I'm willing to bet that Warnock's groupies will say that now we can concentrate on staying up and of course they would be right to say that but come on we should be beating teams like Gillingham, what is apparent to me is we don't have enough in depth quality, we desperately need a quality striker,Patterson for all his endeavours is not a natural goalscorer, personally I would look to bring in a second striker, also we desperately need a quality centre back as Morrison is not Premiership quality, looking overall at our team I think we need to bring in more than 3 signings, and finally Warnock has to accept the buck stops with him and take
full responsibility for his team win or lose

He may be awful but why wasn't Madine given a chance today, surely Warnock must publicly admit he spent and wasted a large amount of money last season, i do not agree that we would have missed promotion without him

Really odd to watch a match where we dominate possession hard to remember one even from last season. A few things emerge on the good side Mendez- Laing played well and should be playing for the first team if only as a sub. On the bad side Patterson is starting to show his limitations up front and we desperately need a decent striker as a matter of urgency.Thought both Reid and Ward were pretty useless too.Thought Morrisson should be ashamed of himself sitting on the floor whining for a foul which wasn't coming when he might have defended the goal.

I vowed a few seasons back never to go to an FA or League cup game again as we treat both with contempt these days and any old rubbish like Gillingham,Shrewsbuy,Maccesfield etc just brush us aside. To be fair to Warnock he fielded what looked like a strong side but their hearts weren't in it for most of them as they are far to good to be playing Gillingham. Plaudits to maybe Mendez-Laing and Damour who at least gave it a go.

As a fan you want to win games like this especially as the premier league is a hard battle. You have to earn results and today we should be doing a lot better that .
It's not going to define our season but it's a shock isn't it that brings more pressure on us which we didn't need .
Got to get over it and move on

Ive seen some good excuses over the last few months on social media forums and facebook but the new ones after todays result are classics

"I didn't want to go to Wembley anyway" ( baffling )

"Its only a cup game" (wins breed confidence)

"Lets concentrate on the league" (yep with the same team today more or less)

The above cuts no ice with me. The team out today which was the 1st team bar the GK rest have been playing games this season. id get it if it was kids & bench boys throughout the team today but it wasn't. A first team with already low morale got beat vs a team 1 point above division 1 relegation zone and they had injurys galore  This result wont help for the hudderfield game. its an embarrassing result end of the day no matter how you butter it up

A lot of drivel being spoken here. An ok performance but we massively lacked in the box. Could’ve been 4 or 5 on a different day. Gillingham were solid but showed nothing going forwards and were lucky with the goal (foul plus poor keeping).

In the whole scheme of things, as much as I love being in the hat when teams are drawn for the next round, it’s no big deal. A bit of a non-event which has seemingly given plenty of drama queens an excuse to come out

Easy enough to work out why teams from the PL get beat by lower league sides. £135k for winners of this 3rd round of ties, and I think even if you end up winning the competition, you get around £3.5m for the final. West Brom earned over £100m for finishing bottom of the PL. Probably explains why club owners do not prioritise these cup competitions. Like so many other things, it's all about the money.

Agree...and why some of the negativos on here need to wise up to the fact that the club are not being blasé about this transfer window and are trying to give the manager the players he needs to complete the task that many said couldn't happen and most thought wouldn't :thumbright:

There were seven changes to the side that faced Gillingham compared to the team that faced Spurs. Just take a look at the team sheets of the PL sides and Championship sides that were put out on the weekend, and it becomes obvious where their priorities are.It is not my opinion that clubs no longer treat the FA Cup in the way they once did. It is a fact, why else is it used as a run out for fringe players and youngsters. I enjoyed this competition, and it is a shame that is no longer the tournament it once was. Unfortunately, it is all about the money, and our club's focus is firmly about PL survival. You may have noticed plenty of other so called bigger clubs were beaten by the little ones over the weekend. Club owners look at football in a completely different way to us fans, it is business and money for them and their main interest will be what the audited accounts show come the end of the year.
