Whittingham had had the contract in front of him for nearly two months to sign, now put on hold.
Good i think its time for him to leave ,22k aweek will get us a top player
Wez, Yes I agree, many will say he deserves a new contract, well he had his chance, yes drastically reduced, but he has been over paid for years, time to move on![]()
I think alot of players have been over paid and i think warnock will sort this out in the summer i heard bamba on a basic of 11k aweek still alot but not like Manga s wages warnk wibt over pay for mediocre players

I agree with you and we should just leave it to NW to make the decisions regarding who goes, who stays and who arrives. Having said that I think contract talks being put on hold, for a number of players not just Whitts, has a lot to do with ST sales. Selling more ST will give the club and NW more flexibility with the planned budget. Sell the same number or less than this season and cost cutting will remain with us, no matter what is being said about supporting the manager.
As for Whitts we may have arrived at the point where he leaves the club but what a contribution he has made over the last 10 years. There are so many good memories from spectacular goals, stunning freekicks, countless fantastic assists and of course the technical ability to spray top class passes around the pitch with ease.
Whitts has been a model professional during his 10 years with our club and let's face it we have never had "A Story" about Whitts being out on the piss or turning up for pre season overweight or debt collectors at the training ground. Whitts has been an exemplar and for that the very least he deserves is our respect.
Comments like he has had his chance or been overpaid for years are quite frankly sickening and thoroughly undeserved of a player who can truely be described as a club legend.

So that looks like Whitts will be gone but that also means Noonie, John, Pilks, Huws, Okeefe, Kennedy and others will be gone.
Imo NW will be looking at 8 players at least with fees, loans and frees making them up.
Both Whitts and Manga are mentioned as being on s joint weekly wage of 47k. We could get 4 players for that amount so it makes sense!!
where does it say about the joint 47k.?
Whitts on 22k aweek and manga on 25 plus

I don't blame him ,but that doesn't show loyalty to me. What's more, yet again, the club must be offering a decent package, as to date, no other clubs are willing to pay more than us for him.
It's clear that we have overpaid on wages for years ( look at the Statement of Financial Position) and this has to be reduced and brought in line with our turn over.
Ipswich, a big traditional club, could not even afford Emyr Huws wages, and to me,he is probably not even one of the big earners here. That speaks volumes.

Back in December NW is on record as saying "I told Whitts he will be here as long as I am" when he was asked about his contract situation.
A couple of weeks later NW is on record as saying "We have made an offer to Whitts which he is considering and out of respect to a player who has been at the club for 10 years we should give him time to decide".
Now NW is on record, or Wathan claims he is on record, saying contract negotiations are on hold.
Which statement is most likely. How does it go Hmmmmmmm.

Not looking for an argument, just a bit more information. As Ben Bradlee said, 'when is somebody going to go on the record'?
