In what way can he be described as anything other than a massively expensive flop?

perspective..
he was signed by our previous manager in the full knowledge he was not prolific.
signed by wilder in the full knowledge he is not prolific and had not scored for us
.
our current manager plus a couple of others also attempted to sign him in the full knowledge etc etc.
and our current manager is now playing him in the full knowledge ..etc etc etc.
clearly a lot of decent managers see something in his all round game... its about the team scoring and the team winning mate.

He’s not a prolific goal scorer but his hold up play is up with the best in this league.

The ball was sticking to him last night.

He’s like Emile Heskey won’t score you loads of goals but other around him will.

I wouldn't say he played badly against Stoke, but anyone notice how he struggled to time his jump when going to head the ball?
