A great save from Alex Smithies keeps the tie level. Mpanzu takes a heavy touch in the box after a Luton breakaway and it falls to McManaman, but before he can shoot Smithies is out like a flash to smother the opportunity.

Josh Murphy will be forgiven for thinking this is not his day. Another lovely dribble sees him square up and unleash a thunderous strike from 25 yards. It looks destined to find the net before deflecting off Bradley over the bar. He’s done everything but put the ball in the back of the net thus far.

George Moncur whips in a dangerous ball but McManaman can only steer it over the bar.

That’s the end of the first half, Cardiff with the better of the chances but ultimately the scores are level.

Decent first half. Murphy excellent, Glatzel is a handful, Whyte has a lot to learn. Not a first team starter clearly. We lack a creative mid-fielder to pick up the right pass. Missed this opportunity in the window massively. Bring Hoillet and Vassell on at some point I hope.
