Basically, he doesn't want to invest substantially in the club and, if we don't get promotion, he will make real efforts to sell.
I'll be amazed if we sign someone like Grabban and why the he'll didn't we get Bodin, who had a great game for Preston last night.
I don't know what he's thinking. You are right. I want Tan Sri Vincent Tan to spend money as it makes sense. The players won't be ad motivated ad they are right now under Warnock long term. Good post
Not sure why anyone would expect Tan to be splashing the cash. He made it crystal clear a while back that he would return us to blue, but there would be no more big investment in the club, and that his target is to make the club run within it's means. We still have huge debts, have already had experience of being under restrictions because of the FFP rules, and most were happy to accept his conditions if we returned to our traditional colours. He appears to be a man of his word, so we should not really be too surprised knowing there is not a lot of money to spend.
and yet people are quoting 5m for an average striker.

That's the cost nowadays Paul. We as fans have to pressure the club into making big signings otherwise what's the alternative?

I know that's what people are quoting, I wonder who has told them that as the transfer has'nt even been confirmed yet. People were also quoting that we were on the verge of signing Grabban. Speculation and facts are entirely different.

agree, but if the generally accepted figure flying around is between 5-6m, i think its unlikely that we will be signing him for 500k
also warnock confirmed a 3m bid for forshaw, so theres money there.

Too many figures flying around for me. £3m quoted on here being offered for Grabban. No proof that we were even talking to him, Howe has said he was'nt aware of anything. Same as every other transfer window, plenty of speculation and not much more. I remember the last January transfer window when we were supposedly linked with umpteen players. It was all unfounded rumours, and we will probably find out that whoever we sign has signed for an undisclosed fee.

Gary Madine is heading to Cardiff City to complete a move
GARY Madine is on his way to Cardiff City to complete a deal which could be worth £6million, The Bolton News understands.
Wanderers’ top scorer has been offered a lucrative move to South Wales and will take a medical this afternoon before completing the formalities, making him the third most expensive sale in the club’s history.
Madine has hit 10 goals for Phil Parkinson’s side in the Championship this season, and also finished joint top scorer in League One last term.
Cardiff had been unsuccessful with four previous bids for the 27-year-old target man, with Wanderers holding firm on their reported £6m valuation.
But this morning it appears Neil Warnock’s side finally hit the magic number, paving the way for Madine to make his move on deadline day.
Parkinson now faces a frantic search to find a replacement and has been strongly linked with Feyenoord’s 6ft 5ins Dutch striker Michiel Kramer.
Wanderers’ previous record sales were Nicolas Anelka (£15m) and Gary Cahill (£7m), both to Chelsea, in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
