I have a few mates who support Derby County so I wrote to them regarding their thoughts on Tom Huddelstone. One of them replied saying that a Radio Derby Reporter had the following to say:

“Huddelstone looks the perfect player to fit into the holding position in Lampards preferred system of 4 3 3. He requires someone who is good on the ball to receive it from the defence and turn over the play to the exciting young attack. Lampard has been vocal in his admiration for Huddlestone, but fitness has been an issue.

The introduction of George Evans from Reading indicates there may be either some movement with Huddlestone or a worry injury wise, at the very least Derby are planning for life without Tom Huddelstone”.

Medel was miles better than him, and probably still is.........

Like the person above, i too remember wishing we`d signed him instead of Medel the last time we got promoted and i`m sure we were linked then too.

As did I, would have fitted into that system and think it was half the price of medel. But that was 4-5 years ago and now he wouldn't fit how we play at all imo and isn't the same player.

Another reply from a friend that supports Derby County at every single match, both home and away:

“Tom huddelstone, if the rumours are correct that hes signing for Cardiff 2/3 million, I wouldn't be upset that he left the club. He’s got 1 year left on his contract at the club with an option of another. He's 31 so cash in on him, we only brought him for 2 mill so any thing over that is a bonus. Last season he played holding and central midfielder. He can have good range of passing, but we didn't see much of it last season. He might have more space in the prem tho. If Cardiff have a weak midfield, he could be a good player in the prem.

If we keep Tom then I think he will be a fringe player because Frank likes people to press the ball when DCFC haven’t got the ball. I don't think he has the legs to do that. Frank and Mel (Mel Morries) want a youthful team”.

If we could get him super fit and lose his pukka pie belly, he's got undoubted talent and could be our ace up the sleeve.

Derby have just bought Martyn Waghorn from Ipswich for £5 million rising to £7.5 million. I don't think they are awash with cash so my have to recoup some of it. Also they have a load of midfielders in their squad so losing one might not be such a big blow.

The Sun claim Tom Huddlestone is the latest potential midfield option for Neil Warnock, having missed out on Marko Grujic and Alfred N’Diaye.

Middlesbrough are also reportedly monitoring the situation, although Derby boss Frank Lampard is believed to be unwilling to lose the midfielder.

Who was it that said he was having a medical when he was pictured in an Asda car park in Cardiff at the beginning of Summer? Long medical if this comes off

Me mate

Did you say he was having a medical? Thought someone replied to the thread? BS might actually come off ha
