Seems like Harris has provided the next key excuse. Why are your attendances only 17,000 when you claim to be massive... “protests innit, staying away due to the manager” :laughing6:

happens everywhere...the fella that's sat next to me at internationals was a 10 yr ST holder at Swansea...not this season, not putting one penny in the Americans pockets...Man Utd fans starting a new club and wearing Norwich scarves....West Ham fans annoyed they are not a champions league club as promised..

It cracks me up, it really does.

The modern day football fan. They're not going because they don't want to go. They find excuses not to go. They blame everybody and anybody. It's the poor wives that suffer.

You don’t find many of those at Swansea. Those who don’t want to go anymore aren’t shy in saying so. We are under no illusion we have some fair weather fans that latch onto success, they seem fairly comfortable in that skin too.

On this forum however there has to be some grand gesture or excuse as to why the club isn’t as massive as it claims. Whether it’s protests, rebrand, manager - you name it, as soon as numbers fall back to reality then there is some excuse as to why thousands upon thousands are staying away. It’s very amusing.

Spot on. Why people make excuses for it I will never know.

I loved that narrative perpetuated widely on here about losing loads of fans due to the rebrand. Yet they came when we were winning in red then stopped coming when we started losing in red.

It was funny as.

I really don't care if its 3k or 33k..in many respects the 3k games were more enjoyable...
you should have avoided your 1st sentence though.. its a dead giveaway you don't know any Swansea fans..

How original

Then we will agree to disagree. Attendances matter to your club and your fans more than any other I know. That’s because you have a safety bubble you have created around how you believe you are perceived. Anyone who adds a dose of reality to that is banished as to keep the false narrative alive.

It’s the owner & chairman showing a lack of ambition and if they want to “play it safe” by appointing a glass half empty manager that nobody wanted, then they can settle for less fans and money.

They’ve made their bed they can sleep in it sort of thing. I’ll keep going to the games as I have a season ticket, and I will support Harris as everyone who turns up will. I just respect those who won’t turn up, there’s no point.

imagine trying to encourage a boycott over a manager who hasnt had one single game in charge.

if you feel this way then you should stop turning up, the team doesnt need 'supporters' like this

I feel the same as you. The bloke has not even had one game in charge yet. How come some people know that he is doomed to failure before he even gets started. I suppose there are plenty of experts on here who have done ok with football manager on their playstations or whatever. He may turn out to be one of the best we have had. Nobody knows until he has been given a fair chance, and by that, I don't mean three games.

Cardiff have plenty of floating fair weather fans who only turn up when we are doing well, for big games etc. So does every club. Which is why we averaged 32k+ last season, probably average around 23k this season and if our season continues like it is now that will probably drop to anywhere between 18-20k for next season. When we were doing well (in red) our attendances were boosted by those fair weather fans. I know quite a few fans who had been going down the city for years and stopped going because of the rebrand. Quite a few have not been back down since. Had we stayed in blue I bet our attendances would have been higher the season we got promoted. The floating fans would have returned and the rebrand wouldn't have kept some fans away. I am not sure why that is so hard to grasp by some people on here.

After we got relegated and the performances were shit under OGS, Slade and Trollope the fair weather fans disappeared, as expected, and many fans who stopped going because of the rebrand still hadn't returned. That is why our attendances were the lowest they had been since moving to the CCS. The rebrand divided and almost destroyed our fan base. I can't see how you think it didn't have a negative affect on our attendances in the long run.
