Warnock wanted the better players in age groups to be pushed up an age group to stretch them...its normal and happens everywhere...I think its happening there now.
Craig wanted to keep them in the correct age group and win the league...

I have seen a lot of players move up an age group and go backwards and lose confidence as at a younger age the psychical aspect is more apparent Also until you are in the u18 /u16 there are no league tables at all
Barcelona don’t believe in pushing players up age groups as they want to develope confidence I believe even Messi was not pushed up an age group until he was 16 and that was to the first team

yes that's when you revert and put them back down...and it is the under 18s we were talking about with Bellamy ?
messi was playing in the seniors when at that age..

The academy is not just the u18s thou Messi was never raised an age group until he made the first team at 16 You see players in our academy moved from u14 to 16s on a regular basis and they go backwards At U18s you should be concentrating on tactical awareness Hopefully by U18s the players have great technical ability

not all go backwards each boy is different....its a process of finding things out isn't it...at under 18s you should be knocking on the door mate..

Agree they should be knocking on the door Some should be doing this by 17 Like Ramsey /Ledley / Matthews

Montodo would i
Of come through if he wasnt poached by man city ,coxe would of come through earlier if managers would give him a chance , ralls has come through tho ,swansea just like we did with ralls bought dan james and didn't bring him from young

ralls did not come through our academy...and coxe is the opinion of posters.
you obviously did read what i said he was bought at 16 just like Swansea did with james

Dan James spent for 3/4 years there before making his debut mate. Ralls made his 1st team debut 3/4 months after signing

The academy and our grass roots in South Wales is so important to me, for both Cardiff and Wales. I maybe in the minority here, but for me it’s so high on my wish list that we have a decent representation of Welsh players in our match day squad. We haven’t in a long time. Surely it’s the academy’s failing that’s not helping that.

However, as much as I didn’t like Warnocks football, and am keen to see Bellamy a Cardiff manager, I agree with Warnock that the talent isn’t good enough in the academy. Which, obviously puts the academy under scrutiny, but also, doesn’t that sadly mean (Roberts and Rodon aside)that the talent to go to the next level just hasn’t been there in South Wales to begin with?

I used to think that the higher level our clubs played the more it would benefit the national team..i was wrong..
it does not effect the amount of talent within the area at all.

Warnock did involve Mark Harris in the 1st team towards the end of his 1st season. But he's another youngest who when went out on loan a few times and not really made an impact in the lower leagues.
Problem is are academy isn't producing good enough players

All the decent talent goes down the road, they have a much better setup by all accounts, born out by the story last week of that kid from Llandaff - breaking through into their 1st team. So either the Jacks have a better scouting network or they have better training methods, which manages to bring kids through - or perhaps both.

if that is the case then that shows that the coaching methods to develop those players is better ?

I don’t think it’s got anything to do with our managers. We just aren’t producing anybody good enough.

The whole academy needs a massive overhaul.
