Will Warnock get the transfers he wants?

By Dominic Booth

Wednesday 30th January 2019

Perhaps it comes as little surprise that Cardiff won't find a 'replacement' for Sala in the remaining days of the January transfer window.

The club had worked so hard to secure his signature for a record £15million and Warnock admitted he would struggle to find anyone better. Brazilian Wesley Moraes, who plays for Club Brugge, was a target, among others, but in likelihood it's not going to happen.

The Arsenal game did at least suggest Cardiff's current crop of strikers can cause problems, though it also highlighted how threadbare the squad is in other areas.

Warnock would desperately like a right-back, someone who can play in a back five or back four, with Paterson's skills better used going forward than back.

Midfield cover is also an essential in the next day or two. Victor Camarasa's absence meant Cardiff had no other options in the middle of the park, even if Joe Ralls enjoyed arguably his best performance of the season.

These transfers could make or break the Bluebirds' season, prove the difference between staying up and going down.

Why on earth are we letting a bit of stupid story creating journalism mislead us so easily .

They took the remark out of context. All he said was he " didn't think we'd get another striker in the window " , and they converted that into " Warnock Vows not to replace Sala"

He didn't connect the two things at all , and he may or may not have been frank in what he did say. Firstly he's not going to jepordise any deals which he's trying to complete by public announcements, ( remember he more or less denied interest in Emiliano and Niasse till it was done), and secondly it's probably true that getting something done from square one for that position at this point is probably unlikely in the time, but I'm sure that doesn't mean they won't be trying.

Sir Neil is no diplomat and if he'd meant that he didn't want another striker, that's what he would have said. It surprises me that people don't recognise it when someone says something which gives an impression but leaves them plenty of wriggle room.
( Maybe that's a good tip for people watching what politicians are saying about Brexit,by the way )

Personally I believe we can survive with what we've got , admittedly we lucked out last night but considering the past events it was a gallant performance, at home I think we can end the season with plenty of points enough to keep us up , let's not throw the towel in just yet eh lads ,let's sing our bloody hearts out for Sala ,Cardiff and Warnock , it's time for us to go above and beyond, even if we go down so feckin what , I'll be there next season and the season after that ,, believe.

zohore hasn't been at the races this season.

ward, although i like him as a player, doesnt trouble defences at this level.

reid has potential but is a player most defences in this league like to play against.

we need another striker. if warnock hasn't got a backup list, then that's poor preparation. there are plenty of players better than what we have, but it would cost.

maybe having a proper right back will improve the outlook, but this isn't going to be enough to stay up in my view. there just isn't enough genuine quality in the squad.

Keep playing Niasse and Reid, let them forge a partnership. Best shot I think..

I think Warnock is loweonf expectations knowing how hard it is to bring in a striker. If he can he will.
