If he really just wanted to play football. He'd leave
If he really just wanted to play football then last Xmas he would have torn up the contract that gave him an additional year for playing a mere 20 games. A blunder by us, and sharp practice by his agent. The most predictable thing at Cardiff City last season was that Ricky Lambert would finish on 19 appearances.

cant have this both ways....or would it be ok for Zohore to rip up his contract as well {im sure many wished this last September }.?
contracts are negotiated and signed in good faith ..and in this case was the marquee signing of the previous manager.
not the players fault that Trollope is no longer here..or that it was Neil Warnock and not some other manager who might appreciate him more that was appointed to replace Trollope.

Why Rickie Lambert's Plymouth Argyle transfer is unlikely
By Herald Beren
MURMURINGS, and that's what they are, of England international Rickie Lambert joining Plymouth Argyle have spread like wildfire over the past few days.
How realistic is this idea? This dream, for some? The number nine shirt at Home Park has no surname yet and the desperation to see it filled has led some to latch onto anyone out of favour in the EFL.
For the record: I would like to see Lambert at Home Park and feel he would be a success, but I cannot see it happening for a number of reasons.
It is true Neil Warnock has revealed the former Liverpool striker will play very little in the Championship with Cardiff City next season.
Does this then mean his default destination will be Home Park because Warnock is fond of Argyle and sent Matty Kennedy down last season? Not for me.
I have no doubts, after more than 200 goals in his professional career, Lambert would terrorise League One defences.
If he remained fit he would win games on his own for the Pilgrims, especially in a 4-2-3-1 system under Derek Adams.
And even though he is in a mould similar to existing strikers Ryan Taylor and Nathan Blissett, I am sure Adams would snap Warnock's hand off if the finances were right.
However, football is not as simple as that.
The number one reason I don't believe there is anything in this rumour is wages. Lambert played in the Premier League for five years and spent one of those with global giants Liverpool.
His salary would have soared over that period and even though he may have taken a pay cut to join Cardiff City last summer, we must be talking north of £20,000 per week still.
Therefore, there is surely no way, in the current climate, Argyle could afford to sign Lambert on a permanent deal.
I am not saying he would not drop down to League One, I am saying there are others who would be willing to pay him more than the Pilgrims.
What about a loan then? Sure, Argyle wouldn't say no to that, right? It's far easier to see Lambert in Argyle's colours when you consider Cardiff paying the majority of his weekly wage.
Ask former Cardiff midfielder Emyr Huws about that. In January he had to pay a fraction of his own wages to force through a loan move to Ipswich Town.
That would suggest the Bluebirds are not in the business of paying their players while they're plying their trade elsewhere. This stance is unlikely to be softened when it comes to the size of Lambert's pay packet too.
Beyond wages there is the issue of playing level. Lambert would not be too proud to roll his sleeves up in the third tier, but there must still be Championship clubs willing to take a punt on him at 35.
I have a slice of humble pie waiting nearby when he is inevitably teased in one of Argyle's #incoming updates on Twitter, but surely this signature would be too great a stretch?

If he is paid a fair wage based on what he is likely to bring to a team, Abercwmboi seconds should comfortably be able to afford him for this coming season.

After 20 games he'll be expecting a testimonial.

I don't think so, it's one of his last pay cheques he isn't going to forfit 12.5k a week for the love of the game. we have him the contract so why should he push for what he is owed, I would.
our best bet would be offering to pay up half his wage and then getting that half a wage elsewhere maybe even a signing on fee.
The little I've seen of him I don't think he has been as bad as people make out and even when he has been fit Warnock has chosen not to use him, he could have played more games.
