Fulham need strengthening badly. At the moment they have only 18 first team players signed. They have the quality, yes but are short of numbers.

Quality over numbers any day and besides an ambitious club like Fulham will always add quality to their squad

I don't think its reading anything in to this game just saying how it is. The midfield is not good enough at the moment, end of. We need 2 new midfielders and a striker. I hope I'm wrong but I worry about KZ. However, Neil being Neil I think he will 4 more by the 9th August.

MIDFIELD THIS STRIKER THAT...
we dont have the quality or the money full stop..thats everybody in the countrys opinion...
we are well and truelly up against it and the sooner our fans grasp that we are the South Wales Boarderers and not the Zulus the better.

and for those that havent seen the film, the South Wales Boarderers survived against all odds.

Some are starting the seasons histrionics early I see. Christ as others have said pre season means nothing other than training and fitness.

Pre season or not, I totally agree with his comments on needing something different up front. If we think that KZ is going to be enough then we're deluded, the Premiership is a totally different animal with world class players all over the park week in week out.

people read way too much in to these pre season friendlies.

I've watched 2 and it's clear to see not one of the players are pushing themselves like they would in a competitive match.

Morrison is the best example in all these games he's hardly sprinted and there is no way he's going to go flying in to block an attempt or tackle risking injury 2 weeks before we start a season in the premiership.

Just stating an opinion lads and yes its negative but if we add some quality i will feel a lot more positive about us staying up. I love our style and work rate but its frustrating because if we added a bit of quality we would be a good outfit and stay up then. Come on neil work your magic

Perfectly entitled to your opinion but don't shout down those who disagree.

Many many football fans the world over see what pre season is....just take a look at some if the results for the top 4 pre season......however rather than accept another viewpoint you said we're deluded.

think its more than just losing a pre-season friendly, clock is ticking down and at the moment we've barely strengthened in the 2 positions that many thought needed strengthening (striker and RB) and our central midfield is actually weaker than it was against reading last game of the season due to the grujic saga, got full faith in warnock to get it sorted before Bournemouth but easy to see why there are some nerves (myself included) and doubt on the forum at the moment

Take look around you some clubs barely signing anyone ! Judging y people's reaction if we don't sign high class premiership player we may as well all stay at home? :old:

bluemun wrote:We absolutely need a quality midfielder and striker. Look at the way Wolves and Fulham are strengthening by signing internationals. I notice we started with a back five for the first time. It never seems to work with us. We aren't used to it and it doesn't suit our fullbacks or centrebacks. Let's get back to our best defence, with Bamba/ Morrison as the pairing.

I like the back 5 system but it’s not the thing you can swap and change through the season. If we are going to play like that then we need to train and adapt it for full time use. I don’t think we wil but I think we do have the players for it.

With regards to the OP I do agree to a certain extent. We definitely need some quality as what we have is not good enough IMO. If our squad is not added to with a few quality players I think it will be such a shame as we have a great basis here with young, hungry players. I think the club are working on this.
However, with my long experience of playing, coaching and watching, I can categorically say that results in friendly games means jack shit.

the clubs not signing anyone are ones who survived last season in the prem with the squads at their disposal, the 2 clubs alongside us who really needed to strengthen (wolves and fulham) are doing so

like i said still got faith we will be bringing people in, and if we don't there's no point being negative and will obviously be backing the 11 that warnock puts out, but definite nerves kicking in on my part :laughing6:

I don’t read anything into pre season games however I do t think at this time City have brought in enough quality to survive in the Premiership. A few weeks back after our initial signings I thought that we would finish about 16th but having seen other bottom half teams strengthen significantly my concerns have increased.

We have signed 4 Championship players for 24m. We certainly need that bit of sparkle like we had with the signing of Gary Medel last time for us to have a chance of staying up. Unfortunately team spirit alone cannot keep you up. We desperately need creativity in midfield (Arslan) a strong defensive midfielder (someone similar to Diame or Arter) if Grujic isn’t signed, a striker preferably with pace (like Mousa at Leicester/Hernandez) and we are weak at right back.

There are still a couple of weeks left in the window & I’m sure NW has something in the pipeline. I would be disappointed if we don’t give this season a good go & to do that we need to invest in a bit more quality. If we need to spend another 20m I think it a worthwhile investment and it would give us a far better chance of staying up. Go down & it could be a long time before we see top flight football again. Huddersfield spent 43.5m last summer whilst Brighton & Newcastle were just a fraction behind. All 3 stayed up.

If you look at the teams likely to be bottom half teams most have spent a fair bit in strengthening e.g. Huddersfield, Wolves, Brighton, Watford, Fulham whilst West Ham have gone into a different league. Newcastle, Burnley & Palace seem to be the only teams that have not been busy but it looks Newcastle have signed 1 today and another in the next couple of days. Palace have also got bids in.
