They should absolutely be allowed to sit where they want to watch a game. It is the dickheads who attack them who should be kicked out and banned not 2 people quietly using a present.

Its pathetic and anyone who thinks differently need to grow up. Football is not only for loud men who want to sing shout and swear, it's also for children and in this case couples who want to enjoy a day out.

I never said get rid of segregation, I said its pathetic that a person with no interest in causing or being in trouble cant gonand watch a football game because some dickhead cant behave or control there beer. Maybe a normal fan but normal footy fans know not to go into opponents area with team colours on! My friend went to city /Chelsea ninian stand and he had no trouble hes a Chelsea fan !! And your interpretation of wba fans is not right as no trouble with them was there ? Stewards well within rights to remove him as not to potentially have trouble....

Interesting reading all the above comments. There is no way I would wear colours if I had a ticket in the home end. Only once been in the home end when I managed to get a ticket for the clock end at Highbury for an FA Cup replay when working in London.

However I've recently come back from a trip to Bilbao where I had a ticket for the Athletic Bilbao - Alvaes game. Given that the two clubs are are about 40 miles apart I would have expected some rivalry. I was surprised that as well as a full away end which could have only held a couple of thousand there were a few Alaves supporters in club colours dotted around the home stands, although none in with the Ultras obviously.

Not sure if this is typical in Spain as this was my first La Liga game.

PS Wore my City top to the game as well and people could not have been friendlier despite my limited Spanish and their limited English. I hope we would be as welcoming if a supporter from an overseas club was to come to one of our home games.

I went in the home end at West Brom the day we had Bolton away in the FA Cup and it was called off. Albion were playing Blackburn who had Nathan Blake playing for them.
There were 9 of us in there and all was ok until one of our lot chanted ' Blakey, do the ayatollah' and unfurled a Welsh flag with CCFC on it.
All you could hear was hundreds of seats clanking as the locals went for us.
Stewards and police moved in and marched us around the pitch past Frankie Burrows who told us to f**k off!! He was Albions assistant manager.
We were then stuck in a corner with about 150 other City fans and had Blackburn on one side and Albion on the other. I think it was 3-4 or 4-4, and each goal was met with absolute chaos in our end.
Its the only time I've been threatened by 2 sets of fans at the same game.

Same day but at Villa, we were at Frankly Services when the call came through that the game was off so a coach load went to watch Villa/Darlington, all was fine before the gamebut during the game about 100 of us ended up getting surrounded by stewards and police by the tunnel shouting for Mark Delaney to do the Ayatolah, was a bit surreal, 5,000 Darlington fans in the away end, villa fans everywhere else and us lot with a ring of steel around us.

The guy is nothing more than a publicity seeker, firstly he knew very well the score before wearing colours in the away end and secondly he seeks further attention by publicising his story along with a selfie. Best to ignore the prat, if he had a slap he would have got someone banned and probable jail time. Fed up with tossers like this who provoke a situation by crossing the line but squeal when it don't go their way.

I am probably one of the few who have sympathy. I agree it wasn't the brightest thing to do, but has anyone considered that he may not go to away games - yes these people exist- and was just being very naïve and ignorant of the protocol. It seems clear that as his wife was a Baggies fan this was a misunderstanding and the situation could have been handled much better by the stewards. Or have we all got so used to being treated like shit at away games that we accept it as a normal way to treat two fans who have probably spent over £100 for a day out.

I think they handled it pretty well. He was asked to leave and escorted out. It could have been worse, he could have been physically removed from the stadium with force. Putting them in a different home area would impose the same crowd risks and they couldnt have stuck him in the away end as we sold our allocation and I don't think they want it becoming a regular occurrence. It is not much of deterrent that away fans sitting in the home end will just be put in the away end. It says on the ticket that tickets for home areas of the ground are for home fans only and he said himself that wearing his cardiff shirt was not ideal and had the potential to be inflammatory. So not only did he break the rules he did it knowing that wearing his city shirt was a bad idea and could potentially cause trouble. He doesn't deserve any sympathy and he only has himself to blame.

Only trouble is the. Mentality by police ect in this country is anti football fans which nobody can deny! Only got to see number of police at game Saturday why? So if they deem us a risk having a city fan in home area certainly wasnt going to last regardless of it being a couple...
If memory serves me right it as been done before of fans mixing dont believe any trouble but think it was with same city fans so hard to police anyway.

You shouldn't be sat in the home end if you are an away fan full stop. There is an away section for a reason. I personally hate it when away fans do that. I wouldnt give them any trouble but I dont agree with it at all.

How far does it go. Once its accepted you will end up with groups of away fans in the home sections and it will affect the atmosphere. Anyone wearing opposition colours or cheering the away team should be removed straight away!
