Would not surprise me if it’s Neil out of work currently cheap Option I just hope it’s a short term deal until end of season with an option to extend it he does well rather than 2 and half year deal and us struggling under him potentially

Harris has better credentials than Malky Mackay when he came into Cardiff. Could turn out to be inspired...

Doesn’t his time in HMP Slade go against him...

I would prefer Chris Hughton but I certainly wouldn't have a problem with Harris.

You have to look at what is available or who would actually be tempted.

People talk about Pulis but that would be almost replacing like with like albeit with a proven track record at Prem level and he's normally had a pretty hefty budget to do that with. I suppose the advantage is that his style would probably suite a lot of the players we already have.

Harris would be a gamble but at least he's managed at Championship level unlike Flyn and a number of others who've been mentioned. At some point you do have to take a gamble on people.

So, for me, Hughton is relatively successful at this, and the next, level and the safest bet.

Totally agree. Hughton surely has to be first choice. It would be very strange if he’s overlooked

PLEASE not Harris. I'd take Bowyer over him all day. :old:

Re: " NEIL HARRIS "

Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:26 am

Sorry but this shows a lack of ambition from the club and that they are just happy to bumble along mid table in the championship.

If this is the best we can do might as well give it to Blackwell and Bamba.

Re: " NEIL HARRIS "

Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:26 am

because the club are focused on only 2 managers now, sadly not flinn but i would have Neil Harris in than the other bloke they are looking at.

Re: " NEIL HARRIS "

Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:31 am

One thing for sure, if we persist with hoofball, crowds will be heading to 10k.

Tan and Dahlman need to think very carefully about this, but their track record is second to everybody’s..

Re: " NEIL HARRIS "

Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:36 am

Who would have thought that our club would go for the cheap option, Neil Harris out of work failed Millwall manager and would cost us nothing.

Sorry this shows a total lack of ambition, Tan must be putting us up for sale and is bored with us.

Hughton would want money to spend on the squad and challenge for promotion. Harris will do as he's told by the board and be happy for us to bumble a long mid table in the championship.

Looking at things from a neutral point of view, you would expect the club to go for someone with a fair amount of managerial experience, preferably plenty of it at Championship level, someone who knows how to get a club promoted out of this division even with a limited budget available, and someone who is popular with fans and players alike. Oddly enough, one name jumps straight out at you. ;)

The old NW would have brushed off any chatter Steve..
Maybe it was just his time..

Harris is not a 'failed' Millwall manager. They were League 1 when he came in and he took them back up and kept them there for two seasons with a limited budget.

Yes, I always thought he would go when he was ready to go, and nobody can really question his credentials. His CV is pretty impressive. If I was in his shoes, I would put my feet up and maybe write another book. He must have plenty more stories to tell, and to be fair, he is an entertaining character even for those who don't like him.

Did they sack him this season?
Limited budget, what's that tell you about they way this club is heading? Bring him in with the view of having a 3 window transfer ban and just hope he can keep us up.

70 years old and having to prove to people whose trust you already should have..?
nah mate....I think youd be gone too.. ?
he had to pick form up 20% AND re win over a vocal { on SM } chunk of support .
im more gutted at the meltdown than him actually leaving ..

He wasn't sacked as far as I have read, he resigned as he felt they needed a new man after 4 years, not too dissimilar to the way Warnock has left.

Working on a limited budget also suggests good skills in the transfer market, which we need as we begin to reshape the squad.

Re: " NEIL HARRIS "

Tue Nov 12, 2019 11:54 am

Forget the budget if we class ourselves as a big club we need to spend best manager best players available. I feel now is the time to throw away the shackles, and if we fail well some said they preferred it in league one. Let’s give it a go you never know.

Re: " NEIL HARRIS "

Tue Nov 12, 2019 11:55 am

Reasonably happy with this.
Our squad is full of players who were assembled to play a particular style so it would make sense to bring in a similar manager with different ideas.
You can suggest all your "Football Playing" managers all you want, but no one is gonna turn Morrison into Beckenbauer between now and Christmas, so this is what we have.

Whoever is appointed should have our full support despite our own individual amazing football opinion. The last thing we need now is to boo him off the pitch from the first game. Even if it's Bellamy!!

Easiest thing in the world to spend someone else's money. Unfortunately, we know what Tan's plans are unless he has changed his mind, and throwing loads more cash at the club is not really part of his plans.

Tan will be criticised by some whatever he does.

Thankfully it seems like he has our best interests in mind lately.

will be gutted when this is confirmed so many better candidates out there who have proven track records. obvious that warnock has picked his replacement and that's why he stepped down because harris was available. I'd rather have warnock until the end of the season. theres no way dalman and Ken choo have picked him out or tan

well I don't know his plans Steve. he seems to change it depending on which way the wind blows . wants 35 shots per game { I know dalman was probably exaggerating a bit } neil harris and Flynn don't exactly jump out at you if that's your plan ?
feels a bit like when we broke the bank getting OGS, he leaves, everyone is excited and throwing names around but we get a fella at last chance saloon at Orient given the job of cost cutting..

But why Harris? What’s he done? Managerial achievements? If decent would either still be at Millwall or be snapped up by someone else. Not good enough for them but good enough for us, like some of Warnocks signings! Attack minded? Understands welshness and our city ? May as well grow a pair and take a shot with Bellamy who is all those things.

Re: " NEIL HARRIS "

Surely if its a choice between Harris or Bowyer, it has to be bowyer.
Picked up some bargain players who are now playing at a higher level.
Off field problems of which there are many, he managed to produce a promotion winning team.
Used to working with a chairman as mad as a box of frogs :-)

But what are Bellamy's managerial achievements? Shouldn't you learn your trade a bit before managing at this level? OGS seemed like a half decent prospect, but most fans here were glad to see the back of him. I doubt if Bellamy's man management skills are any better, and I can see him getting a lot of players backs up. I admire his charitable work, but I think he needs to learn his trade before he takes on a job like this.

isn't it going to be difficult to employ him without opening a gigantic can of worms.?
the bullying report will be looked at much harder by the press eager for a new story.. the parents will kick off and the club do not need it... Bellamy needs to have 2 years no incidents and produce at least 1 player...
