The half season tickets kicked in today.

Just checked and you are indeed correct. Any idea the total number of season tickets we've sold now with the half season tickets?

No idea mate.
Although I’d love to see bigger crowds, it doesn’t bother me like some people who fixate and seem to be obsessed with it.

If the stadium was sold out every week it would be brilliant but I agree it seems to be more of and issue on here than it should be. Our current crowds are sitting 6th highest of the last 45 years. That is including our premier league season, the season after and the 5 years of Risdale price freeze. I've seen people saying we should be getting 30k today, why? There's nothing to suggest such crowds and I think the amount we are getting is good enough as it is. Although the crowds might not have increased as much, the number of fans turning up seems much higher than last season. The stadium certainly feels fuller than last season

If your both not interested in the crowds, why are you always involved in these topics?

Cardiff North who is a new poster, but ip matches up to an old name Hmmmm Are always on these topics

It's not that I'm not interested, like you Annis I do like seeing crowd statistics and I do agree that bigger crowds would be great but there is nothing to suggest we should be getting such crowds. As to the IP you are correct. If I do recall my last account was banned due to commenting on the "Proud Jack" account which many posters have questioned about. The reason I made a new account is because I enjoy debating and agreeing/disagreeing with posters on this forum. Much preferred to the ccmb board so I hope you understand my position for creating a new account.

You were banned downing a Jack? ? ?

I much prefer a good debate :thumbright: :thumbright:

But just because I stand by that our crowds are like 15th best in the Championship, yet We have been Top 3 for 5 months, sarcastic comments are said.

Today was Boxing Day and Our worst home crowd for many years and yes it worries me and to be fair it worries our club.

All season City have been throwing tickets out at Cheap prices, yet the people won't turn up? I could understand if we were bottom, but we have been fantastic on the pitch.

I love crowds/stats and it hurts when our are so low and every club in the land now takes the piss out of them.

If we fall down to say 6th,they should still stay about the 19,600 they currently are including away support.

All I recall is my last post was questioning why Proud Jack was not banned and agreeing with a poster that it helps generate hits for the site and then next session my account was banned.

If my comment sounded sarcastic I apologise. I read we had sold 23500 and was genuinely surprised as I would've guessed 22k tops I do agree if we end up in the play offs 19k is what we should be getting with the half season ticket sales added on

I'm shocked u got banned for that.

Yes we allow Jacks on here, why because it we slate them and its only fair they get a chance to stick up for themselves and why should we ban other clubs fans?

The club delib fed that out to me 23,500 and I understand why :thumbright:

No hard feelings :thumbright: :thumbright: :ayatollah:

If our average crowd in premier was around 27k why oh why are people saying we should be getting 25k in championship now? when from 2008 upto 20013/14 average crowds were around 22k in championship and that's with 16k+ ST holders and couple cup finals as well ! :old:

Not brilliant but you know why I think our crowds are low.

One day the penny will drop with one or two.

100% Agree with you Ian :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

But the evidence in your own post suggests differently.

The two years in red we had our highest Boxing Day crowds.

Here we go again :bluescarf:

Neil, I stand by the Rebrand has done all this, you were not around so don't really know how badly it hurt the diehard City fans and the infighting.

Yes the crowds were massive in the Prem and on some of the promotion run, but as I have stated many times, most of the extra people were Glory hunters and coming to see the opposition. 100%.

Ok, you tell me why our home crowds are down and awful and away?

Plus how come we only took 1,290 fans to Burnley to win the Championship for the first time in our history?
Pay on the day,NO restrictions and allowed 3,500 fans.
Even I nearly never went.

Answer :thumbright:

Ok, you tell me why our home crowds are down and awful and away?

The rebrand without success was always going to be a disaster.

I claim we have lost 4K due to it. One bit of evidence I give for that is before the rebrand our STs was 18K. Today it is 14K.

Now our STs went up during our Premier campaign due to new supporters coming on the scene. Also you have to take into account that a number of disgruntled diehards hung around for the Premier season. Once we got relegated and it become clear we were not going to bounce back then the collapse was going to happen. I believe we lost the majority of our 4k
diehards in this period.

Now some will say they could not be that diehard if they saw the Premier season. Well I think that is a bit harsh as many of them would have been watching the City over a couple of decades. I knew quite a few in that category.

I believe if Tan had not "reverse" it there would have been a total collapes. I was told that Tan would have been quite happy if we went down to 10k and he would have kept the rebrand. I'm not 100% that might be true but I certainly feel if the rebrand would have carried on the STs would have fallen well below 10K. Perhaps down to our pre FA cup final days of 8K.

Because today was Boxing Day Allan, biggest day of the season and as u know we've been Top 3 for 5 months, and if we had had a capacity of 33,500 in the Prem, Our average would of been 32,000 approx.

Allan, Why should it be lower than previous home crowds then?

With all the posts on here about our attendances the subject is getting tedious if im honest.
The crowds wont increase whether the forum keeps repeating the same digs at our attendances or not.

How do you compare ST sales today when nothing before this season encourged people to buy one as been pointed out by people you can pick & choose games cheaper than ST price per game and poor football ? From 2008 + with cup finals golden tickets and promotion + new stadium effect which historically always boost crowds for couple of years, so can anyone honestly believe we should be having 18k ST this season Or bigger crowds for that matter? Nothing in past history backs up 25k crowds outside golden years of 2008/14

I don't understand the whole obsession with attendences. I'm more concerned with performances, results and injuries.

So, what do I think? I'd like to see a full stadium every week but I don't care that much. I used to be happy with over 4,000 so now we get decent crowds in my opinion.

Annis, you know how much the crowd debate annoys me but am going to agree with you on this. What I will say it's the rebrand and the premiership hangover. Today proved we have lost a lot of fans, I was surprised but the proof in the pudding.

What I will say is that it's improving and eventually it will return but it's going to take a lot longer than we thought, extra new fans don't just fall out of the sky when your in the championship. Still over 21,000 is something I could only dream of growing up watching the city.

Gareth, I have said it for years, the Rebrand has hurt our club far more than many realise and it will take many years.

You are right when we think back to Div 4 days 1,500-4,500 home crowds , We have come a long way, 17 years of success on the pitch.

But what worries me is that, we have the potential for big crowds and they are not returning.

I struggle with numbers? You have struggling with biff posts all day.

I had better things to do than spend all night on here. To be fair I’m questioning my judgement in coming back at all.

I have answered about crowds loads of times. Mainly it was due to success that we hadn’t had in a while (Championship was unchartered for most fans) together with an above average amount of season tickets sold due to cup finals etc. I did a long post giving our average attendance over the last 20 odd years with why I thought they were high in places.

As for Ian saying the die hards stayed for the premiership season then with no hope of bouncing back stopped going I agree with you. However you call them die hards sensible people call them glory supporters. They might have been there in the dungeon days but they were just there for the journey to the Premiership. Glory supporters. End Off (sic)

I'm a crowd nerd

On a serious note, I know thousands upon thousands are as well and millions in the UK.

Just look at the posts, replies and views it shows I am not on my own  :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

You carry on Annis we all know numbers make the world go around.

Personally I'm a half a dozen and dozen guy.

Ian :thumbright:

I love crowd debates :thumbright:

A pity Neil won't answer why are crowds are low,but just keeps coming back at my posts asking questions, which I reply to everyone :thumbright:

Numbers are a massive importance to everything in this world :thumbright: :thumbright:

Don't worry about Neil. He struggles with numbers once he has used up all his fingers and thumbs.

They were there in the dungeon days and for the Premier...I would not call them Glory Hunter....ever though they just might have had enough of Tan?

What do you think ? Disappointed. Really thought today it would be more. I almost feel like the crowds are going down as the season progresses. Of course their not in actual figures but less than 2,000 more than fixtures a couple of months ago is considerably less than the uplift I would have expected for a Christmas fixture.

I'm less interested in comparing us with other clubs but we're comparing poorly with our own past figures. When we went up 2013 we had a similar set of fixtures. Home the week before xmas, away to Leicester on the 23rd and then home on Boxing day and the following weekend. The 3 home games attracted 26k and our attendance were without doubt depressed that year due to the rebrand. This were down at least 6k on that average and to be honest Friday is looking a bit grim. 2 games on tele don't help but its not enough of an explanation.

The ticket office could perform better. More staff to answer the phones in lead up to big games and leaving the family stand with 20 or so single seats for sale on e ticketing from first thing on Friday morning until the evening of xmas eve was shocking. That said it would have been tinkering at the edges, its a minor issue and not the fundamental reason for the lack of support.

I have no idea what the fundamental reason is for is. There is of course no single reason. I have puzzled though on the various Wembley games and in particular the additional tickets we were given. Like many on here no doubt, I had multiple tickets for all the games - indeed for the initial Barnsley semi final because I had 2 season tickets I got 7 tickets in total. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that none of the people I took became attendees of the Cardiff City Stadium ( Ninian ) other than my son who held the other season. Worse 2 of them will have seen City play more at Wembley than in Cardiff although one of those has probably seen about 50 away games in the at 10 years. What did everyone else do with those spare Wembley tickets and did they yield any long standing fans from them ?
