PROMOTION POINTS NEEDED - 6 WINS A MUST :

Following are the points earned by 2nd placed teams in the last 10 seasons : (16-17) 93 Brighton (15-16) 89 Middles (14-15) 89 Watford (13-14) 93 Burnley (12-13) 79 Hull (11-12) 88 Southam (10-11) 84 Norwich (09-10) 91 WBA (08-09) 83 Birming (07-08) 76 Stoke What it shows is that there are no hard establised conclusions. A spread of 79 to 93 is very big. As it stands because the competition between us , Villa & Fulham is so keen it is unlikely that the upper figure (93) will be needed. Of course Derby may yet have a run and Wolves may get a wobble. It is still a tad too early to predict. I believe 90 points should do it. 6 wins 2 draws & 3 losses would probably be enough.

That’s really interesting to see those numbers, I agree that 90 points will do it. It would be great to see what the third team had each year, because that woukd be a better measure of what the team in second had to beat.

33 points to play for and I can see us dropping 10 from our remaining games against Sheff U, Wolves, Aston Villa and Derby.

So that 93 points we could end up with.

My main fear is Fulham as I think Wolves are too far ahead for us to catch them and Villa have a few difficult games to come. I can't see Fulham hitting the 90 mark so in a way we can drop a couple more points.

I think that's a bit of a stretch. Derby and Norwich away and Wolves at home will be immensely difficult and one or even all three could be defeats. We have to win our home games against Brum, Burton, Forest and Reading and a win at Hull is a more realistic prospect. If we achieve these results we will be on 85 and draws at Derby, Villa and Sheffield United could do it. We could afford a couple of defeats to Wolves and Brentford along the way. And for Brentford you could read Sheffield United and for Wolves you could read Derby. I think it vital we don't let Villa beat us.

Derby are on a blip so think we can do them and Norwich who are immensely poor this season, I have a feeling we will pile some misery on Wolves too.
