Is the gift a yearly fee ???
Are they much better than android box with Kodi ??? They seem ok for fun films but the sports are rubbish
They won't work with a Sky Q lnb although you can fit a hybrid lnb. And is HD quality.
In my eyes these are better than android with kodi as this uses satelitte signal so its not streaming. Kodi is good for films and TV series as you've said but a zGemma is the perfect replacement for someone who is sick of paying obscene amount for Sky/Virgin/BT especially Sports + Movies. The gift will need to be renewed every year as it does expire which is £25 per year.
I think you will find they are not HD but SD as sky a long time ago have really encrypted the HD signal, and these boxes cannot unscramble the hd broadcast![]()
It's only premium sky channels that you don't get HD quality on. But they are HD quality.
Well all the football/sport/ movies are premium channels, so no HD, so who would want to watch bbc/itv etc in hd when you can get them on freeview. That is the point I originally made![]()

£120 all set up. All that's needed is a satellite feed and a internet connection into it. As they work of the satellite cables there is no lag or buffering, the internet connection is just for the encryption.

Is it easy to repair a sky cable?
Virgin cut my sky cable so I need a 4 foot extension .

Five held in 'fully loaded' Kodi streaming box raids
The director general of FACT says "anyone involved in selling these boxes should not be surprised to receive a knock on the door".
A day of raids saw four men, and one woman arrested
Five people have been arrested for being involved in the sale of modified set-top boxes that allow copyrighted video to be streamed for free.
The so-called "fully-loaded" Kodi devices enable users to watch football matches, premium TV channels and films, without having a subscription.
A number of boxes were seized at the homes of the suspects, who were held in Bolton, Bootle, Manchester and Cheadle.
A warrant was also executed in Rhyl, North Wales, but no one was detained.
The Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) said those taken into custody are believed to have made around £250,000 from the trade.
Modifications to TV sticks and set-top boxes allow users to illegally access copyrighted films and TV shows
FACT instigated the raids on behalf of the Premier League, Sky, BT Sport and Virgin Media.
Kieron Sharp, director general of FACT, said the arrests "should send out a clear warning to anyone involved in the sale and distribution of illegal set-top boxes".
"Set-top boxes loaded with apps and add-ons allowing access to copyright infringing material are very much illegal and anyone involved in selling these boxes should not be surprised to receive a knock on the door."
Kodi boxes and TV sticks are legally sold in shops pre-loaded with software.
The Kodi software, which can also run on a computer, tablet or smartphone, is designed to allow users to stream films and TV programmes widely available over the internet.
The "fully loaded" boxes have been modified with third-party add-ons which are unlicensed.
The add-ons allow users to access subscription-only and pay-per-view TV for free.
The four men and one woman held have now been released on bail following questioning.
Last year, a landmark case saw supplier Terry O'Reilly sentenced to four years in prison for conspiracy to defraud, for selling set-top boxes to pubs, which then used them to illegally stream live football matches.
Another trader, Brian Thompson, from Middlesbrough, has been charged with selling boxes that have been adapted to "circumvent technological measures" and is due to stand trial at Teeside Crown Court later this year.
