Tell me something with the new bonus points system is it possible to win the grand slam but not the championship?

Impossible. They had thought of that, so if you Grandslam you get a bonus 2 points.

OK cheers but that contradicts the try scoring bonus point thing.

My bad, If you grandslam you automatically get three extra points.

Can you get 2 bonus points in a game if so my calculation above means you can win champ if better points difference ? Eg 17 points each

One bonus point for scoring four tries.
Another can be earned if you lose but within 7 points.
So you can earn 2 a game, however only by losing, therefore no grandslam.

Potential maximum points are 28.
If you lose one game by less than a score, and win all others but score 4 tries every game you will still only get 22 points.

Not a fan of it myself, but happy to see how it goes. I think it's purely to try to make teams more attacking in the last 20, encourage some better rugby. But the grandslam holds such status they will never scrap it.

Happy to admit I'm a rugby/football/most sports fan.
