Really ?
Three league one players
One league two player
And aiden Flint

So far I'm not filled with confidence, I expected a higher calibre of player If I'm honest. Hopefully that is about to change

wow!!!!!!!!!! you really need to get behind the team and new players without writing them off before a ball is kicked, this is probably the best squad I have ever seen playing for City at this level in over 50 years

I wouldn’t waste your time on him mate, usual pessimistic garbage from this troll? He’s no city fan. Like u said Corky one of the best squads we’ve had in years, when you take into consideration our budget, absolutely smashing business by NW and the board.

I think I am entitled to my opinion about our signings, I am not overwhelmed by them, doesn't mean i am right, they could be fantastic or they could flop.it also doesn't mean you are right. If you have utter confidence that buying 3 league 2 players is the way to get out of the championship then good luck to you. I dont. We will soon see who is right and who is wrong.

Our budget should be a lot more than we have spent. We have massive parachute payments and have sold £11MILL of players last week

Did you know championship clubs lose upto £15m a season unless run prudently? Whilst your right about your opinion to assume we have many millions free to spend on players is wrong especially as tan is slowly reducing debt still....:old:

Thomas I don't think your a troll but you have come across as quite negative lately. This division is littered with clubs that have spent loads of cash without anything to show. Most championship strikers cost a fortune and your doing well if they return 12 goals in a season.I think the gaffer has pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat with this guy.Never mind your acorns I've watched all the utube and among all his obvious assets his first touch is something I've not seen down the city in a long time.5.5m is an absolute bargin and to be honest I would be just as exited if we had secured his services for 10m and by definition perhaps so would you. If 8m gets Zohore then this kid will be worth 20 by xmas. And that Irish kid looks a handful too.

Perhaps fans need to cast their mind back to ollie and his spend , spend ,philosophy.
How many times were we under a transfer embargo because of FFP
We have budgeted for the short and long term as we will need a new manager unfortunately next season and the new manager will also need a budget.

I probably have been slightly negative but I just think signing all these lower league players is a gamble.
Let's be honest only 1 of them is guaranteed to start on saturday the others we probably will not see for months maybe years.

Joe day will not play over Smithies or Etheridge

Curtis Nelson will not play over Bamba, Morrison or Flint

Gavin Whyte will not start before Hoilett, Murphy or Mendez. He will also be fighting with Patterson reid and Ward for a wide forward position.

Will Vaulks is going to be 50/50 wether he gets picked over Bacuna and Ralls so he may not play as Warnock seems to love those two.

The only guaranteed starter is Flint and he could easily lose his place once Bamba returns.

I dont think we have strengthened the team at all, the squad yes but not the starting 11 and that's why I'm a bit negative at the moment. Hopefully that changes this week.

The striker could be good and hopefully he is if he signs. I have no problem with his signing even if it is a slight gamble as we need a striker

Who are these three league two players we've signed?

Calling the German guy a lower league player is laughable. Star player for a team in the second tier of the countries football league, narrowly missing out on promotion.. you do realise we are also in the second tier of our league right ?

We all know Flint will start, Vaulks will start and finally Gratzel will start (not this week because he wont have trained, but going forward he will start). We have added Murphy and Reid to our team from our promotion season. We also now have good players in our rotation which is just as important.

For me Warnock has filled the gaps in our starting lineup and filled the supporting squad as well for a net spend of about 2-3m. That's incredible for me.

Oh dear. Done it now.

We said the same about the squad OGS put together in the championship.

That wasn't a terrible squad, just a mishmash of players and a terrible manager with no idea, no doubt ManU will realise and he will probably be sacked by Christmas if not the end of the year!

He did just buy players with no thought of how he would set them up and how they would get on with each other and paid overinflated wages for them all leaving a squad with cliques, this carefully planned squad does not compare in any way!

Your right, you are entitled to your opinion, no matter how negative it may seem to everyone else.
That's what forums are for. I am well happy with what we are doing in the market though.
Regardless of how much money we've made from sales of players, doesn't mean we have to spend it All on new players, just to replace them with better will do for me.
We still have have historic debt to think about also.
That's my opinion :bluebird:

We certainly have strengthened the team, and you’ve shown that we’ve added great quality in depth. You must remember that we’ve got a 46 game season, so numbers are paramount in all positions. You also seem to forget that our previous season in the championship we signed a certain Mendez Laing and Etheridge from lower leagues, and how did that turn out?

None of us have really seen Gavin Whyte play yet to say whether he could be starting over any of our 3 current wingers. Nelson is really a brilliant acquisition because we only have 3 fit CB after the loss of Bruno and addition of Flint. As I said previously you need squad depth, not necessarily just a brilliant 11 because you’ll really struggle in this league. Although we now have a very good first 11, and great depth if we have injuries. Our squad is probably better now than it has ever been since I’ve been following the club.

Out of interest, what did you want/ expect?

We have signed a striker who has recently scored hat tricks against bayern Munich and Middlesbrough, a centre mid who scored and assisted plenty last season in the championship and is an international, the captain of a league one side and a young talented international winger...

It's crazy to me that anyone would complain where we buy our players from after the last two seasons. Mendez laing, with all due respect, was a nobody who had done very little in league 1. Neil Etheridge was the keeper at a league 2 side. For me they have been by far our best players over theast 2 seasons. That's before I even start talking about Hoilett, Bamba and Paterson.

We have not signed a striker, there is rumours about a second tier German player that is all.

You cannot keep picking players from lower league and hope they step up sometimes you have to go with experience.alyhough I like the signing of White the others I doubt we will even see on the pitch

Another thread another set of cringey posts from thomasblue for somebody who goes to so many games you never seem to have a clue about football.

You're also forgetting that we've added Reid and Murphy to the sqaud. Thats was about 40 goals from the last time these 2 played in the championship.

Mendez has kicked on again from having a year in the prem as well.

There's no point signing players for sake of spending big money. Warnock has built a quality sqaud and we've now got ample cover in most positions.

The only place is probs CM & RB spots left to fill

How do you know that german striker is good enough ? You have never even heard his name before

You have no guarantees that any of the 3 league 2 players can make the step up, most dont like Oien Doyle a few seasons back.

The only players we have signed that have proven they can play at this level are Flint and to a degree Vaulks

My football knowledge is fine thanks, maybe you should take the blinkers off and look at these signings for what they are.

We will see who turns out to be right by about christmas and we will revisit this thread

So explain how we have strengthened the team when only one of our new signings is guaranteed or even likely to play ?
It's about the first 11 not just a squad and our first 11 is a hell of a lot weaker than last season and even the season before I'm my opinion. We needed first team players who can go straight into the first 11 not just squad fillers

How do you know only one likely to play when we havent finished getting players in? And what if NW changes way we play? The players brought in would suit a different more attacking style of play so making squad team better than previous championship one (in my opinion) there is cause for optimism now several players e arrived/arriving :old:

Because we now have 2 quality players to fill each position apart from CM (and CB until Sol is fit.) So our team is a lot stronger now, if you go back to our promotion season the only big losses to the squad are Gunnars and Bruno. We have replaced Bruno with Flint who is an established championship CB, so we’ve got that covered. And with Gunnars we’ve replaced him with Vaulks, whilst I don’t think he’s as good as Gunnars, he’s good enough to do what’s needed. Our wingers are now stronger than our promotion season, and so is the number 10 position. And at LB we’ve arguably got 2 of the best in the league.

My ultimate point is that the squad has very good depth now and all seem to be of decent quality. Our starting 11 will be judged at the end of the window, but for me it’s stronger now than our previous season in the championship. Of course it’s not going to be as strong as last year, and I can’t really understand why you think it would be. A squad wins you games not first 11’s too.

A very good point :occasion5: This how a football club should be run and NW is absolutely brilliant!

Just imagine if we had Gary Monk as our manager where spending cash on players was motivated more by what is best for him and his agent rather than than what was best for the football club?

Just ask Birmingham, Middlesbrough and Leeds where that gets you!

Cheers up victor meldrew
