Ian, I stand by this, if it was not for the Rebrand, our home crowds would prob be another 3,000 plus home(average), it has destroyed so many diehards feelings for our club.

One example of many I know is Mallo, he use to do all the plumbing & other odd jobs for the City free in the 90's.
Mallo use to have for his big family about 8 season tickets for the rebrand and had some for 25 years.

Now Mallo has only 3 season tickets and has only been to about 7 home games in the last few seasons, one so far this season, he has lost that feeling as the club destroyed it.

agree - city fans have always been fickle, but i've no doubt we'd have a couple more thousand were it not for the rebrand.

as i'm sure you'll remember, it is not just the rebrand, but the total disregard the club showed towards the fans that left a very bitter taste in the mouth for many. the infighting between pro red and pro blue factions left many completely disillusioned with what they felt the club had become.

not to mention the vile attitude shown by tan to his paying customers. although i have continued to renew through thick and thin, i personally have never forgotten the contempt tan showed to us, and continue to be amazed at his continued audacity to have 'laps of honour', and even more amazingly, that people cheer him.

I don't get involved in Re brand conversations anymore but I am still anti tan. I don't care how many millions he's spent on Cardiff, It make absolutely no difference to me what league we play in as I wont return to the CCS on a regular basis until he's gone.
I have attended the odd home game in recent years but before the rebrand I had a season ticket for roughly 15 years ( only 24 now )
Liam,

And your not the only one, I know many many Diehards who were broken through Tan & his Rebrand and you and them all should be Totally Respected for it :blue scarf:

People are too quick to talk before knowing facts.
I didn't attend one game in the premiership season which says a lot.
That does say a lot about your principles and respect for that.

However the fact remains our highest crowds were when we were rebranded so although we lost some diehards they were replaced and in fact added to. The current crowds are fack all to do with the rebrand or Tan who at the moment is (taking away history) is probably the best owner we have ever had.
Correct Neil, Our highest crowds were when we were Runaway Leaders of the Championship & then when we were in the Premier League, but what happened to those New Glory Hunters?

As most them certainly never stayed and should be there now. You Support your club No matter who the opposition are :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

For me they were not Cardiff City fans, more interested in the Opposition, the club saw people buy Premier Seats for fortunes and go to every away game in the Premier League, yet the minute we were relegated many of these Never renewed or to be seen again.

Whilst at the same time, many Diehard fans have been lost and needed again.

The club must learn this time if we are promoted, just because you buy a Premier Seat or a box,you should not be allowed 4 away tickets, away tickets should to be the loyal fans who followed City in the Championship.

Our Supporters Clubs were treated awful and there were many arguments about the treatment, things like this must not be allowed to happen again. :thumbright: :bluebird:
Agree with that Annis but it’s not a new thing. How many people got Cup Final tickets who had never been to the City?
Very true.

Neil, City Staff have a chance to learn from their past mistakes this time and so far I think they have :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Same for me - went to Ninian 30+ years, been to 3 games in the new place, two of those this season. The place is awful, and strangles life out of the crowd. I think it's this more than the rebrand putting people off.

Football has become too sanitised for a generation of our fans..

Stadium set up is wrong, no atmosphere as away fans next to kids stand, but more importantly, I bet there is a large number who simply don't enjoy football as while any more. Modern football is crap, money orientated and lost its soul. I do not have the same buzz for it, Wales Euro campaign did bring some of the magic back. But that aside fans are insignificant! I am used to it now I still go but it's never going to be the same.

That's it exactly - modern football. Things are not the same and never will be again now. How many of the old diehards used to go for the 'edge' that used to be there which has been totally killed by the authorities/police - would quite often wait out on Sloper road to watch the away fans escorted in, now both sides mix freely without any trouble, hard to believe when you think back to what used to happen.. I've been a regular for many many years and part of the match day experience used to be the atmosphere - now is all about the football on the pitch

Crowds are poor considering where we are in the league. But if you compare them to what we used to get at ninian park they are quite respectable.I cant think of one single club who's support has gone down going from an old stadium to a new one.

Agree with stadium setup , it's great that they want to reduce trouble but spin it on its head , all the away fans give abuse towards the family stand , little kids don't want to hear that , I know someone who had taken his kid to a game last season and away fans given the stand abuse the kid hated it , and didn't want to go back.
He eventually came back again and sat with him in another stand away from the away fans and the kid loved it . Theclub needs to seriously think about switching the ends as some kids get scared with the abuse sometimes is directed towards that stand

Stadium set up is nonsense, if people want to go by the away fans they can, hundreds of free seats in the Ninian stand all along the away fans.

Can people please shut up about the rebrand it is history. If you are not attending because of the rebrand then you are not a Cardiff City fan you are just someone who continually gripes about anything, get a life. Our crowds are poor and it is pointless writing on this forum to try to get more fans to attend games as the people that don't attend certainly will not be accessing this forum. The club needs to get the message out to the general public by advertising more. They are trying many schemes but they seem to be targeting the people who already attend. If we supposedly have around 260,000 registered fans where the hell are they. Can the club poll them to ask why they don't attend and plan a strategy from there. :banghead: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Football reflects our current society

For those who are genuine Cardiff City fans there are those who can afford it and those who are struggling and can't make every game, season tickets or away trips. Christ, today cost me £47 for my daughter and myself without driving, tolls, and parking.

Then there are those floating fans with spendable cash, these are the fans that will fill our stadium. The problem has been there has been no talk in the press, no big signings, no big promises or big spending so we have gone under the radar.
Lets face it Sky didn't fancy us as we were not on the first tranche of live games !!

There was also a fear of missing out in previous years. We had a 28K ground but now a 33.5K, so you'll always get a ticket.

Not sure what the tipping point will be. A win today may send out a message to those "missing fans" that they be missing things,, but a loss today may well serve the point that this is another false dawn and they'll keep their cash for something else. As there are the Autumn internationals then the six nations on the horizon.

On a personal note. If we do somehow get promoted i hope we have some of the most expensive match day tickets, to subsidise those who have stuck with the club in the "poor" :laughing6: :laughing6: (mid table championship) times

After following City since the early 90s, the one comment that got to me was Tan referring to us as customers. I am actually grateful to Tan for most of what he has done. As a confirmed customer, I'll go when it suits - the Leeds game was great value for money, thanks Mr Tan. See you at the next big game.

No factor. Two out of three of Our highest crowds over the last few years were when we were rebranded. That’s not defending Tan simply stating a FACT!

I totally agree. Using the rebrand is an easy excuse and doesn't stand up to scrutiny when we compare our crowds during the promotion, premiership and first season back when we played in red.

There are always individual cases such as Mallo but that example does-not prove that the wholesale decline in our home crowds is down to 'diehards' no longer attending. Those supporters account for only a small percentage of the fans who have abandoned the club over the past few seasons.

The biggest reasons for the lost of fans was relegation followed by a string of terrible managerial appointments which served up some terrible football. The biggest load of bullshit in recent seasons was the 'no blue no renew' narrative. The club gave us our colour back but we still deserted them and used a string of crappy excuses to justify it.

I would finally end by stating that things move on and if Mallo has chosen to give up his support then that is his decision.

However, he can no longer be described as a 'diehard' that tag goes to those who have stood by the club through all the crap it has endured over the past few seasons.

On balance Tan has been good for this club.

However we can't hide the fact he suffered from naivety when dealing in the football world and has seen a number of people take advantage.

The reference to 'customers' was one of those moments and damaged him far more than he realised at the time. He also made other mistakes such as declaring we had a £25m transfer budget the night we got promoted, the rebrand, the way the rebrand was implemented by blackmailing the fan base (no investment without it) and his managerial appointments.

Without doubt I'm sure he would do things differently if given the chance. But we must also remember he has given us the longest financial stability I can ever remember, nearly 8 years without one mention of a winding up order is quite something over the recent history of CCFC. :D

Blaming Tan for not supporting the boys at home is pathetic.
If you don’t want to go because it doesn’t ‘feel’ the same, then fair enough. There’s no problem with that at all. You pays your monies and make your choice.
Yes Tan just like all of us makes mistakes, but he has corrected them. Without him we wouldn’t have a Club to watch. He’s done what we all wanted and changed us back to blue. He has a manager and team in place that gives 100%. No more boring Slade shite with sideways/backwards passing. We have genuine pace in the side and are a threat to every defence. Warnock himself has stated publicly he’s had great support from Tan, Dalman and Choo. Just remember when we were about to go out of business, there was no long queue of multi millionaires waiting to pump money into this failing club. Annis as a successful businessman himself will know for sure that you don’t become successful by pumping money into a company that’s losing a million pound a month and your ‘thanks’ is the public hating you for it.
I drive 350 miles for every home game and as a season ticket holder I intend to watch every game. I miss Ninian Park, standing on The Bob and the CCS isn’t the same. However I want the stadium to be filled by fans who are there to support the boys unreservedly. I don’t drive for hours and spend literally thousands on fuel for Tan or anyone else. I go for my team. I’d encourage you to get your arse down there for the same reason. If not, then the place doesn’t need you.

You can call it the rebrand or dress it up however you want, to say that those who stopped going aren’t loyal is wrong. They were the most loyal, went through all the dark days and were hurt the most. I’m sure many have returned but plenty haven’t. It’s an easy habit to break and there are plenty of other far cheaper things to on a Saturday pm or after work mid week.
VT has made lots of effort to redress this but it’s not down to him anymore, it’s the culture we are here, a thing he never quite grasped.
The other main one is the stadium, Nash, on his mission has killed the atmosphere at the ground. Unless we have a gig club or derby then it’s always like an Ipswich or Barnsley ie flat as a pan cake. Let’s keep the next generation away, kids, and keep the away fans happy eh? We need an atmosphere back, we need fans back. If Warnock isn’t happy maybe we should show him the way to Nash’s office and sort it out once and for all.
