I think the club is trying everything in my view but as someone said earlier its been like this for years in 2003 we just about got 11.000 for a big game then in the play off final we got 30.000 then in our first game in the championship 18000 and then rest of the season 13000 FA cup final yet again we had 35000 and many others who couldn't get tickets yet back home 13000.

We have I believe 18000 very reliable die hard home support now I understand you wont get to all the games for whatever reason but I was disappointed yesterday after Tuesday nights performance

I was disappointed in the attendance yesterday,we are top of the table in arguably the most competitive league in world football and yet we can't get 20 thousand plus in consecutive home games,I know there is a financial aspect to all this but even so the team deserves better support

I couldn't afford it, simple as that, it would have been a £60+ day out for me, I went to the Pub instead. It wouldn't have made any difference to me if we were in the Premier League, 2 games a week no matter what the ticket price is not affordable for me at the present time.

How much did you spend in the pub?

Re: " PLASTIC SUPPORTERS "

I agree it's a shame that we aren't getting 25k+ every week, but that's life.

People have family, prior commitments and not all of our fans live in Cardiff.

I would love to be at every home game but as an exile it's very difficult for me financially and logistically to go to home games - so I prefer away days. (I've been to two this season - am targeting 5)

Just because you have the time and money to go to every game doesn't mean everyone else can - so no judging.

18,000 can make just as good an atmosphere as 27,000 - just look at Bournemouth.

At last some sense. I hate the snobbery of some fans following CCFC. Try supporting the team on the pitch instead of looking around the stadium moaning about empty seats.

There’s fvck all anyone can do about it, it’s a free country and people can do as they please. I choose to go and support City so that’s all I care about.

Two good posts and I couldn't agree more. Most clubs have this floating element and I can't understand this obsession some of our fans have with attendances and 'plastics'.

We are only just top though, we could easily have slipped into the playoff places for instance and then 18 is good,
I’ve always maintained we now have;
15000 proper fans
15,000 floaters who go when they can or fancy it
15,000 complete glory hunters who go to the big ones, playoffs, cup finals etc....

If we are still top by Feb I can see us pulling in 30 most weeks fir the last 10 home games.....

It's not rocket science. We had 9k extra fans for Leeds because IT WAS CHEAPER!! If you fancy lending those extra 9k fans a few hundred quid each so they can afford to go to every game the rest of this season, I'm sure they will come!

Stop slating these extra 9k, who would probably love to be there every game, but because of circumstances, they can't afford to go to every game. Some people can only afford to pick and choose certain games and the Leeds game was an obvious game to attend with the cheap ticket prices.

Before anyone responds with the "we would sell out in the Premiership" argument, that's because a portion of 'fans' who attended our Premiership games are the real plastics, as they simply used our club as a convenience to watch Premiership football. These plastics weren't Cardiff fans and these same plastics have probably gone to watch Swansea several times to see some live Premiership football.

In the Championship, our attendances will always consist of the season ticket holders, plus whoever else can afford to attend on the day, which unfortunately is only a few thousand extra because of the circumstances of every day life living in this area really. We will only see crowds vastly exceeding 20,000 if the ticket prices are cheap like Leeds, or if we are performing so well that a few thousand of these Premiership plastics decide to attend.

I also know people who follow a Premiership team but Cardiff is their second team. If we are still challenging for promotion at the end of the season, guaranteed these people will start showing up to boost our attendance. But until then, it's silly of us to expect anything over 20,000 imo.

Jesus, we have 18K regular fans and some are moaning !!!!!

Top 6 at half way and you'll see another 1K or so half season tickets.

Don't forget this is a big ole (modern) stadium nowadays, so there is little chance of a disappointment like missing out on tickets for a big game, so you can pick and choose irrespective of the price.

I read similar article little while ago on how "big" clubs like villa/leeds ect have seen a big drop in crowds depending on who they play! Its just the way football is today lot more attractions to make fans choosy on what game they watch! Even myself a ST holder dont go to all tue/sat games will pick best to to watch! Guess fans who pay are same with games...

A gallon of ale, so approx £25. A tenner on football bets, £35 total, great company and most of them in there were City fans like me.

People saying 2 games a week is to much and too expensive. So if we had played Man U on a Tuesday and Liverpool on Saturday at day £40 a ticket the ground would have been full for both games. So it throws that argument out.

The ground would be full for both games, but not with all the fans who are following the club week in week out right now. Would be full of Premier League fans, the sort you talk to every week down your local who support Man U, Arsenal etc. There are plenty of fans who are regulars now who would struggle to afford £80 for themselves plus whatever for their children to watch 2 games in a few days.

Price of tickets - £5 vs Leeds was the reason.

Re: " PLASTIC SUPPORTERS "

Smaller clubs like ours will always attract plastic glory hunting cheap seat buying fans in im afraid. They can then afford to cream themselves watching Manure and Shitepool on the Sky week in week out :bluebird:

And I suppose the ones calling people 'plastics' were all in Carlisle on a wet and windy Tuesday.

Get a grip FFS
If you have the cash to buy every ticket, fair play to you.
If you can afford to travel to every game, fair play to you.
But don't taunt people who haven't got your resources.

People really need to get over this 'we're a massive club' nonsense.

Have to agree with you.
There are probably a few of us on here who were at Ninian Park watching the likes of Exeter, Darlington etc with 3,000 other fans in the bad old days. That suggests that there are plenty of people moaning about plastic fans today who were not too enthusiastic about supporting us when we were going through some really bad times. You have to wonder how many of these self appointed mega fans who are fond of using the term plastics will still be around if the bad times return.

Re: " PLASTIC SUPPORTERS "

The figures quoted are inaccurate to say the least.

Subtract 2,700 Leeds fans, and factor in the attendance if City were mid table, any you may approach some near estimate.

Season Ticket prices are very reasonable when you divide it by the home games we play. If people were to pay on a 0% credit card you could even spread it over 9 months etc.

Really no excuse there unless individuals are financially struggling.

You can guarantee that should we get promoted many "fans" will return to see their favourite teams/players, not necessarily Cardiff!!

What I personally would like to see is if we gain promotion, ST holders get a reduced price for the PL and the "Johnny come lately" supporters pay more, a lot more. We would have no problem filling in the stadium in any event.

Until then us loyal fans should enjoy watching the Bluebirds doing well and in most cases playing good football. :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Re: " PLASTIC SUPPORTERS "

Mon Oct 02, 2017 12:28 pm

our natural fan base is about 15k - it has been for many years now. the only reason we had an unusually high attendance against leeds were the sheer number of fans who came for the cheap tickets. i remember paying about £18 in around 2009 and prices have not gone up a huge amount. tickets are reasonably priced here, bearing in mind other fans being ripped off.

the stadium is too big for a club of our size and fan base. even at PL level, after the novelty wore off we'd still only be at 21-23k IMO.
