He's clearly not the annoying type we see at bigger clubs that appeals close calls.

seriously ?

Absolutely, how can you support him not appealing as the last man? I did not see anything to suggest the goal should be ruled out from him. He accepted the decision. Makes it an easy decision

you imply he is not at a bigger club as he does not appeal enough was why I said ...seriously..

Top clubs will stay clear with concerns around his positioning and awareness...It's concerning that he actually thinks it's a legitimate goal is it not?

So you just decided to pick on one of our best players who had a very good game and post an opinion that he is not good enough for a top team, as if the rest of the team is. You are entitled to an opinion, nomatter how misguided it is, but it's just a random negative thing to do based on such a ridiculous pretext.

I've watched Manga for a long time and always thought we were a stepping stone club for him to move a bigger one. A mutually beneficial agreement would be made. I changed my mind and think he's staying with us for the foreseeable

you go to games ?

I've read some weird conversations on this board but this takes the biscuit

So Manga isn't good enough at claiming for offside so despite the fact he kept Higuine, Giroud, Arnautovich and Hernandez quite in the last two games so he can't play at a higher level :banghead:  I am absolutely weak with laughter

On that basis Chris Smalling would be the best defender in Europe, he is well known for putting his hand up first and defending later !!

The other defender you hardly ever see claiming is Virgil Van Dyke, on that basis our centre back pairing will be Manga and him next season ................ can't wait

Manga is showing what most of us knew from the start of this season, he is the best centre back we have and we look much more secure with him there.

Nobodies questioning Manga's worth and he doesn't really think that ability is dependant on the extent to which a player appeals. But it costs nothing to appeal, no ability required, no sweat lost and in a cast iron case like this, no credability lost to boot.

What do you think Alex Fergusson would have said to his all conquering defense if they'd let such a blatent offside goal go against them without contesting it. Do you think Manga was right not to appeal ? If so, are we taking the appealing out of the game altogether. There's surely been no more worthy case of appealing this season.

Its not just about Manga, Etheridge had a pretty good view and a number of others must have had a pretty reasonable but perpendicular view of the incident. Manga however was the offside line and he must have been fully aware.

The original poster said Manga "Did not appeal the offside goal, I'm not saying it makes him a bad player, but perhaps why he plays at the right level" and I gave a couple of examples where appealing and not appealing clearly have no impact on the ability of a player to play at a certain level.

If you'd rather have Smalling over VVD because he's better at appealing then go for it

The comment is nonsense. It's down to personality not ability, you're either a Lineker (never booked) or a Bellamy, both great players, both played at the highest level.

Manga was out of position and usually a player would appeal.

But like many have said... it is irrelevant - The ref would've still given the goal, appeal or not.

Its not a criticism of Bruno's ability but there's no question in my mind he should have appealed. In fact the appeal should have been in 2 phases. His hand should have been up before the ball hit the net and who knows that may well of influenced an undecided linesman. Nowadays that wouldn't have been a late flag, its what happens anyway, he was only offside when he headed it.

Having had the decision go against us he should played merry hell in the certain knowledge that we'd suffered a complete injustice. I accept it was very unlikely to influence the referee at that stage but whats the alternative, we roll over and get turned over.

So you think Bruno shouldn't have appealed for that offside ?
