Swans on top
Swansea have started extra time really well, and substitute Causso Darame is causing plenty of problems.

Swansea win a free-kick, it’s whipped in by Kees De Boer, but it goes all the way out for a goal kick.

Cramp

A lot of players suffering from cramp out there.

Cameron Coxe goes down and needs a stretch to ease his pain.

It’s very open now, but Swansea are looking the likelier of the two sides to nick a winner.

8 minutes left for someone to find a winner, or it'll be penalties...

Nervy
Neither side wants to make a mistake that’ll cost their side.

Mark Harris tries to spark things into life with a nifty little run, but he’s caught in the face and then needs treatment.

Swansea City U19s 1-1 Cardiff City U19s (AET): Swans claim dramatic shootout victory to retain FAW Youth Cup

Swansea City's Under-19s claimed a dramatic 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Cardiff City's Under-19s at the Liberty Stadium to win the FAW Youth Cup for the ninth season in a row.

Defender Joe Lewis headed Swansea in-front in the 22nd minute, but Wales Under-21 international Mark Harris' bullet header on the half hour mark made it 1-1, with neither side being able to find a winner in regular time.

And Steven Benda made the decisive save to deny Isaak Davies from the spot in the shootout as Swansea emerged victorious on penalties in a dramatic South Wales derby.

Swansea's young guns dominated possession early on, and they were denied an 18th minute goal as George Ratcliffe pulled off a fine one-handed stop to turn away Kieran Evans' strike from the edge of the area.

But their dominance was soon rewarded as Kees De Boer whipped in a teasing cross from the left, and centre-back Lewis nodded home to give Swansea the lead.

Frustration crept into the Bluebirds' ranks, with Connor Davies and James Waite both being booked shortly before the half hour mark.

But Craig Bellamy's side hit back in devastating fashion as Harris' bullet header flew beyond Benda to make it a level game on 30 minutes.

And the young Bluebirds came close to taking the lead shortly before half time after neat play from Laurence Wootton and Waite, but the latter's cross was headed straight at Swansea goalkeeper Benda by Sion Spence.

Liam Cullen stung the palms of Ratcliffe after the restart while Connor Davies was denied by Benda who expertly parried away the Cardiff midfielder's powerful strike just after the hour mark.

Substitute Causso Darame looked to snatch a late winner for Swansea after jinking his way through the Cardiff defence on the left, but he was unable to fire at goal to give his side the lead meaning the match went to extra-time.

Cardiff substitute Isaak Davies went agonisingly close to giving his side the lead in the first half of injury time while Darame found the back of the net for the Swans, only for his effort to be ruled out for a foul.

And with neither side able to claim a winner, the final went to a penalty shootout.

But it was the Swans who held heir nerve from the spot to claim a 3-2 win on penalty kicks to retain the trophy once again.
