So he is the sole reason we went up  for that goal, I can't even start to debate it  what about the fact he failed to close down Grealish v Villa cost us the game? This is tit for tat tho, watching the games it was clear he was lost at championship level.

How do you know if he hadn't played Grujic or another wouldn't have got 2

Lots of lower championship players had their clubs player of the season does that mean they are premiership level?

And you guess he is good on the dressing room based on nothing.

failed to close down Grealish ...true, he was in our penalty area defending a free kick { he really needs to stop taking any notice of these training ground scenarios and instructions } but was the only Cardiff player to get remotely close to blocking the voilley as Grealish lined up the clearance.

Maybe he can make some good money in another country but in a far less quality league, which I think would be the better option because he’s nowhere near Premier League standard in my opinion.

Exactly.

This rumour has seemed to turn to fact when the most that was said was perhaps he needs a new challenge.

On its own This would suggest he would not be re-signing WHEREVER we were in the leagues.

Why do you want people eating humble pie? Because they've got a different view on a players abilities to you? Bit ridiculous that mate we've all got different views on players.

It's not a rumour Warnock said in an Interview well documented that gunnarsson wouldn't stay if we were championship.

"Warnock said: “We've spoken numerous times and I've been asking him since pre-season to commit – but he feels he doesn't want to play in the Championship next year. I can understand that and I don't blame him.

“I can understand his point of view. He's at an age now where he's been in the Championship for 10 years. When you've been in the Championship for that long, it's bloody hard work."

I'm torn on this one and can see both sides of the debate. Warnock obviously still highly rates him and I suspect if he signs NW would find room for him as a starter in the team.

If I had to sway one way I'd probably prefer he didn't sign, mainly due to his recent big injuries which I suspect will take a huge toll.

Whatever he decides I'll support him, either thank him and wish him well or hope that his fitness is not an issue and he performs brilliantly for us in th PL. I just hope that if he does sign his wages aren't silly as another long injury spell would be money down the drain.

Re: WHERE CITY STAND ON GUNNARSSON CONTRACT

1. I never said the only reason we went up was because of that goal. I was making the argument that to say he hasn't influenced our season is bull.

2. Gunner has never come out publicly and said he doesn't want to sign a contract. Check your quote it was made by Warnock from a conversation with him. You could argue that a conversation between manager and player should have remained private anyway.

3. The guy is 29 so this is his last long term contract at his prime. If he thinks he's good enough to play at a higher level than the championship, then this is his own right to risk being unemployed to try to get to his aspirations. Manga did the same last year and then didn't get the offers he probably wanted so decided to stay with us in the championship.

4. What part of my argument have I made up?

5. Humble pie..... I feel not all but a lot of comments about Gunner are more down to a personal dislike rather than football reasons. Everyone has opinipns but in my opinion I'd love him to stay and prove these people wrong. He's given us 7 years of comitment and he's served our club well. Ye I know he's been paid well etc. But how many players stay with a club for that length of time, and let's be honest there have been some shocking managers before Warnock came in and he could have easily handed transfer requests in etc.

6. I see peoples arguments that they feel we could get better than him out there. That's true for every member of our squad. The only problem is how much do you have to spend to get better?!? If you believe Warnocks previous statement we've pretty much spent our transfer kitty. For me to get better than Gunner you would need to be spending 7-8Mill. Other way is a loan signing on a youngster etc. Only problem with that it's a big gamble!! Even if Gunner does stay we need another top midfielder to play along side him and Ralls and then you can take a gamble on a loan like grujic!!

I'm sure Warnock knows what he's doing

He STILL didn't say he would only consider staying if we went up. According to Warnock he did not want to play in the Championship.

Two ver different statements and does not mean he would only play for us IF we went up.

Worcester was suggesting there was a disrespect for the club when in fact he wanted a challenge other than the Championship.

The new challenge was not reliant on us going up. Our promotion has just muddied the water with Gunnarson having it to think about.

My original opinion was that he would go abroad but he now may not get a better deal than what we are offering.

Re: WHERE CITY STAND ON GUNNARSSON CONTRACT

We need to stop all this premier league class stuff. Since we were there last the money has been obscene and if you are wanted by a premier league club you end up there. Ask Brizzle and Norwich fans.

None of our players we have had during or since our last visit were premier league class. Premier league money took punts on Mutch, Caulker and later Marshall. Anyone could have taken a punt on a just peaked Whitts or a at his physical prime Gunnarson but never. And lets be honest you are buying Gunnarson for his physicality not his technical ability.

Loved the guys attitude and is a great organiser, he'll probably be a good coach/manager but we'll be chasing shadows most of the games and that needs legs and his have gone.

A bit like yesterday in the world cup, an end of an era. The Whitts v Gunnar debates probably made up 20% of the traffic on this site over the last 8 years

I was thinking a o year deal like Holiett may be a compromise but that may not help Gunnars future contracts as he'll be another year older.

Did Wez not say Gunnar sold his house in Brynna last year, did he buy in South Wales after that ?

I agree but you also need to accept that in the 3 out of 4 games played where Gunners returned from injury he was absolutely shite in 3 of them, so yes 3 points gained but more importantly 9 points dropped after he replaced Gruric.

'There's a much more direct influence on our season for you!! which could have cost us dearly'

Re: WHERE CITY STAND ON GUNNARSSON CONTRACT

We need midfielders. Get him signed Warnock! Then let’s have Ryan Woods and Grujic. Now that’s a midfield.

For the record, Gunnar is a bloody great player. We don’t have anyone else in that marshalling CDM role. He’s a leader with loads of big game experience. Makes sense to keep him on (if he fancies it). Looking likely it’ll be a Ralls/Grujic/Reid (in the no 10 at the top of the 3, so Gunnar a valuable addition and sub/tactical starter. Less games in prem, not quite as physical as champ. Hope he stays and he’ll be a good addition. Replacing him will cost ££££. Or more loans I suspect.

I didn't know he had different instructions, obviously you have contacts within the team so I'll admit defeat on that one.

He did follow grealish for the rest of the game, I'd assume he would stay with him.

Let’s get one thing straight, Gunnarsson has been a very good servant for our club Cardiff City and I do like him but Mr Cardiff City he certainly is NOT and that’s what I was referring to but you can change what I said to suit your own agenda. I personally wouldn’t want him to renew his contract with us because I don’t think he’ll cut it in the Prem but that is my opinion and I have a right to my opinion. I have never slagged off Gunnarsson in a personal attack, I merely stated that I don’t think he would cut it in the Prem therefore don’t want him to sign. Now if you’re looking for a Mr Cardiff City then that accolade would go to the one and only Peter Whittingham
