Whittingham had had the contract in front of him for nearly two months to sign, now put on hold.

Good i think its time for him to leave ,22k aweek will get us a top player

Wez, Yes I agree, many will say he deserves a new contract, well he had his chance, yes drastically reduced, but he has been over paid for years, time to move on :thumbright: :bluebird:

I think alot of players have been over paid and i think warnock will sort this out in the summer i heard bamba on a basic of 11k aweek still alot but not like Manga s wages warnk wibt over pay for mediocre players

Wez, That what I heard and this Summer I believe we finally sort out the over paid players once and for all.

Warnock will put together a team who wants to play, not just sit there for the big money :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

I agree with you and we should just leave it to NW to make the decisions regarding who goes, who stays and who arrives. Having said that I think contract talks being put on hold, for a number of players not just Whitts, has a lot to do with ST sales. Selling more ST will give the club and NW more flexibility with the planned budget. Sell the same number or less than this season and cost cutting will remain with us, no matter what is being said about supporting the manager.

As for Whitts we may have arrived at the point where he leaves the club but what a contribution he has made over the last 10 years. There are so many good memories from spectacular goals, stunning freekicks, countless fantastic assists and of course the technical ability to spray top class passes around the pitch with ease.

Whitts has been a model professional during his 10 years with our club and let's face it we have never had "A Story" about Whitts being out on the piss or turning up for pre season overweight or debt collectors at the training ground. Whitts has been an exemplar and for that the very least he deserves is our respect.

Comments like he has had his chance or been overpaid for years are quite frankly sickening and thoroughly undeserved of a player who can truely be described as a club legend.

Imo NW will be looking at 8 players at least with fees, loans and frees making them up.

Both Whitts and Manga are mentioned as being on s joint weekly wage of 47k. We could get 4 players for that amount so it makes sense!!

where does it say about the joint 47k.?

Whitts on 22k aweek and manga on 25 plus

yes but where did you read it ?
those are the type of figures ive seen mentioned loads of times but has it been said in press? im not disputing ,just interested.

I have never trusted a manager as much as I trust Warnock in all my years of supporting our club.

In terms of balancing the books and giving us the best chance of promotional there is nobody better I would want than Warnock making those decisions.

What ever happens to Witts whether he stays or goes he will always be a Cardiff City legend and a great ambassador for the club.

all players are overpaid and i think many get this mixed up with indidual players. of course 22k if its isolated seems rediculous but if compared to what we have paid, guerra, cala, peter o, ricky lambert, acorn , alf. etc etc etc for very little return it then becomes value for money.
i find those type coments about him thoughtless and very disrespectful too.

Players' wages are often quoted in posts like this. Where do people get the figures from? Do certain posters have reliable, inside information, or is it guesswork? Do journalists have the facts? How do people know what Whittingham, or Bamba, or Lambert, for example, are on? What are the sources of the figures mentioned? Not looking for an argument, just a bit more information. As Ben Bradlee said, 'when is somebody going to go on the record'?

I firmly believe that whatever the salary Whitts is on,he clearly is on big wages in comparison to what we think he should be paid. I love Whitts, however, his failure to sign the deal on offer, indicates to me that he's weighing up his options.

I don't blame him ,but that doesn't show loyalty to me. What's more, yet again, the club must be offering a decent package, as to date, no other clubs are willing to pay more than us for him.

It's clear that we have overpaid on wages for years ( look at the Statement of Financial Position) and this has to be reduced and brought in line with our turn over.

Ipswich, a big traditional club, could not even afford Emyr Huws wages, and to me,he is probably not even one of the big earners here. That speaks volumes.

Totally agree i think its time we start getting players on realistic wages for as far as i can remember under sam abd wvery owner since we have seemed to over pay for mediocre players

Back in December NW is on record as saying "I told Whitts he will be here as long as I am" when he was asked about his contract situation.

A couple of weeks later NW is on record as saying "We have made an offer to Whitts which he is considering and out of respect to a player who has been at the club for 10 years we should give him time to decide".

Now NW is on record, or Wathan claims he is on record, saying contract negotiations are on hold.

Which statement is most likely. How does it go Hmmmmmmm.

But being on hold is not necessarily a bad thing - as NW says he has to assess the wage bill. It doesn't mean that the offer to Whitts has been withdrawn or revised just that no further negotiations are taking place at the present time - presumably there are more pressing matters. To be honest why shouldn't Whitts take his time - it could be his last playing contract and he may well have other offers on the table.

surely the fact he didnt sign the contract if anything sugests the opposite. and you can only make the loyalty statement if you know whats being offered .
as for loyalty in football. it doesnt and cant exist.players have always moved for better wages and managers have always been sacked for poor results.

my opinion its mostly guesswork, some educated guesses some not so.and if journalists knew they would print it as fact.
Ricky Lambert in particular in various posts is earning 25k.30k.35k. cost anything from being a free to 1.7 mill. and had a large signing on fee but was paid 70% of his remaining WBA contract. the club statement at the time of signing him just mentions a 2mill package. which doesnt really fit with any of the above.
