Don't get it. Calum Paterson had a go up front and scored 10, assisted 5. If you're good enough, you'll score goals. No excuses for Ken.

I don’t disagree with you just thought he had the potential Calum is technically one of the worst players I have seen but love his effort and goals scored Football is such a strange game

Final point. He’s not even gone yet, And in fact this is no different to Liverpool wanting Etheridge when Warnock said no bids had been made. Totally disagree. How many times has Warnock himself said Ken hasn't been trying and needed a kick up the arse? The guy has had half a good season for us which ended 2 years ago. We've been waiting ever since for him to finally come good. It just isn't happening with us.

Ken wouldn't be going unless Warnock was fine with it, so if he goes and for the reported £8m, it's fantastic business for a player we signed for £360k and has a record of 24 goals in 101 appearances. He does bring something to the table, but £8m for a player who simply opens up space sometimes is a huge fee, for a player who's job is supposed to be scoring goals.

I think you forget we stuck a right back up top in the promotion season and he banged in 10 goals and got 5 assists in the process while Ken wasn't bothering in training again.

But that’s not true? Warnock has never once said Zohore wasn’t pulling his weight or training well.
This is the thing that annoys me with fans is that they reword everything.

Warnocks criticism with Zohore was he wasn’t ‘aggressive’ or ‘angry’ enough, he said he was disappointed that someone to big and strong doesn’t have an aggressive side to him. That’s not somebody not training well, that’s just somebody who doesn’t naturally play the way Warnock typically likes from his target men, I.E a bit dirty, pulling shirt, roughing up the Cb’s. Zohore wasn’t brought up with that sort of Championship or even “English” style of football, so it’s understandable why he struggled to adopt it.

Don’t get it twisted with him ‘not being assed’ because that’s never been the case.

Personally I think it would be a huge mistake, for me Zohore has proven he can lead for a promotion team at this level. 8m seems a good price but I have little doubt it will turn out to be great business for WBA in the current market.

Do I trust Warnock to get better for 8m? or even more if added to his budget, im really not sure. Warnock has said about his poor record of signing strikers last summer.
Medine 6m
Reid 12m
Ward 1.5m
Bogle 750k

White I appreciate Reid as a good player, in no way does he fit in our system as a striker and if that is Warnocks plan I can see us having to revert back to Patterson at some point which would be a disaster.

Personally I think we should have kept Zohore and brought in another striker as competition. If we really needed money which I didn’t think we did I would try and offload Etheridge way before Zohore. If Warnock can get better then over him to him and great news but im sceptical to say the least.

How many games did Patterson have compared to Ken in city's last season' in championship? But Ken needs a move to get back on track watch him do well at WBA

Quick google search gets me 2 actual Warnock quotes criticizing Ken's laziness.

"He’s been a little bit lazy since I’ve been at the club but, at half-time the other night, he showed what he could do," said Warnock after the home defeat to Barnsley in his debut campaign.

https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... f-15522570

"He’s got to do better in training every day. He’s got to get the hunger back that he’s had.

"There’s only one person who can do that. We can only do so much.

"It’s like the saying of taking a horse to water. "He’s in the running [for Burnley]," he continued. "He’s in the 18, but he’s got to do more in training."

You should have asked Deep Blue apparently Zohore is brilliant, he must go to every training session and see him in action because he seems to know more than you :laughing6:

No idea of his wage but i'm sure he has done more than a lot of our players some of who picked up a wage and done nothing. I think he lead the line brilliantly in our promotion campaign to justify a good wage.

Obviously all our strikers struggled in the premiership due to how we played but I seen enough in glimpse to think he would have a brilliant link up with Reid in the championship.

If Warnock can get better then great news, but we will see.

Warnock has obviously lost patience with him, I am pretty sure that the fact he has let him go means he has got something better (for us) up his sleeve and will bring in at least one probably two good Strikers.

He got his fingers burnt last season he won't make the same mistake again I'm sure, I see this as very positive new's he is going to shake things up a bit upfront which is what we need!

Well the evidence over the last 3 seasons hasn't been good. Danny Ward, Gary Madine, Omar Bogle, Oumar Niasse all strikers brought in by Warnock and none of them are better than him imo. I agree with the club selling Zohore for 8m but throughout Warnock's career as a manager he's never been able to produce/sign a good striker or get them scoring goals in his system (He admits that himself in his autobiography)

You're conveniently leaving out the fact he converted a right back to a number 10/Striker who's scored more than Zohore since he joined. And Bobby Reid, Josh Murphy scored more than Ken

Yes the fact that we had to convert Paterson to a striker temporarily i may add says a lot about Warnock's ability to sign good strikers or get the system to work for them. Reid is a number 10 not a 9 at Cardiff and he never worked as a 9 here under Warnock and Josh Murphy is a winger not a striker.

I mean it's all figurative. If someone has never played striker before, but is then plumped up front and scores 10, I'd say that makes him a striker now. Warnock signed him and developed him and played him in his system and he flourished with 10 goals and 5 assists, so credit goes to Warnock for that one...surely?

We don't need to sign someone who's figuratively classed as a striker to be able to play them up front.

"There’s only one person who can do that. We can only do so much.

"It’s like the saying of taking a horse to water. "He’s in the running [for Burnley]," he continued. "He’s in the 18, but he’s got to do more in training."

Game, set and match mate.
I remember reading the criticism of him by Warnock as well. It’s says a lot when the manager had to come out publicly to say these things and try to motivate him and when a converted right back was constantly picked before him.

At least we have Madine to rely on :sad7: because 8m wont get us a better striker than Zahore these days.

Don't get it. Calum Paterson had a go up front and scored 10, assisted 5. If you're good enough, you'll score goals. No excuses for Ken.

We'll just see how he does under a manager who believes in him and plays to his strengths.

Warnock didn't believe in him you're saying? Ken would've been shipped off back to Belgium or released from his contract if it wasn't for Warnock. Quotes here: https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/foo ... s-12625480

Ken has since made 100 apps and I've posted links above to Warnock quotes saying the club have done all they can for Ken but he's not trying hard enough. Ken may well score a few for West Brom, but in reality he isn't scoring for us and hasn't done since 2017, so who cares?

Spot on

No idea of his wage but i'm sure he has done more than a lot of our players some of who picked up a wage and done nothing. I think he lead the line brilliantly in our promotion campaign to justify a good wage.

Obviously all our strikers struggled in the premiership due to how we played but I seen enough in glimpse to think he would have a brilliant link up with Reid in the championship.

If Warnock can get better then great news, but we will see.

Estimated £16.5k p/wk

nothing then if thats true

One of the higher earning players. But compare that to the fact that Matt Connolly is likely still on £20k p/wk and it doesn't seem too bad.

Yeah, 16k a week on a player who would (if staying at least) be in the squad is ok.

Overall our wages are a lot better than previous years, and the higher earners like tomlin, madine? manga probably wont be here next season.

Neil finally gives in after watching his performance in san antonia i am not suprised abysmal.

I've a few reservations about this.

1. I am concerned that we are selling him to a team who will certainly be a major rival for promotion next season.
2. The formation against Man United with Ken, Bobby Reid, Mendez and Murphy showed sufficient potential for me to have liked to see how it worked in the Championship.
3. Much as I love Warnock I honestly do not think that he will replace Ken with anyone better whether he spends big money or not. His record in signing strikers is piss poor and it's the one area of the team that he really struggles with.

I would not be surprised if no starting striker came in and we went with Paterson with Madine and a cheap option as back up.

We'll see.

I think it's pretty clear Patterson was a desperate attempt because he recruited poorly over last summer upfront. I think anyone who watched games could see he isn't and never will be a striker, yes he got goals but overall the team suffered, it a as awful and embarrassing at times.

Then you have to ask the question if Patterson was this ultimate striker you seem to think he is why didn't he stick with him.

I get some people don't rate Zohore and I can understand most people's logic but unless desperate again Patterson should never be seen upfront again.

I doubt Zohore is on 16k a week otherwise surely one of the lower earners in the first 11

They're up there. Manga 30k, not sure on Madine. Bobby Reid & Alex Smithies on 30k too. Joint highest earners with Manga.
