Most people these days carry card, young people pay with contactless on the phone

Credit cards
Debit cards
Apple pay/NFC Payments
Go henry cards
Prepay cash cards

All can be accepted.

Changing to cashless tills isn't wrong it's progress, telling everyone a week before it happens gives people notice and is responsible.

It would only be wrong if no one knew before Saturday.

And to answer the comment why do it all at once and not gradually?
Last season all tills run both cash and card. The club would've analysed the information as what percentages paid cash compared to card and decided on this action.

I applaud the club for moving with the times like most other good modern progressive clubs.

Ok we shall soon see how quieter it goes and how it hurts our young fan base .

Watch for cash areas re-opening, so NO I don’t applaud the club on this daft decision alienating some of our fan base.
So I won’t keep up with the pathetic decision, all over fb youngsters are moaning already.

What about our 14-16 year old followers , we have thousands, cash only.

The kids can make their mobile phones sing and dance so no problem changing to cashless I tend to think.I don’t go to mainstream Cinemas now because of slurping and munching.Chapter in Canton is no food and you can enjoy what you went for , the film.

I Cant see that changing a payment method will drive away fans in their thousands - especially 14-16 years olds who are more likely to use their phones for payments -

Most parents these days will set up account for cards and phone purchases. If you also include the additional security such as Face ID and/or finger print technology its a lot safer than cash.

Positive move for the club in my view.

NO Cash Sales at Cardiff City Stadium

CARDIFF CITY FC

Thursday 25th July 2019

Starting from Saturday’s match with OGC Nice, all bars and food kiosks at Cardiff City Stadium will now be cashless.

Payments will be taken by debit/credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

This is for increased speed and convenience - so you can further enjoy the matchday experience.

I can understand why the club has made this decision because it is becoming the "Norm" to use contactless cards these days, however I'm with Annis as I think the club should have talked to fans representatives, Trust or Supporters Club etc, before imposing this on the entire fanbase.

For the vast majority of fans this won't really be a problem but as Annis says "What about our Under 16 " fans? Does anyone really think they ALL have access to a debit card, and as for pre-payment cards forcing kids, or their parents to get them one, puts a further cost on the matchday bill. These cards will almost certainly have transaction fees attached to them which will make the high cost of food and drinks in the stadium even higher.

Ithink the club needs to find a way of selling tokens or a pre-paid stadium card to alleviate any issue for or younger fans, and to do so urgently.

Most prepay cards are free to have and to use some do charge if use cash machine but not on over counter transactions! Yes bit pain to organise but if got several kids can use just the one card and once got one can be used in other places where cash is not used also safer than cash as if lose it just replace it. :old:

I’m not being funny but what exactly are all these 14-16 year olds buying?

Overpriced cheese burgers or overpriced sweeties or over priced pop.

I don’t see thousands of kids buying stuff inside the stadium anyway I do see hundreds buying stuff at kfc and McDonald’s before and after.

I would disagree Pembroke as most pre-paid, if not ALL, have a cost associated with them in one form or another. It could be application fees, monthly fees, renewal fees, transaction fees, inactivity fees even redemption fees.

For the majority of fans this won't be a problem unless or course the telephone lines fail, or the banks IT systems fail and lets face it that happens, I wonder how frustrating that would be on a matchday.

You should have even more money to put in them now you can't spent it in the ground

Plenty of ideas above to make this workable but the club need to embrace it and give some other options I think.

Re: ' My Opinion / Not a good idea by CCFC '

City have lost my custom for the forthcoming season as I don't own a card and have no intention of getting one. Their loss as during the season I spend quite a lot in the ground, very bad business move by the club.

I am afraid that it is a sign of the times we are in now.

Some merits and some bad points.

What worries me, personally is the fact that it is sooo sooo easy to "tap your card" as a lot of people, especially young people tend to not think it is real money - At least if you hand over paper money you can sort of keep an eye on how much you are spending.

The Wolves idea is good, that they keep 1 till on each counter as cash sales for a while.

I am afraid we will be in a completely cashless society in a few years or even less !

Got any stashed money - get it in a bank now or spend it. :o

You make a good point about how easy it is to tap.

Although Im the other way around, if I have cash I find to spend it just because I have it on me and generally spend it on things I don't need.

It’s probably due to the spiralling costs of literally transporting and depositing cash into a bank, via companies like loomis.

https://www.loomis.co.uk/

There are other outlets within the concourse who will probably uosell in respect of this issue.
