I think happy is the wrong word..
but ive watched Cardiff for over 40 years, seen us lose more than win , some of those defeats have been gutting, Stoke , Sheff Weds ,Blackpool spring to mind . others have not been so bad Arseanal 2 weeks ago I was quite pleased with the performance having half expecting us to be hammered. the conversations in the ground and on the way home were mostly up beat . so one more loss in the circumstances given wouldn't be the end of the world.
as for get a life ,well I have one thanks and I certainly wouldn't be happy walking out the ground having just won a game that in effect gives Swansea a league title. a defeat that would not cost us { I assume the OP means a situ like Evertons } would fade away, us handing them a title really wouldn't.

I would expect their fans to feel likewise

I’m talking about in the context of our current situation. We’re currently in a relegation scrap with the next game being a “6 pointer” where if we lose is going to put us in a very precarious position. In THAT context I stand by what I said if people still would rather lose against Southampton just so Swansea don’t win the league then yes I think some of you need to get a life. If we’re talking as if we’re a different club altogether though and we’re in a mid table situation where the game doesn’t matter then I CAN see where you’re coming from however I still think it’s bizzare that some of you would want Cardiff to lose a game of football in any circumstance.

you know it was a hypothetical situation. its in the OP.
Swansea are not in this division this season so why would this be about the Southampton game ?

Here's the scenario

If swansea beat Preston they get promoted to the 1st division and Preston get relegated with City staying up on goal difference at Preston's expense.

That is what happened in season 1980-81.

So a bittersweet result at Deepdale when swansea won to get promoted and thereby helping to save City's skin.

ps. City did a game in hand v West Ham so needed a point to survive [which they duly got] but if Preston had won or drawn v swansea then City would have gone down and swansea would have lost out. The jammy gits went up on goal difference over Blackburn.
